Dosing Wormers Panacur 100 mg for every Kilogram. Flagyl (Metranidizole) I dose a bit heavy but 75 - 125 mg/kg (Fishzole = Flagyl) Buy online Droncit (Praziquantel) 8mg per Kilogram. To convert pounds to Kilgrams (1,000 grams). Weigh animal in pounds and divide by 2.2, this number is weight in Kilograms. Take this number and multiply by the DOSE and this number is how many Milligrams to dose the animal. Milligrams are 10 to the negative third. 100 Millgrams = .100 Grams. So 1,000 Millgrams (mg) = 1 Gram.

I need help!! I keep finding what looks like tiny white worms in the bath of my Savannah enclosure! can you give me the list of meds you use. there supposed to be all captive bred but my latest specimen seems suspect. I use the same scrubber for my axanthic albino iguana project and my future albino Savannah project. am I cross contaminating ? if I am, can I use the same meds on Savannahs and iguanas?

Hey! I have a sav too and I'm no expert, I only have him and a tegu, but he's in good shape and so I'll share what I do with him. He's 3' long, 6 pounds or maybe 6.5 I cannot remember, but I feed him Sunday- one xl mouse (small/medium rat) and a small portion of berries, the size of his head, and one egg. Tuesday- chicken liver and feet... two feet and two or three livers. Then Thursday I have a Kong dog toy that I fill with chicken chunks and water then freeze and give to them when I go to work, probably a handful of chicken breast without the toy but the toy gives them a lot of mental stimulus so I'd definitely recommend it!

Whitney's information is incorrect and a quick way to make your sav obese. They dont eat mice primarily. Their main diet should consist of insects such as crickets, meal worms, horn worms, super worms, wax worms, roaches, and red worms. Mice should only be offered as a rare treat one to two times a month tops you can also feed quail eggs as an occasional treat as well

Dan Poole most savs are wild caught its incredibly hard to find a true CB. What does your enclosure and temps look like?

So, our almost 3 yr old Savannah has regurgitated his past 2 feedings. Not everything, just 1 of the 2-3 mice that he ate. We thought not much of it, thinking that it was just too much and he needed to toss up the last mouse. But now we think we have a bigger issue on our hands because... We fed him 5-6 raw ground turkey balls 2 days ago, about golf ball sized, which he gobbled up just fine. Well, yesterday we smelled the most foul stench in his room. Sure enough a small wet spot, seemingly poo, was on his cage floor. We assumed poo or regurgitation on his ground turkey that he was too full on. He seemed fine otherwise. We let him float in a nice warm bath while we cleaned his cage and put him back afterwards... As we were getting into bed last night, there was that smell again! But this time, it was pretty tiny. Concerned, we cleaned it up and went to bed to address it in the morning... This morning we went to see him and GOOD LORD another vomit but this one was much more than the others and he was just chillin, sleeping right by it as if he didn't even move after throwing up. It is really worrying is now and I'm calling the vet first thing in the morning to get him in! We have had Savannahs off and on for most of our lives, so we're no stranger to their needs and he's pretty set up in the spare bedroom with a large chicken coop enclosure, two heat sources, den with heating and light. He gets frozen mice, fresh water, 2nd water source and bath time to soak and swim. Hes overall very happy and healthy, until this....HELP!!!! Has anyone else experienced this before? If so, what was your baby's problem? Was he sick, parasites, etc? Did he get better and how?

How do you accurately determine the gender? Can they be sexed visually or do you just have to look for them to evert their hemipenes if it's a male? I'm guessing they can't be popped like a snake...

You can get probes made for reptile sexing (super cheap) to stick in their cloaca, going towards the tip of the tail, and if the probes go in more than the width of the cloacal opening it's a male and if they go in the same width as the cloacal opening it's a female. I had to do this procedure on my tegu but with my sav, a confirmed male, I knew he was a male because of first some pheno cues. Males have blocky heads and their noses are blunt and their nostrils are two big bumps at the tip of their nose. Females have a rather slanted head and not much of a bump with their nostrils. Also he has very noticeable bulges at the start of his tail behind the cloaca. And lastly, he shows his hemipenes almost everytime he uses the bathroom.

I have a Male, about a year old. I spend a lot of time with him so he acts like your water monitors. He comes to the door when he wants out, loves back rubs, likes to climb all over people he knows. If I lived near you, I would work with your girls for free. They act stressed which can make them sick. Try to get volunteers that would just hang out with them. Touching and force handling don't work with them. Just hang out, tong feed bugs or worms, talk to them. Sounds weird but it works and the monitor will start coming to you once he/she trusts you. Mine thinks he's one of the kids.

Ok, some females may naturally attempt to drive a male away as they protect their territory and want their own space. THis is rather natural, many Indo monitor females will KILL males even when the male is larger!!! Providing them with unique hide areas can decrease this....tubes, lots of them to stop visual contact would be a first step. I find they like tubes far more than they like to burrow!!!!

Thank you for the advice. I threw in an old tire and some more hides which create obstacles to see across the cage. Shes not overly aggressive towards him but shes just shy/sketchy and will chase his tail sometimes and bite it. I also have 2 basking areas but they both seem to enjoy the same one unfortunately.. Was thinking of trying to maybe move a basking spot to another location.

I ended up getting a blackthroat monitor.... i think he was wildcaught, hes still under 3 years old. His anus was bleeding, horrifically. Does anyone have experience with this on here, they say it could be because parasites. Hes being treated right now, but i wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this before. It was gnarly, he was spraying blood on every side of the cage. They ruled out fatty liver disease.
