non stick, aluminium, stainless steel, plastic cause cancer and other chronic diseases due to leaching of toxic chemicals into food which accumulates in the body. Please only use mud pots or pure iron utensils called 'sarbloh' which is what Sikhs use to cook in. Avoid all other materials. Also you can store water in copper vessels that is very benefical for health. Avoid microwaves, they cause cancer as well as destroy nutrients in food.
@ShwetaGupta-hd6yk5 жыл бұрын
The rubber or plastic spatulas and brushes that you are talking about are actually made of silicone (although plz check the labels). Rubber and plastic are not suitable for cooking however silicone is absolutely fine as it does not react with food, same for clay pots, cast iron cookware, glass and ceramics. Microwave is by and large safe as well.

I do not wash rice. Rice here do not have any dirt or any impurities. I do not strain rice either. I just soak the rice in water many hours and cook it until it is dry. Also, I do not eat rice in large quantities anyway. I am thinking of pressure cooking a small quantity of rice really smooth, grind it in grinder and mix it up in water to form rice-water to immerse for 3 days when I buy a pot for cooking rice. I have pots already for cooking fish. When it is time to discard them, I will do the same, apply oil in them to get it seasoned. Am I doing it right ? Great lesson.
@HappyHomeMakerTamil6 жыл бұрын
Jo C Hi. It is always better to strain the excess starch from rice. Please watch this video for reason : kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z33CYmRpmbJrZ6M. Wash rice with water thrice and collect the water. Cook rice and strain the excess starch. Add both and dilute with more water. This can be used for seasoning pots. ☺

@HappyHomeMakerJayasrecipes6 жыл бұрын
It is better to avoid those pots. Handmade pots using clay is the best.
@CreekRoadPotteryLLC5 жыл бұрын
While this may work out ok I think here is the states it would open makers up to litigation as one person getting sick off microbes could sink a whole business. You are correct to raise concerns about plaster of paris. There maybe other safer ways of doing it. Any time a person talks of health benefits they have a bad time finding true research outside of simply common traditional ideas. I am sure food cooked this way it very delicious and there is no need to make health claims about as a value proposition.

@HappyHomeMakerJayasrecipes4 жыл бұрын
Yes. You are right. Pots absorb flavours. You have to use individual pots for each kind of dish. Do not mix the vessels. For example pots used for vegetarian dishes shouldn't be mixed with pots used to cook non vegetarian dishes

something that I was looking for. very informative one question... how to clean the pot after the cooking is done I am told it should not be washed with soap because the pores will absorb soap also... so how to clean the pots after use
@HappyHomeMakerTamil6 жыл бұрын
Aishwaryas world Hi. Thank you. Pots can be just scrubbed and rinsed. If oily Pots can be cleaned using ash, gram flour, Rice flour. If it is very oily and smells bad, add some vinegar or lemon peels and boil. Cool and clean it. It can be repeated till the pot is clean if it is very greasy. ☺

thank you so much.. one more question. can we leave the food that we cooked in the pot itself and if so for how long or should it be shifted to another vessel. can the pot be kept in the fridge with the for cooked?
@HappyHomeMakerTamil6 жыл бұрын
Aishwaryas world Hi. After cooking it is better to transfer it to serving bowls. If we keep food for long the pots will start smelling bad soon. It will also become difficult to clean. Food kept in pots for long will enhance the kapha component in your body leading to cold and phlegm. Keeping pots in fridge is not advisable. Cooling and heating will make the pots weak.☺
