Shout out to Porsche for having it on the configurator day of launch - BMW & Mercedes really gotta work on their 3+ month delays.

Great work as always!! Disappointed they went to a fully digital cluster but that's how it is...

The complexity of that oiling system is daunting. Semi dry sump with directed oil as needed? Typical German solution. Man, this thing is really loaded with new tech. Very similar to the eRay Vette on the hot lap strategy stuff on max attack. Sounds like a pretty thorough overhaul.

Poor Swabian guy. He was so shy. And his "schwäbele"-English was so cute. I wanted to give him a hug. 🥺 Kudos to him to come to talk to you in front of a camera. He wasnt used to it, but he managed to give us valuable information.

at some point it's interesting that it's still an exhaust-based turbo at all - seems like you could just make an e-supercharger and then package it anywhere? including at the front of the car entirely for weight and space reasons

The point is to recover otherwise wasted exhaust energy. Boosting overall efficiency

This is peak internal combustion engine. Just looking at it boggles my mind. Incredible engineering for sure.

Jack, great to see you doing these interviews and you’re so darn knowledgeable but you gotta stop making a statement and then saying “correct” at the end to make it into a question. A million other ways to form an interview question. Keep it up though, guys.

I watched the launch video, and Jack talking to the engineers had more energy and way more sincerity than the presenter in that video. Though she was certainly prettier than Jack.

Loved the video. Jack, great question on battery capacity when running on a track. I caught they were at 100% at the start and about 0 when the lap finished. For the rest of us mortals doing HPDEs, would the battery last a 25 minute session at like AutoBahn Club or Road America? How long does it take to then get the battery back to 100%?

Wow thats how hybrid engines are done right! Keep the weight down and improve on power and responsiveness off the drivetrain. Well done Jack and Porsche!

Wowowowo a brand new Porsche engine. That’s synonymous with reliability right ?! Right ?
@MadMike9915 ай бұрын
Very cool technology, but I’d be worried about long term reliability. Maybe I’m just getting old but it just seems like so many more things could break on this (with time). I have a 991.2 and the wastegate failed on one of the turbos. At least that’s one thing you don’t have to worry about with the 992.2.
@shahrukhbakar32485 ай бұрын
Yeah now you just have to worry about electrics imbedded in the turbo, a unique 400V battery, a water pump buried and driven by the oil pump for the sake of no accessory belt drive…great progress in reliability!!!

Love the technical interviews on how this system functions, I am curious on how it will truly function out on the road and longer term. So glad they didn't make it a PHEV, like the E-Ray and on other performance cars so you don't run out of juice beside on a track where most won't go. Now if only the depreciation will kick in and demand slow on the older cars along with the flippers so I can get one.

For those who understand that heat is the biggest enemy of magnet motors, sandwiching it in between a hot turbo housing takes some work to solve the temperature issue. Although being skeptical at first of the hybrid, now reading the full spec, it is a great advancement. But hopefully, it solves the Porsche hybrid issue from the old days: once the battery is dead, the entire car stops.

He dodged the question very blatantly, but for those wondering, yes, the analogue tach was ditched purely to save cost. It’s a part count decrease. Much easier and cheaper to have one screen.
