Born in 69 this was a HUGE part of my childhood! Waiting for my Dad to be off work at Midnight, from a long GM work week. Friday nights he would grab an Arts Pizza... me and Mom would be up watching Sammy and just waiting on Dads headlights to pierce through the front window so we could pour him a cold Coke and wait for our pizza. Great childhood memories i will always cherish! Miss my Mom everyday and so glad i can reflect on found childhood memories.. Thanks Sammy. " Bob"

We used to watch his show every Friday night while eating a Bob's Tu Your Door pizza. I was rarely scared by the movies, but Sammy Terry always scared me to death. When we moved to TN in 1977 I really missed getting to watch his show, there was nothing like him on the air down here. Watching this brought chills to my spine again. His goulish laugh is all that it takes.

I remember watching him in the 80s! I would hurry up to make sure I was home to see him with my friends, also I should say that when he came on Friday Night at Midnight I always was able to make sure that the lights was out in my room! Indiana lost a legend a few years ago but he will never be forgotten.

Growing up and going to school I was always happy when Friday arrived. It meant no school for two days and it was time for Sammy Terry in the evening. I loved his show and still have many fond memories of watching. It's sad that kids today no longer care about this. They see so many things now on movies with all of the sex, blood, and gore that they don't have to have an imagination. Perhaps that's why all we get from Hollywood anymore is just movies are about past TV series or old movies. Those running Hollywood lack any imagination so they have to show everything and reboot all of the old stuff along with 5 sequels to one hit movie.

Sammy Terry SCARED the jeepers out of us back in the early 70's in Brazil, I was ok until the "laugh" then the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, (and they actually just did just now) I got to meet "Sammy" as an adult 1989/90 and I must admit, I have met rock stars, a few movie stars, even a President of the United States of America, and never once became "star struck" until I met Sammy Terry. Friday night Sammy Terry, Saturday night Science Fiction Theater ......ohhhhhhh the horrors LOL, Thanks WTTV 4. Sammy & George fan for LIFE !!!R.I.P Mr. Carter

Sammy was always the best. He didn't just play it for yuks; he was actually really pretty scary sometimes. Growing up in the 70's I never missed his show. He played all those old Universal horror films and great stuff like 'It! The Terror from Beyond Space' and 'Night of the Demon.' I actually wish someone would compile an episode list of all the movies he played over the years. Always the best.

The mother of an old school buddy of mine worked P/T at WTTV-4 and she used to tell this story of how one night she was working late (and she THOUGHT alone) in the copy room typing up some copy. So she hears this soft-spoken voice saying "pardon me" and tap her on the shoulder. She jumps a little and when she turns around, there in full costume is Sammy Terry. Well.. after letting out a blood-curdling scream, "Sammy" explained that the fellow that usually operated "George", (Sammy's spider) was unavailable and asked if her she would mind manning the cane pole that George was suspended from. She said she wasn't sure who was more scared, her or Sammy!! 😁

When it was over, I sneaked into the front office where I found him alone and kicked back in a chair smoking a cigarette and I said "I'm not afraid of you" Sammy just raised up real slow out of the chair and started that creepy laugh while walking towards me, I realized it was just me and Sammy and it scared the shit out of me...and I ran out of there...lol

Interesting, some of you saw him on local channels in Indiana. I was in Trenton/west Middletown, Ohio, nearby enough. I don’t remember what channel, but I know the tv was small and had three knobs and no remote. We laid on the living room floor and watched tv all night, fell asleep to it. This guy is why I was a dark poet in my youth. Listen to all the stuff he talks about fearing, and that’s all true to this day and then some.

Every Friday mom got groceries and we'd have our weekly treat, a gallon of ice cream when it was 99 or 1.99 a gallon and chocolate syrup and we'd usually have bologna and chips for supper and later when Sammy came on we'd have a big bowl of ice cream, sitting on the floor watching Sammy and George and being scared to death. Those were the good ole days. I found the movie of the Screaming Skull, I could barely watch it, that one scared the life out of me still today. Sammy's son looks a lot like him, I'm glad he took it over.

He was a special guy who could scare us all half to death! LOL. I wonder how many people were watching Friday nights as I was. I would lay on the floor right in front of the tv with one arm propping my head up, just waiting to be scared! Thanks Sammy Terry for all the childhood memories you provided me with! I've talked about you with others countless times, as they too recalled their memories of watching. You were one of a kind!! RIP and we will miss you...
