I definitely like that skirt on you. Yay for a SAS Fabrics haul, you picked up some good ones. You are right,they don't have the composition on anything, just on those signs. Oh my gosh, we have the same issue with our property management company. I miss being a home owner, my husband and I wanted to be down here 3yrs before deciding on neighborhood to buy in. Nikki you will do well in school. The smart person in the room is the one that realizes what they dont know and ask for help in understanding. If you knew the subject there would be no need to take the class. Just dont be afraid to ask for help-your professors 1. Are there for you 2 Get paid by you and 3. Will get paid whether you pass or not - so girl make them work for their money😁. Tim sounds like he is channeling his inner Hefner so do it the way he wants. The skirt is really nice.

Pretty skirt! I love stretch cotton sateen and need to buck up my collection (does that sound far fetched??) but I just can’t seem to find any that grabs me. Congrats on sewing a bag!! Looks like a lot of interesting materials on that. The Advance robe is killer! I chuckled at crushed velvet but it will probably be quite a stylin’ robe for Tim! He’ll have to saunter out to the end of the driveway in it to get the morning paper!😄 You’re the Stripes Girl and I think your pastel stripes will make such a cool and cute dress! SAS must be a lot of fun.

I think I am just disappointed that I have to go to school all day on my sewing meetup day. Of all the days to have class all day long, it had to be that one. I will be excited once I am in it, but I am not excited for a week of orientation.

LOL speaking as a Mom, you are a mature student and you need to set an example! lmao! I went back to school when I was 38 and the kids were 17-21 and they called me Mom! lol Now most of them are married with kids and I feel like I have oodles of grand babies that I don't have to babysit! lol I love your fabric picks, the wavy blue sateen you could make some funky capris, the Easter stripe you could make into a fitted shirt-waist dress with a circle skirt (or half circle), the cotton blue/ white stripe would make a cute skirt like the one you are wearing in the video. Love the project bag, you did an awesome job freehand quilting for your first time! Your buddy's book cover is pretty neat, I still think the glittery puff the magic dragon fabric I offered you would have been more fun! Have an great time at orientation and behave! hahahaha

Cecile, I very seriously considered using something crazy, but I wanted him to actually use it, so I decided to tone it down quite a few notches even though my inner drag queen was screaming for glitter and crazy. I am guessing I will probably be one of the older students, although its grad school so it wont be as insane as it was when I was getting my undergrad. Most of them should be around 23-24, lol... Also, its graduate school only campus, so not so much crazy partying idiots around. I will report back and see how it goes. I also had the same thoughts about capri pants with that blue and white. Great minds think alike!

I wonder if you make a looser waist on your skirts than the pattern calls for - and larger than your size - and inch or two, it will sit a little lower and not ride up (I have a ... ahem... large bootie myself), then do the rest of the sizing on the skirts as normal. If you don't like the fit, you can always alter it back in. It has never occurred to me to make book covers, what a great idea! Love the fabrics, wonderful happy colors!!

So, I hear what your saying and I have tried it, what ends up happening is the whole skirt just shifts upward anyway and then hovers around my waist like a hula hoop. It is annoying as hell and this never used to happen 40 lbs ago. But this skirt is good, it worked! It never occurred to me to make book covers either, I am not really the craft type, but it was a special request by a Navy friend who has always done his best to help me out so I did it. It was surprisingly easy!

LOL, you'll do great at school. Wear ear buds and listen to music (one bud out so you can hear what is important at the same time). Or take your laptop (or phone) and play a game while you're listening but keep a 2nd screen showing so they see that you're "taking notes". 4 days of orientation is nuts! It's not like you're some teen on your own for the first time! I've gone to several schools (multiple degrees) and what THEY think is important may not be what YOU feel is important. You're the customer (you pay their salary), sometimes they forget that. Will certainly miss you. Good luck!

The skirt is lovely. I especially like the details at the waist with the tie. Good job. I graduated from grad school the same year my daughter graduated from university. As an adult you go back with a more mature perspective. ...... Advice? ......Sit in the front seat of each class when ever possible; fewer distractions. At least you avoid other students playing with their hair, moving books around and the general fidgeting that happens in the class room. You can absorb more which cuts down on study time. I like the skirt and it looks cute on your figure. Your free motion quilting is just fine. That is how a long time quilter would do too do so stop putting your sewing down. It looks fabulous. With the blue shirting fabric - is it suitable to do a button down shirt dress? I think that would be perfect. Just my opinion which I know you didn't ask for...lol
