People have been complaining about the sound quality. I downloaded this clip and examined audio in Adobe Audition. I found that video uploader had reduced max level to -12 dB. This is not yet catastrophic if you have powerful enough speakers to compensate loss of decibels. Frequency analyzer is quite healthy - there is enough bass and other freqs as well. Lack of energy is due to overcompression. Mixing/mastering engineer of this audio clip has tried to achieve "modern" sound by compressing it too much. First victim is the snare drum; if its transient can't get thru, it will sound weak. And so it does. There are other issues in the mix, too, but also the performance is not as good as it could. Drummer is a bit lazy. He does not command the drumkit but plays it like in a small wedding party for the elders. Overall, sound sources for the microphones are too 'safe' and middle-of-the road. Summary: bad mix ruins average performance.

Pois é, mas em termos de estúdio o Purple nunca lançou um grande álbum sem Blackmore. Purplendicular e Bananas são bons, mas só. The Battle Rages On é datado, não sobreviveu nem dez anos. Os dois últimos discos são ridículos. Morse é interessante, tem um estilo único, mas nunca sai da própria bolha. De qualquer forma, realmente falta energia (e honestidade) a este novo Rainbow.

For me, this is a much milder, weaker, and watered-down version of how Richie and DeepPurple used to perform this killer song about 10 years ago when they first released it. Sadly, those older performances were not captured as well as this video. I can't put my finger on exactly what I find lacking here. I have been a huge Blackmore fan for a number of decades, since I heard a local bar band playing a cover of "Do You Close Your Eyes" off the "Rainbow-Rising" Album. Been watching Richie, and lately he seems to have softened somehow, and I don't believe the older, harder version will every come back. I would love to see him focus on making great music that is suited to his new attitude, not sure what that would be, except similar to Mike Oldfield, Alan Parsons, Yes, or even Pink-Floyd. BTW- If you haven't seen it, there is a great interview series out on KZbin with Richie, and also a similar series that is likewise very good featuring Joe Lynn Turner Of course you can't forget Ronnie James Dio, and the others. Richie has ALWAYS worked with the most incredible vocalists, and been associated with some of the best songwriters/song-crafters
