Looks absolutely great, nice job. Butternut, in my opinion, is the absolute best, its easy to carve, holds detail well, and has nice rich colors, unfortunately it must taste pretty darn good too, because all the bugs keep eating it. I love this wood. You are very lucky to get a nice big crotch piece like that, just stunning.

Oh boy Rod this is some awesome wood grain wow. I am so glad that you and the other turners are showing us the inside of the awedome creation of God, a tree stump. That grain is awesome and stunningly beautiful.

Thinking just that. I don't typically love when I attempt that shape of a bowl because it often feels clunky. You have made it elegant, Ron. And, I think that shaped is what maximized the amazing figure in the wood. Really enjoyed this week's video.

One of the best live edge bowl I’ve had the privilege of seeing made. Thanks for the CA tip for the bark.
@RHumphrey3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Bob, I appreciate that! The thin CA glue soaks in quick and stabilizes the bark nicely. The stuff wants to run everywhere though, so make sure your wood is sealed or protected from staining first... hard lesson learned, lol

@@RHumphrey I would not worry too much about using that chunk of mesquite I sent you . That piece of wood is probably older than Methuselah and may only be fit for pen blanks. It’s a piece of dark mesquite; whereas the most common found is honey color and lighter in color.
