Ryan, are you working on a Ryan Knorr elite rye grass mix? I can't find Ryan's lawn on your website. I am looking to start adding rye into my bluegrass mono next year.
I live maybe 15 miles from Ryan and I've never understood why most people "shut it down" in Sept. My neighbor has his irrigation system blown out as soon as summers over. My lawn looked it's best last year in Oct, Nov, and even into early Dec.

Last year, I laid down a micronutrient dump in October (about to do it again this year), and my fescue was green and beautiful all through the Puget Sound winter and was growing heavy a month earlier than normal this spring.

Ryan, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you. Two years ago I would have said that if I ever got a lawn then I'd hire a company to come take care of it, but after finding your channel and CW's in March and moving in with my girlfriend I've come to love lawn care. The feeling of pulling into my driveway and seeing how great my lawn looks fills me with more pride than I ever thought was possible. So thanks for giving me something else I can be proud of.

I'm always so jealous of you guys that can just mow whenever you want. My neighborhood is basically a forest. I can't mow until I've spent at least 90 minutes blowing, raking and bagging leaves first. Each "mow" takes me 3-4 hours. And then the wind picks up for ten minutes, and it looks like it never even happened. Guh...

Ryan, I know you don’t have them but can you give any advice about growing grass under and around pine trees? Having a terrible time trying to get anything to take with the acidic soils. Thanks
@braddick41303 жыл бұрын
Cut the tree down 😉 look at golf courses lined with pine trees. They don’t even bother and they have all the money and resources. Maybe if you replaced the soil and bagged your clippings from day one.
@kevinshepard17483 жыл бұрын
Chainsaw is your best friend in that situation.
@kevinshepard17483 жыл бұрын
Dont assume it's automatically acidic. Shade is the likely issue if its right under a tree. Grass can grow in acidic soil. Grass cant grow without the correct amount of light.
@Cheeser17643 жыл бұрын
@@kevinshepard1748 I think you are right. I’ve been trimming back the canopy to let more southerly light underneath, while trying not to leave the tree looking wonky. But I pulled a soil sample and it is indeed acidic. My next move is to lightly lime, add some pulverized black, seed cover and water water water. It’s been dry up here in MN.

Not a related question but what is the best way to fix my patchy seeding job? I recently cut down some trees, ground the stumps, pulled out all the debris, put in new soil (tamping and watering each layer) but apparently I did a crappy job of spreading seed and it is super spotty. In my defense partially due to some downpours on my seed that I didn’t put any straw over. Thoughts?
