Freddie famously said he didn't care what people did with his music; just make sure it's interesting. He just wanted to have fun and do weird/cool stuff, just like Bowie. Bowie was always about trying to find ways to express his inner thoughts and experience new, interesting things even outside of music (like acting in movies or doing voiceover work in video games, for example). Sam Smith and other such Hollywood losers are just trying to be edgy and bombastic for the sake of garnering attention to themselves. Their opposition to all things good and wholesome as a fundamental aspect of their nature/ideology, actually makes them more in line with Anti-God ideals than if they were Satanists, so in a way, the "satanic panic" is spot on, not so much with them flaunting pop-culture themed satanic imagery, but their rejection of anything even remotely good, their embrace of degeneracy, they've walked themselves into being Anti-Christian through irony.

I've recently come to the belief that there are two kinds of Atheists. There are those who don't believe in G-d, and there are those who believe there is no G-d. Sam Smith and the other Hollywood degenerates are the latter, and so actively do everything they can to spit in the face of everyone else(including those without belief). I will never understand why people would want to identify with Satan, even if they don't believe in him. He is the concept of pure evil, no different than Voldemort or Palpatine in fiction. Identifying with the concept of evil like that should disturb people of faith and Atheists alike.

@psychegoddessoflight9358

Gnosticism was falsely conflated with worship of the dark/negative polarity deities and with moral relativism _by the early Church,_ because they sought a more patriarchal worldly system (via religion), which opposes Gnostic cosmology (with Sophia as Prime Creator). Same as people trying to cast aspersions on "as above, so below" when that's simply another way of saying "On Earth as it is in Heaven." ☯️ aka Supersymmetry. Gnosticism also allows for *all* religions & mythologies to be understood as (more or less) valid, and that's been too plentiful a source of conflict for those who have more to gain from fostering confusion & strife. It also makes Christian theology far more logical (Jesus' spiritual/eternal Mother= [the Holy] Spirit, aka Yahweh's wife Asherah). The second greatest trick the devil ever played was getting followers of Christ to deny His divine Mother. Sophia= wisdom; gnosis= knowing. They got people to fear the knowledge that would lead them to salvation when faith alone wasn't cutting it ("my children perish from lack of knowledge").

Well, the issue (as always) was that the Christians of the time weren’t being reasonable. For example the christian author of comics that dev talks about literally decried CS Lewis, one of the most popularly celebrated Christian thinkers of the 20th century (I say « popularly » in reference to him being very famous and cited in popular level apologetic circles, not in the sense that he was one of the greatest Christian thinkers of that century necessarily) as one of the tools of satan. If one keeps getting (partially) right based on dogshit arguments, he won’t convince the reasonable, because the reasonable knows that the unreasonable path forward being criticized isn’t the one they want to take, and can’t imagine that there are equally insane people « « « on his side » » » that’ll actually end up making the other guy’s fever dream into a reality.

@@Zed012 Honest answer, the driving force is from media orgs and political groups, but they need the extremists on whatever side to be loud, stupid, and upset in order for the orgs to actually get any of it to stick. I can draw parallels to how the "slippery slope" has just been mutually butchered by both sides into being a parody now. Leftoids bust it out as a cudgel against the rightoids, and rightoids use reacting against this parody version of it to paper over the weak links in their chain of causation. The actual slippery slope fallacy, being merely an informal one, has no business being in either of these contexts, but it's very politically useful for orgs on either end to continue with the term butchery to baffle people into more stupidity.

Satanic display isn't something I think is a thing people should dabble in but it's not me and I'm not gonna force my religious beliefs and practices on someone, especially on people that clearly don't care. So if you were to get together with a group of friends and put on a production of "The passion of christ" most people would look at you and think that you must be Christian. When you look at a story say lotr or chronicles of Narnia and find clear Christian symbolism and allegory again you would be right in drawing the logical conclusion that the authors are Christian. I'm not sure why when you apply this to something that's clearly satanic (either laced with satanic symbolism or just a blatant celebration of it)that you are suddenly a crazy pearl clutcher .

Don't do the Devil's work unless you are prepared to pay the Devil's price. Ostensibly, a warning against doing evil things even if you have good intentions, but my word have we added an entire new subtext to that wisdom. I doubt Sam or any of the other people embracing degeneracy to milk the last little bits of attention are anything more than pathetic children, but you don't get to wear evil like makeup and perform its rituals without a price. Looking at everything going on, it seems pretty clear it's doing just that, sapping the beauty, health and every other good thing from them, a bit more literally than metaphorically in Madonnas case.

We are seeing religiosity. The current leftist culture is a religion. It has original sin, rituals, prayers and mantras, martyrs and saints, crusades, priestly classes, and a fabled judgement day. It's officially atheist, but religion doesn't require a god. Right now, we're seeing what happened in Rome: a new religion takes hold of the urban populations and begins to impose it on the "backwards and sinful" rural population. Remember that the terms "heathen" and "pagan" both mean "rural people" and were used by the urban Christians to denigrate the "uneducated rural rubes" who hadn't adopted the new ideology yet. Christians are the new pagans and if they don't outlast the urbanites, they'll be wiped out. Unlike the old pagans, I think Christians can survive longer. Wokists too many beliefs that undermine their ability to reproduce and trust each other.

What's funny is, given the massive amount of actual occultic symbolism and ritual shit mainstream pop acts have in performances at major events (such as Super Bowls, Grammys, etc), coupled with our elite class's deep interest in that kind of shit (Epstein's weird art and island temple anyone?), I'd 100% believe Sam Smith or Arianna Grande were part of Ordo Templi Orientis, Temple of Set, or some other actual Satanic/Luciferian occult society before I believed the any one of the vast majority of black metal musicians were.
