JT...I'm going to be 50 years old in February. Just put on the gloves for the first time in January of this year. I've got the boxing bug good. Absolutely love it. You are giving us an incredible amount of knowledge for free and it's unbelievably valuable. Thank you for all of this.

Yes, this is great instruction. I’ve made almost all of these mistakes at one point…when the combo gets complex or when I get fatigued, I tend to revert back to one of these mistakes.

Thanks, coach! You're right, this is very helpful guidance. Almost every one of them is a mistake I've made in the past... When the combination becomes more difficult or I'm feeling tired, I often fall back on making one of these blunders. Xo Heather Thrills

Great video. I've always felt that my straight right lacked power in comparison to everything else, and I just realised I lift my shoulder as I throw. Never knew that was a problem, I'm gonna have to work on that.

YES! My hardest punch to land in sparring. Def was raising my shoulder for protection instead of keeping my shoulder down and my chin down. Just stopping that increased range!

I always viewed a couple of these things as a compromise between power and protecting yourself; so the rear hand wants to drop because it generates more power (and grounds your balance), but it's worth losing some of that to guard your chin. However, you do see in pro fights that rear hand comes down all the time! Same with the raised shoulder; personally I like an inbetween level - higher than the traditional karate punch, but not right up either like an overhand. Pretty much like demo'd here, but a li'l higher.

I'm a beginner. One prob I had for quite some time was that I was unable to generate power from the hip although I was pivoting and everything (so I thought). I figured that my timing or rather my coordination was off in the sence that my hip was already fully turned in but my arm wasn't fully extended. Instead of throwing a right hand I was kinda throwing a right hand jab.

What's good JT!! Can you do a vid showing what to do and even what not to do against the certain styles. Suggestions on any adjustments that can be made during the fight or especially during sparring, it seems the small, subtle adjustments can save a fighter if he understands he's being overwhelmed and NEEDS to try something...🙏

Hey, i got a question. I started boxing recently and im self learner. When i was training cross i noticed that its much faster and natural to start motion from pivoting and pushing feet from the ground rather than "pulling" body weight with my arm, and pivot right after. I always try to pivot and get hip when I throw a punch, but im not sure which part of body involved in cross I should initiate the move. I hope u gets what I mean. Great work, great content :)

Man, Jason.... Thanks so much for this video. I've been recording myself to see where I'm making mistakes, and was struggling to get that right hand to look as clean and crisp as yours. I just couldn't figure it out. This breakdown didn't just highlight all of my mistakes, it's shown me how to correct them. And your footwork videos are helping me a lot as well. Thanks for all you do!

You have to know what you're capable of and your different modes. Are you in pressure mode like Pacquiao, are you in smart counter puncher mode like Mayweather, are you in high guard pressure mode like Winky Wright, are you in quick attack mode like Hopkins. You have to know these modes and work on them so you can use them.
