I just love the way you think. Shelling in the water -- "it feels like a video game to me!" That sunrise was stunning! And when it was over, you consoled yourself, "but now I can see the seashells much better." I admit, I tend to charge into the water when there are dolphins. Never really thought twice about it, but next time I'll hear your voice, "I don't want to be knocked over by an 800 pound dolphin, thank you very much!" And thank YOU very much for taking me along on another beautiful shell-filled beach walk.

My mom found Sanibel in a 1/16 page ad in a magazine in the late 80s. We’ve gone for thanksgiving most years since. Love this place, reminds of simpler days. Back then you could spend 8 hours on the beach and see maybe 10 elderly couples shell hunting.

If that's an option for you (and you're not doing it already), I hope you'll give it a try. I know you want to do everything for him yourself, familiar with that feeling, but if your health breaks down because of exhaustion, that's no good either. Sorry.. That was a great walk and a beautiful sunrise! Nice to see the hotel ready to reopen, too, and the beach work that has been done! Lots of good finds, as usual! You know, the reason I don't learn the latin names are because I have no idea how to pronounce them--same with botanical names! Maybe we should start with some easier ones, like the nauticas/naticas or the cones!
@SWFBeachLife11 ай бұрын
The only reason I'm interested in the scientific names is they don't change from region to region. Some of these shells are called different things in different areas and it makes it confusing. The scientific name is the same no matter where you find the shell or critter. I'm more of a relaxed type of gal, but there is an appeal there for me to learn at least a few of those scientific names 😌

What do you do with all of the shells you find?

I get asked that question a lot so I made a video of my collection: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYu0h3aBeK-EkM0

What does it really mean if it is a false shark eye? Is there a different kind of animal that live is there? Thank you for the videos. I always look forward to them!

The animals look identical, but they just make their shells a wee bit different.

True shark eyes and false shark eyes. Are they created by entirely different animals? Or are the false ones made by critters who just didn't follow the standard playbook?

Someone REALLY interested in these critters did some DNA testing and the animals are indeed wee bit different. They essentially look the same, but they make their shells a little different. It's a miracle I even know about the difference. There is not a lot of good shell info out there!

Thanks! You know what they say. If you can't find the book you want, maybe that's because you're the one who has to write it.

@@CorinneHSmith You know, I might do just that! 🙏🏼
