Yeah, how you setup your routine is how you gonna ride it out. I used to workout after work, already exhausted as i do physical work and switching it to mornings where i just pump it out and be done with it and have whole day where i dont have to think about it because i've been up for 10hours or maybe im just more tired than usual, nope i already did my reps and daaamn it changed everything for me.

Almost 40 pounds down in almost 6 months and everything Sam is eating is exactly what I eat. I also stopped partying, drinking, vaping, Relying on energy drinks and pre workouts for working out along with doing intermittent fasting which helps with over eating. @@FatalFates thanks bro! I do 12-8. I have a cup of coffee in the morning to curb my appetite until my first meal and usually stop a little before 8. I know some people do 1-9 or 2-10 which is more sustainable if you like going out and meeting up with friends to eat or drink but even if I hang out with friends or go out, I don’t eat or drink. But since I been doing it for a while now, I don’t get hungry at night anymore and this is coming from a guy that use to order uber eats at 1 in the morning.

Brother! As of this afternoon I'm down about 38 lbs in a little over 6 months. I don't obsess over my macros other than getting almost enough protein. I still drink (but far less) and still enjoy my weekly trip to the local greasy spoon diner. I'm just obsessive about tracking my calories. The hunger pangs are killer but I look better and feel better than I have in years.

Sam, these types of videos make a huge difference for some of us. I’ve been pretty ignorant when it comes to keeping track of my nutrition throughout my life, and your detailed videos really got me on track in terms of counting my macros, getting more dialed in, and getting healthier. Recently diagnosed with prediabetes (I’m 160lb boxer) and I’ve gone ocd obsessed with reversing it since. Completely changed my entire way of life to fix this. I credit a lot of my ability to do so from you man. You taught me a lot of different tricks and ways to do this. Thanks bro
@bvick1

Can I ask what caused the diabetes? Like from unhealthy habits or just genetic factors, considering you are a 160lb boxer I wouldn't think it would be from unhealthy habits, just genuinely curious.

as a tip from an actual butcher, that stuff that they wrap is from inhouse in that store. it isnt 96% that is a "goal average" that they aim for when they do fat tests but it can range depending on the batch, however that goes for all ground beef you see. the % on the package is what they aim for but it can turn out to be leaner or fattier than that by a few % just dont think because one says 96 and the other says 93 or 94 the 96% package is automatically leaner.. the only way to really know is by running a fat test in a fat testing machine.. chances are they are all basically the same. to get 96% lean, would be like 100% bullmeat from a tube..

Tip for anybody that finds straining ground beef sketchy like Sam does, take the pan off the heat, move all the beef to one side of the pan, tilt the pan so the liquid flows to the now empty side of the pan, get a few paper towels and press and soak it up using tongs to hold the paper towels, super easy that way

Hey @Sam Sulek , fellow dieter here. Doing keto so my carbs are pretty held in check. You may have tried this, but I feel like the Quest Brownie loaf thing, and the Quest Strawberry / Birthday Cake frosted cookie things really curb that sweet tooth for me and are only 2 net carbs per package. The brownie one I just had and I think it said 10 grams of protein too which rules. Sure it's a fewer calories than you'd like, but it will be a good krispy creme replacement if you're craving sweets. 1 pack satisfies that craving too to where I don't feel like eating more due to the sugar alcohol I'm guessing. Give them a try! I get them all the time and they don't seem to kick me out of ketosis either.

I worked as a trainer for years and I would actually go with clients regularly on grocery trips like this to teach them all the ins and outs of what they should be doing, why and how to count properly. People are always amazed at how impactful the tracking and a few sacrifices would get them. Keep up the good work brother, I'm out of the game but it's refreshing to see younger people actually eating something that's not just rice, chicken, tilapia and broccoli.

Thanks for the grocery trip and talk. Counting macros with an app counter is absolutely crucial like you mentioned and also agree you can get lost with going over with condiments. Honestly, me starting my macro counting a month ago had already made huge progress and I'm not even weighing anything out yet. I still have a long road, I'll get there soon though. What else I use as a helpful tool are places like Chipotle and their Nutrient Calculator on their website. Its so helpful to count your macros when on the go or when you can't get back to the house to eat your meal. I tried that hamburger bowl you made and oh my goodness! Game Changer! I add my 1lb beef, ketchup, mustard, dill relish on some minute rice, perfect meal and don't miss the bun. I'll try the Carb Smart you got at some point. It's funny cause I was at the store yesterday planning my burger bowl for today and immediately thought of Sam. Got to get that Relish :).

Dude thank you so much. I’m sick and tired of putting in countless hours in the gym and not getting the results I desire. I need to diet to get to where I want to be. I’ve been battling this concept for years telling myself if I just put in the work it won’t matter what I eat. Well I’m 30 years old and just figured out this couldn’t be further from the truth. Better late than never I guess. 😅

9:35 I add that directly into my protein shake with some peanut butter powder. It just adds some texture and consistency to my shakes, not to mention a little more protein. That’s good stuff. I pay the extra dollar or whatever for cage free. Try it before you knock it. Your shakes will be out of this world.

Power walking on the tread mill after a workout is good for the body. Helps with recovery especially after a leg day. You dont get all the sore ness the next morning after a leg workout. I walk 30 minutes after every work. Makes a difference for me.

Sam you can use a colander with a bowl under it and just poor the beef in in the colander. Let it sit and shake a couple times until you get the desired amount of fat off. Put foil in the bowl as well and you can even wrap the fat in the foil and throw it away. Wrap means just pinch the corners together to make a sack looking thing.

@@claytonervin2696 It's a good tip really though. Like he said if you use foil then you only have to clean the colander, and you can just throw it in the dishwasher if you have one that works. It's annoying to stand there draining grease from 3-5 pounds of ground beef using just a lid.

@@imageword5576 Well yea I understand it's a good tip brother. I grew up under my great-grandmother who taught me to cook so when I heard sam say he drains by just tilting the pans I cringed and thought "why doesn't bro just use a fuckin colander or atleast use slotted spoon with paper towels instead of risking the whole meal. Just sayin he prolly isn't gonna do all that. Who cares have a nice day.

@@descendencyThe volume per calorie of broccoli and cauliflower are magic. In terms of flavour the addition of spinach to ground beef is the difference between night and day for me. The addition of kidney beans and some hot sauce with a small side of white rice and I have one of my favourite go to meals.

I read that the reason why the fiber rich foods are not listed with lower calories is because the gut of a healthy human will turn fiber into fat hence the fiber still listed as calories. Cows get so much fat from fiber but we humans dont have the proper stomach but we still do ferment fiber.

For canned chicken I love to make a buffalo chicken grilled cheese. Throw some franks hot sauce in a bowl and mix it around with the chicken, put it on some bread with a couple of fat free singles from Walmart. Spray some I can’t believe it’s not butter on the outside of the bread and heat it up on the skillet. Quick, easy, good amount of protein not too heavy on the carbs if you use a carb balance bread, and it tastes almost as good as the ones they make at Quiktrip.

I’m going down my first real cut right now at the same time as you. I started dabbling with some of those tiktok low cal high protein “cake” recipes. Its been helping me a lot with my cravings. I made small individuals loaf at around 280cal and 22g proteins, pair that with two small containers of low fat greek yogurt and you got a nice snack/meal full of proteins. Low the videos Sam, it’s motivating me to keep at it! I’m the leanest i ever been right now and want to lose a few more pounds so all the tricks in the books are welcomed at this point!
