I totally understand what your family has been going through with your Dad’s cancer battle. My now 2 year old great-grandson was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma 10 days after his first birthday. After, surgery, 8 months of chemotherapy treatments and way more tests/scans than any person should have to deal with, he is cancer free! WTG DAD!! Thank You, Lord!!

@@ajmoose3044 my husband and I would love to start a homestead, but for us to do so it looks like we would also need to make a big move and we are hesitant because we want our children to be able to see their grandparents and even great grandmas (and great uncle) in person as much as they can (oldest great grandma is 96 and still lives in her own with support from family).

Katie you never lose your dad he will always be a part of you. I have a daughter who has always been a dads girl she can't or I should say won't go a day without having some kind of contact with me. When I hear her talk to others and especially to her children she sounds like a recording of me. I sounded like a recording of my father. So please know that no matter what happens he will always be a very big part in your life. I'm sure that when you go to decide something you think okay what would dad say or how would dad have went about getting something done. So in a since he is still guiding you. I'm very sorry that your dad was taken so young . He sounds like he was a wonderful parent. I want to send Gods peace and love to you. If you ever need the advice of a dad please feel free to ask me I would be very proud to be able to help you like that. As someone who did their PDC in the 80's with Mollison, I think the one from OSU is solid. What is most important is the last third of Molisons book, but it is the hardest to learn without the initial part. Rem it is a design philosophy, a lens to help one decide what is the best action. The base principal is "people care, earth care, fair share" and everything comes out of this general principle. Yes you will be looking at how water works in the landscape, and stacking function with plant guilds. You will design based upon zones, keeping what needs the most care closest and aim to minimize inputs. Yet what it comes down to is creating the abundance needed by all creatures to have the best experience possible. The course is like drinking from a fire hose, so learn the "slogans", sayings, ditties, because having one of them run through your head as you become frustrated or overwhelmed will help. It is hard to move out of the scarcity mentality that is so pervasive in our world. The silly saying, pictures, and stories help. My household has one rule "respect yourself, others, and your environment." It covers everything, which is permaculture at its core.

I get such joy and peacefulness when I watch your videos. I’m so happy for your Dad that he’s Cancer free. I’m a caregiver for my hubby now and I was diagnosed Nov 2, 2020 with Lymphoma/Leukemia. I’m what they call watch and wait. I’m monitored every three months, labs, CT’s, Pet scans. I’m a baby boomer our children are grown up now. I love following all your adventures. I studied permaculture in my final year of college, so it was more than the typical PDC and I highly recommend learning more about permaculture. It's a frame work of thinking, not just design concepts for landscapes that produce food but a way of planning for literally everything.
