I've just ordered a pair of these wide Scribes (50mm deep both ends). I've never before seen anyone fit a tyre by placing it over both sides of the rim first. What a genius idea ! Can't wait to try this fitting procedure out. (and yes, I agree I need to get out more).

I think I got the idea from a Scribe YT video actually, worked really well and they popped on with a lot less effort than I expected. Had seen other poeple fit tubeless tyres to carbon rims were they ended up using tyre levers, did not fancy that. They are nice rims, was tempted by the 50mm ones as they look so cool. BTW I've got a follow up video after the first 500 miles, still love them, make the bike feel so much nicer.

Brilliant wheels. Make sure you grease the hub before adding the cassette on. They actually get progressively louder with rides. I love them they're excellent wheels.

Yes really nice wheels. Freehub is quite loud, almost embarrassingly loud but getting used to it, useful when coming up behind people.

@@davidb5255 Yes, you don't need any bicycle bell anymore :) ))), I heard, that the hub is extremly noise, but i don't mind,,, :), I'm getting a pair of those,, i don;t know,, to go on 38 front 50 back , or 50 on both sides? (i go for the rim brake)
@davidb52552 жыл бұрын
@@goalboy19 38 front would certainly reduce the effects of cross wind, and they would still look sweet.

@goalboy19 BTW I made a followup 500 mile ride review video you may want to check out.

Thank you, I'm considering the Scribe 365 aluminium wheelset for my daily commute and it's useful to have customer feedback on their wheels. They do seem to be a bit lighter and cheaper than the more established brands...I keep expecting there to be a catch!
@davidb52552 жыл бұрын
So far I've not found the catch and that's after a few hundred miles. Still really like them.

@@davidb5255 Took the plunge and bought them, I'm impressed. I cycled 200 miles so far, including a 100 mile Audax. Thanks

@Ohforahill Did you go for the alluminium wheels or splash out on the carbon rims?

Did I miss the freehub sound check?
@davidb52552 жыл бұрын
I think I did a brief spin when I unboxed but not properly. I'm going to do an update hopefully this weekend now I've had a chance to put some miles on the wheels and a sound check will definitely be included. Just as a spoiler, it is loud, possibly not to everyones taste.

How have you liked the Scribes? I've just ordered the same set.
@davidb52552 жыл бұрын
I really like them, they feel fast and responsive but not too twitchy in gusty cross winds (at least not on the rides I've been on so far). My Strava times are maybe a little faster on some sections, too early to really say for certain as this time of the year tends to be windy and as all cyclists know the wind is always in you face. They are much lighter than my old wheels and the hub bearings don't wobble (cup and cone are so difficult to set up just right). That said with the lower weight they possibly lose traction on slippery surfaces a bit more easily as I'm quite light myself but that's a small price to pay. The tubeless set up was a cinch, still not sure about that on a road bike but time will tell. Really pleased I bought them. Do wonder if I should have gone for the 50mm profile, but I think the 42mm was probably the best choice for me and they look sweet.

MY BROTHER IN CHRIST: WHY DO YOU MAKE A WHEEL VIDEO WITHOUT FREEHUB SOUND CHECK?! /s but it would be nice.
@davidb52552 жыл бұрын
There is a brief hub spin-up in the hand around 14:12 into the video. I'm about to upload a ride review update which has a full freehub sound check on the bike.
