@@julieanna2228 Someone with hypothyroidism in the family here!." In general, 5-10 pounds of body weight may be attributable to the thyroid, depending on the severity of the hypothyroidism". Hyperthyroidism existed before the obesity epidemic. My mother is obsese, and I am a healthy weight but on the upper end. The difference? She eats a bowl of chocolate every night, larger portions than me. Yet complains constantly because she has "low fat" foods and goes to weight watchers every week. Me? I lift heavy weights. do HIIT in the gym 3 times week and watch every mouthful that goes into my mouth. I don't eat chocoate, chips, crisps, fried foods or even bread that often. I rarely eat pasta or rice. I'm on the upper end of healthy because of my hormones. My mum is obese because she eats terribly and won't walk across the road. Yes hypothyroidism can make you about a stone or two overweight, but if you metabolism got so low that 1000 calories a day would make you gain weight, you'd have a LOT more seriously wrong with you than you weight.

Our choice of ‘foods’ and info on social media is so messed up these days, we must look to our ancestors for ideas on how we should be eating to thrive. The rich want to keep the nutritious foods for themselves.. while everyone else must live on sugar and veg. It’s organic animal products that are the way to go. Said from personal experience!

I started drinking more to combat constant headaches from dehydration (bad at remembering to drink enough, so I bought a re-usable bottlle and keep it with me constantly) and you do eat less if you drink enough, some people mistake needing a drink for feeling hungry if they aren't used to listening to their body, so drinking more might well help you lose a bit of weight by eating less, but not by as much as Katie thinks

Anna, if there is a slim ;) chance of you reading this comment - thank you for the great job you are doing. Especially surprising in the best possible way is that you manage to avoid fat-shaming people. You are genuinely sympathetic towards them and there's never a shade of "shame on you, you should be ashamed of yourself, you lazy cow" - like remarks that are overused in similar programmes. They may have dramatic effect that would stir certain emotions, but are totally counter-productive as for weight loss. Your sense of humour is cruelty-free and I find the kind approach towards dieters much more effective than typical bullying. There are other ways to reach people and you are using them well. I am watching the series with personal interest - need to loose a stone or two ;) and am going to use some strategies mentioned. Thanks for being so kind :)
