Gohan doesn't want to be there, he's there cause his homie Piccolo got packed up and he wants to revive him. Gohan had his innocents robbed from him by bastard ass aliens, then HD comes to this planet and finds the frieza force doing the exact same thing to the Namekians of course he's locked in here. Just when alls said and done he still doesn't want anything to do with this life. Nigga got his neck snapped by a grown ass man at 6 years old. You couldn't catch me on a battlefield after that. I hated what they did to Gohan to very a long time, but after a while I respected it. It makes sense,the difference between Gohan and Goku is that for Goku's entire life, the only thing he's ever been is a fighter. It's all he knows. Half Saiyan, Half Human. Gohan has lived a life of duality. He helped save the world while living in a two parent household (barely) and going to school. He got kidnapped by his uncle and traveled across space to fight a bunch of aliens, all before he was even 10yrs old. After all that trauma, I can't blame him for seeking stability in his adulthood. In layman's terms, Gohan left the hood, and only comes around when shit gets critical.

It wasn't fans, it was literally all Akira, he wasn't pressured by Toei or fans into making the Buu arc or resurrecting Goku for it. He literally just wanted to do it for some reason. That's a popular misconception. We do know that his editor heavily influenced the Android Saga by continuing to bring out new villains from Gero to 17 & 18 and then finally Cell they were making that up as they went. Akira wanted it to just be Gero at first, but he was boring so they made the Androids and had their young, brash, sociopath personalities to make it better. But then they wanted a more epic villain so they conceived Cell. This is probably why the Room of Spirit and Time became the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. They had to rapidly power up the Saiyans to challenge new the threats somehow. But the Buu Saga? He just didn't like how he wrapped up Vegeta's character at the end of the Cell Saga is my guess and went back to the lab and made a whole arc revolving around him. Gohan got dropped off because his character arc was mostly finished so Akira just didn't know what to do with him. Kinda like how Goku's journey really ends in OG DB and in DBZ he's a plot device for the most part despite being the "main character" If anything the fans have been screeching for Gohan to be relevant again past for the last 20 years and we get Super Hero as a result

Teen Titans was my bread and butter when I was a kid glued to Cartoon Network for hours daily and that new version just didn't move me at all. Honestly instead of bringing Frieza back 17 times they should have made cooler canon. They could have gotten into other Saiyan survivors instead of just redoing Goku.
