Yes, Ukraine is trying to take back every square centimetre of the territory that has been universally recognized as “theirs” since the breakup of the USSR. However, only the most simple-minded would believe that it is merely land they are fighting for. To perform a primitive calculation valuing the lives lost per unit area recovered then offer us that as determinative of success or failure is insulting. To the extent those critical of Ukraine do offer this metric as relevant they need to complete their simple equation from Ukraine’s perspective and account for all opportunity costs and future costs (including to the reputation of the UN and the threats to each of their neighbors) of allowing evil Russia to remain on soil illegally taken while we all stand by. An evil bully is terrorizing our entire planet. Ukraine understands what must be done and they have the courage to act. For awhile I was being called out for not being a fan of Musk too after I posted something on Facebook about my dissapointment in him concerning his offer of a free pony to someone. That was until I started finding more about him onTwitter after Facebook no longer will allow me to share important news reports on that platform. Which included news reports about forest fires in Canada which I was not being allowed to share. At least Musk and Twitter allows free speech. For how long though?

It's not about taking land right now It's all about bleeding the Russian's of manpower weapons/assets and money. One night of missile strikes cost the Russian's 450 million dollars, one sub, one landing craft and a dry dock. Last week it was a radar system at 200 million dollars and as for manpower 20-25 years before they can replace those lost citizen soldiers.10-15 years to rebuild their lost assets.
