If you're not eating a bowl of full ROM-O's inside your Lambo while watching this vid why are you even here?

Amazing! Dr. Mike and Dr. James answered my question (about DR. James' experience with latent hypertrophy) about this exact topic in an RP Member's video. I'm SO stoked to watch a long-form discussion on this cause I'm just finishing a cut!

I'm reminded of a Morpheus quote. 'What you must learn is that these rules are no different from the rules of a computer system: Some of them can be bent. Others can be broken.' Training "rules" and principles are only reliable to the extent that they subordinate to more robust and fundamental principles. As in physics, so in physiology and training. Wisdom in this case is the ability to recognise weak heuristics, which are usually unconditional (e.g., "more of X is always better") or deontic ("you must never do Y"), and take a nuanced view based on superordinate principles, even if there is no direct empirical literature or consensus, while using personal experience to systematically verify what works best for oneself.

Glad to hear the ROM conversation, I’ve been going that way in my training for a while as well, I’ve just been getting amazing pumps since not getting hung up on pausing or fully locking the non-stretched position. That, and just letting my tempo be more natural vs artificially slowing reps down.

26:15 (Fear of stacking fat on during maintenance) - I had this for a while, and I think the problem was that I’d never actually maintained. I’d do well for a few months and make progress, then I’d lose focus and drift back to where I started. It’s easy to get the impression that those are your two options, forward or backward. And I had it rather easy. I’d imagine that fear is worse for those whose lose/gain cycles were more numerous and greater in amplitude, like the ladies who grew up on fashion-magazine diets.

I will say over and over that barbell high rows with thoracic rounding working tranverse abduction are the best weighted stretch possible on the side delts. It doesn't bother me that I'm the only doing them, you don't win by giving away the secrets anyway.

Upright rows are underrated IMO - Steve
@ProphetFear
@ProphetFear 2 жыл бұрын
@@ReviveStronger I would say they're appropriately rated. The real diamonds in the rough are Gironda high pulls and tranverse abduction rows. Not everyone wants to go past mainstream.

Coming more from a health and longevity perspective, even if muscle growth is a bit better with partial range, I don’t want to only be strong in a partial range. Strength seems specific to what is trained, I desire functional muscle. Full ROM is way more functional.
