This is some incredible material. From how other pink floyd members have talked about this demos you’de expect them to be much rougher than they are. Im also glad these exists to prove Roger was much more than just the “lyrics guy”. You can even hear a lot of the gutar work you’d expect gilmour to have come up with in here. What I would give to be able to hear the full 90 minutes of this. It’s incredible
@stickman1742 Жыл бұрын
I'm so tired of those Gilmour fans that want to paint Roger as lyrics only. Waters was the only one in the band that could construct a lot of songs that would be hits. A lot of people can play guitar and keyboards, but only a few can pump out songs that can become popular. Roger had that ability, he could have been employed as a songwriter. And many key elements of the band's sound were his. He wrote many of the guitar parts that David would play and pretty much all the melodies that David sings are Roger's. His melodies are pretty distinctive so that's pretty easy to tell. Even Gilmour's breathy singing style was just a copy of Roger's way of making his own voice sound nicer since he didn't like his singing voice. There are also several nice guitar parts in this that I'm disappointed didn't end up on the album. Certainly Gilmour and Wright made everything sound nicer, but Roger was the key composer and was responsible for the Floyd style of music.

WOW, it was a joy to listen to this! In 20 minutes it paints an already clear picture of what would become The Wall. Of course, at this stage, Roger Waters would not be able to fully flesh out more than 20 songs but the basic concept, the creative direction, and the stroke of genius are all there. Glad he had the band to help him carve out a masterpiece out of his driving force.

@@alexvernon7456 Division Bell was a number one album for four weeks. Roger never had any success like that after trying to take the ball and go home.

Roger Waters and Bob Ezrin did a great job on "The Trial"

Hilarious that Roger pretended to be unimpressed by Punk. This has a punk spirit that he can’t deny and practically invents the whole ‘goth’ movement that followed in the early eighties. Its’s his Plastic Ono and is better than the finished version of the album. Good old Roger.

The funny thing is that the punk movement was against Pink Floyd. Yet they pretty much talked about the same sort of political stuff in their lyrics.

@@Ck-zk3we That's not entirely true. While early Floyd was mainly psychedelic they were political before the Sex Pistols pushed punk to the mainstream. Dark Side had manyyyyyy political statements in it.

That is correct, I would also love to hear that but the chances of that being released are even more slim than this in full sadly :(
