I've been drinking heavily for 12 years and been binge drinking for the last 7 months. I ended up doing some time behind bars and was forced to get sober and I was the happiest I'd been in a very long time, so I know being sober is a better life and one that I really want. I've lost a lot and wasted so many years of my life its sickening. Anyway this was my first day without a drink in a long time. I know this feeling very well but it helps listen to ppl experiencing it or who has gone through it. Appreciate the channel and the positive vibe

Hang in there, Matt. Things will get better. Like Jae says, envision where you want to be in the future. Write down One daily goal. (My advice that one be " Don't Drink.) One weekly goal, One Monthly goal, One yearly goal...and so on. Seriously, write that shit down and read it out loud as soon as you wake up every day. No excuses. If those things on the paper are truly what you want in life, they will happen. I promise you. 👊

I never look up videos on sobriety or anything so it was so weird when you popped up. After almost 15 years of heavy drinking, I'm 4 days sober. I'm nervous but excited. Trying really hard to stay positive. I don't know if I would be this encouraged if I hadn't seen your videos thou so thank you.

First, congrats on the Cavs gig! 👏 Second, 15 days...again! Third, I'm not affiliated but "Mint" is a great free budgeting tool app for those that need it. 'Cause finances can be hard. Anyways, projecting expectations on others is a terrible side-effect of drinking. I'm not proud of it but I've done this for years to my wife and I''m sure many others. Ugh. It's unbelievable how "sober me" can see the damage that I've caused so clearly but "drunk me" just doesn't give a shit. Thanks for another great episode. You're really helping me stay grounded. 🙏

@@bigrus0078 Hell yeah, get that month and keep going! I've got a float / camping trip with a bunch of friends coming up in a few weeks. I've been mentally building myself up for that. These things are typically a floating 3 day party so I'm a bit concerned what my mindset will be when I'm in it but I'm staying positive about the path I'm on. Thanks! 🙏👊

I've really busted my ass in so many jobs but, at some point, I self-sabotage and all that effort counts for nothing. Drink is not your friend. We often have some fun experiences with it when we are young but there comes a time when it just doesn't help for anything.

great video today! i watch you but haven’t really commented - i was going to jokingly say i like you more now than when i first watched you lol. Honestly you have something good here & it is growing your doing a great job. I know in a past video you said something along the lines ‘if i only need to watch your videos to get through the 1st 2 weeks or month to sustain from alcohol than so be it’ But i feel like this channel is keeping me grounded focused & definitely inspiring. I can feel how passionate you are about helping others hence why i think i like your channel more & more. You definitely have something good growing here & look forward to see where it goes. I am currently 112 days alcohol free & life has been challenging me a lot lately to ‘have a drink’ Today was hard! My heart is heavy. (related to a sick family member with covid) I want a drink so bad but I haven’t broke my promise to myself. I felt this way on & off in my journey I remember day 50 day 70 feeling the urge to drink. Sobriety is a choice I know drinking won’t fix the problem, but having others who understand & videos like this are so helpful to those on their sober journey.

Well I'm glad that you reached out it's a really good feeling to know that these messages are resonating with so many people, yourself included! I really want to help people to find their strength and their courage to be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be. I'm trying to be the person for me that I didn't have in my life and it is ultimately up to me to be that person and I am very pleased that I can be of service to others in this way! So thank you for reaching out, and saying so, it's comments like these that continue to motivate me to do better, be better, and continue to put out more content to serve you along your journey! Be well and stay blessed :) 112 days is AMAZING! Just think to yourself when the urge and the temptation to drink comes that those 112 days are yours and you're not willing to give them back. That if you drink tonight it would take 112 days in the future for you to get back to where you are currently standing. You have the power! 👁️

Hi, I am a week in today after many years of heavy drinking. Can anyone tell me when sleep becomes normal again? The first 4 nights I had a total of 11 hours of broken sleep and the first night none. The last 2 nights have been better but still only sleeping 2 hours at a time maximum but at least I have managed to get back to sleep again and getting around 4 hours. Is this normal and when does it get better? Thanks
@GettingSoberAgain3 жыл бұрын
Your body is healing. It was under assault for a long time. Not that it has a chance to heal and recover, you're certainly going to find yourself with a different sleep schedule as you find a new balance. Funny you should mention it, the last 2 nights went to bed at 11 and woke up at 230am...today is my 6 months of being sober. I normally sleep well, but I also just had my 2nd vax 2 days ago

@@gwillis01 thanks for your reply, I started drinking at age 15 or so and I am now 49 so it has been a while. The amounts have changed but for the last 20 years or so I have had min 6 to 8 drinks a day to at my worst 10lt of spirits a week. So I guess you can say I am or was a heavy drinker. I have no other side effects that I can tell though so that's good
