I’ve tried a lot of the cambered bars and use them with a lot of people. This one’s everybody’s favorite. They’re different things but most people actually prefer squatting with this to my Transformer Bar, provided I put a pad on it for those that want it. Benches like a dream too. Easily the best bar like this out there right now. I have no idea why anybody would try deadlifting it but I’ll be trying that now too.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I had no plans to ever deadlift with it until I saw one of my followers doing it and said it felt great. It’s different more like a rack pull but I’m liking it.

I was in Columbus yesterday and happened to stop by the Rogue retail location for the first time and got to try this bar out and I had the same opinion as you in that its pretty awesome!! Prior to seeing it yesterday I thought I would never consider this bar but seeing it in person I think the fit and finish was just fine! It was super grippy and the finish imperfection were not really an issue. I was really surprised how much I liked the bar. Now i'm actually considering getting it even though I prob don't need to! I was actually hoping to see their new cambered bars (MG-4CN) there but they didn't have them in the store. I did see the Rogue Kabuki bar and that was actually really nice as well. I wish they had showrooms in diff cities so we could try all these before we bought!

My wife wanted the duffin bar for Christmas and I saw this bar on the boneyard weeks back so I grabbed one. I couldn’t find anything wrong with mine other then a small scratch on the sleeve which was probably from me pulling it out of the tube. Thanks for mentioning the movement in the rack. Ours slides when you load weight on one side regardless of how the jcups are positioned in a elitefts 2x2 rack. Happy with the bar and pretty sure my wife will be happy on Christmas.

I think everyone complained about the finish so they put that batch in the boneyard. It’s a great bar

I’ve been influenced, I bought a Rogue CB4 Boneyard Bar. I can’t tell why it was in the Boneyard section of the Rogue website…maybe the knurling? Squats with the CB4 was comfortable, I liked how it felt on my back and where my hands were when I squatted. I also like the weight of the bar because it’s heavier than a regular bar. I also noticed it’s a bit longer than a regular sized Ohio bar. Thanks for doing your review on this bar, it made me look at it again and eventually buy it.

I had an issue with the boneyard black matte sleeves and they measured 50.4mm with my calipers. Rogue Training bumpers didn’t fit. Contacted Rogue and they said it was normal. I ended up sanding down the sleeves so I could use the bar. Glad you got good sleeves. I agree with you that it’s great for benching.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I heard about that. That was an issue on some of the early ones and the sleeves being uneven. The first thing I did was put my calipers on the sleeves to make sure I didn't get one of those oversized ones. I'm surprised Rogue didn't take care of you.

Hi, prior to going out of business a company called XII XI (Twelve Eleven) made bar holders and specific insert for Camber Bar that can be changed out with rollers also. I wonder if Irwin could fabricate a set of angled inserts or if Rogue could? Can send picture. Don't have the rack or bar yet. This review was helpful with why they were in the Boneyard. Dr. Terry Todd and Westside Barbell had some input on this design. Can't wait to get one.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Good points. Yes Irwin has some inserts you can buy and I have some in order. It’s perfectly fine to use the standard jcups I found with the new Rogue bar. Kabukis would roll because of the design. Rogue will likely make the inserts soon for their rollers too! Cheers👍🏻

I did ton's of hangs, band mobility work, physio therapy, stretching, shoulderok, and range of motion press work. Took a year to fully recover. I was over hear pressing 100lb db's before the accident and was barely able to move 15 lbs a few weeks after. Slow Slow recovery was my game plan. No surgery but I was lucky.

Rylan, the round sandwich J-cups tilt when the bar is resting on them. Do they work well with the bar or do you think it is necessary to purchase camber blocks?

They work really good but they are set at an angle on the post so not necessarily the way they were intended. I have a set of ghost camber blocks also but have yet to use them.

I went back a forth about this bar till I saw in in the Boneyard as well. Very glad I ordered it. Takes l a lot of the pressure off my shoulders on squats …my walk out days are over and it’s going to eat thru the UHMW on my monolift attachment pretty quick, so I’ll be contacting Rogue about some replacement extras. For bench I picked up a set of koala_barbell inserts for my Ghost Strong roller J Cups and they work great. Thanks for the review. Cheers.

Rylan, this is a very helpful review. Appreciate the insight into the boneyard for this bar. You highlighting Rogue fixing the rolling issue was also pretty helpful since I don’t have Ghost or Irwin J-cups that I can simply buy block inserts for. In your video, the bar seems very stable on the Monster 2.0 monolift arms. Curious if that’s been your experience since I bench using them and it would probably be a dealbreaker if the bar wasn’t stable on them as I want to be able to use the bar for cambered benching and squatting. That being said, what are your thoughts on using this bar for cambered bench vs all the cambered grip bars that you’ve reviewed? My thought is if it provides the same deep stretch, there may not be a need to buy a cambered bench bar, essentially killing two birds with one bar.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
Hey Josh. Tons of good questions here. The bar was staple on my Rep jcups however they are the round ones so results may vary but no issues there. Using it in the mono was no problem and it felt staple. Rogues new design really helps it from rolling. It’s a great stretch on bench and wouldn’t say it replaces a multigrip bar but similar in stretch. Cheers buddy

Would these be good for 1 hand deadlifts? I figure the camber may help but idk I’ve never even seen one in person
@MacStrengthCo11 ай бұрын
It's probably too wide to grip well with one hand. For one hand work I would prefer a smaller diameter bar.

Thanks for the great review . I love you channel. I had a major left rotator cuff repair. Would you recommend this bar for benching? And is it better for benching than the rep cambered bar for benching.
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the kind words and support! I wouldn't say it's better than the cambered bar. More different in how it angles the grips. I think it's the combination of the 38mm wide bar and the curve which helps take pressure off the shoulders. It surprised me honestly. Enough to want to keep it.

I have a IRWIN FITNESS bench on order which I should have reviewed around xmas time. I've been using Rogue benches for the last 2 weeks at a local commercial gym and find them very slippery and the angles not quite right. I like the thompson pad flat but really dont see a need to upgrade my REP benches.

@@MacStrengthCo yes I have the monster flat bench with the fat pad...love it! Thing is I live in Canada and ordering from IFS is the double the price of Rogue for shipping. But you may have convince me to go Irwin...will wait for your review.

Rogue AB-3 is a monster. I buy one used. It's the most stable bench I've ever used for loaded sit ups. If you don't need the leg roller, AB 3.0 is sufficiently good.

I’ve been proud of myself for not buying this from the boneyard 😂. Any chance of buying a MARRS bar? I’ve already got an expensive SSB, Kabuki, but that thing is calling out to me
@MacStrengthCo2 жыл бұрын
I've used the Marrs bar and it's amazing how tight it fits around your shoulders and neck. It's well balanced and you can literally squat without your hands supporting it without issue. The problem is the price to ship it because they ship one piece on a pallet making the price near $800!
