Wow Scott I think you got it. When you popped back up with that crazy metal thing, I was like hmmm, but the proof is in the pudding, as they say 😎.

I've always wondered why I'd never seen other DIY Fletcher-Capstan tables, following your series makes it clear why. Great stuff.

Watching that open and close is so satisfying. If I ever find the time to build one I know I'm just going to sit in the dining room opening and closing it until my wife attacks me with a frying pan. It will be worth it.

I have been following this build for what seems like a long time. I find it fascinating. I am impressed with your engineering and your bull dogged determination to make this thing work. A minor point I would like to make is that you are one of the few people I have heard pronounce "et cetera" correctly.

Will be nice to see when this being a fully completed build. But know that will probably be in a month or two or maybe more.

That looks amazing. Congrats on an awesome build. speculating, how difficult would it be to add a motor (s)?
@ScottRumschlag4 ай бұрын
Thanks. Rotation motor should be fairly straightforward as it can be mounted underneath. The skirt motor would be trickier due to space constraints, but is certainly possible.

@@ScottRumschlag When you do make the plans available how would we be able to get them?

Awesome job. Looking forward to the plans. Do you think you might sell parts kits for the mechanical parts?

Thanks. It's a possibility, demand is the main factor.

@@ScottRumschlag This is so exciting! I won't have time to build anything like this for awhile, but just looking at the plans would be so fun! Looking forward to it! This is an incredible project. You've done an amazing job.

@@ScottRumschlag Sounds great. Would appreciate initial plan purchasers (or kit purchasers) get free upgrades to the plans. I would like to help you out by buying plans early, but it will be several years before I'll be able to build, if ever. Undoubtedly there will be upgrades or plan changes over time.

Very cool. Ever thought to add a motor and a little code so it can open and close at the press of a button?

Thanks, it could be an interesting add-on in future.

Personally, this is something that should be totally analog. Old world engineering and all.

Great great stuff! I have followed your work over the years. One Q: Why did you go for 4 leafs and not 6 as in the 'original'?
@ScottRumschlag4 ай бұрын
Thanks. Not enough room at this size, 6 makes sense on a larger one though.
@TheIbisian4 ай бұрын
As a designer i would like to suggest you make the contour of the smaller version not round. Instead I would use the shape of the contracted table as a reference. This would end in an almost round table with a much better readable surface - in my opinion 😂.
@ScottRumschlag4 ай бұрын
That would definitely be easier to engineer. I'm focusing on "round in both states" for now because it's the been requested many times.
@FelixSalazar4 ай бұрын
@@ScottRumschlag I really liked your version that was round in the small version, and the larger version were just straight edges. So the extended was technically a square with rounded corners, but the rounding radius was like 35% of the square side
@ScottRumschlag4 ай бұрын
@@FelixSalazar Thanks. "Round in both states" is easily the most common request I've had, so optimizing for that was a priority in this version.
@matschase4 ай бұрын
Hi, would the table be scalable to a certain degree? We need sth for like 8 people when expanded
@ScottRumschlag4 ай бұрын
Scaling is possible but can get tricky, everything needs to scale together and some clearances/etc may need to be adjusted. I may design a larger 6 panel version later.
@matschase4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your response

Scott: I really appreciate your "tribute to weight lifting" kettle ball inspired dining table, but what's all that expansion "exshamsion" stuff that's going on at its top? 😉 Joking aside, your intellect may only be surpassed by your perseverance and I look forward to buying your new plans when they are released.
