I hate planes, mate. Anyone that says otherwise is a liar. It's just not natural. I travel a lot but I have never been able to sleep once. Anxiety hits you as soon as the engine roars, and the only time I feel good is when I walk out at the other end.

I was traveling to Japan when we were experiencing heavy turbulence. There was someone from the row next to me that was still standing on the aisle bc they were waiting for someone from the middle seat who was still in the toilet bc they didn't want to go through the hazzle to leave their seat to make room for them. The urge to just tell them to sit down and fasten their seat belt, bc I didn't want them to hit their head on the ceiling.

@@mdaddy775 The point is that it isn't going to break from turbulence, just because it's thousands of feet in the air. they are prepared to handle way stronger forces than the strongest force you have ever felt during turbulence, no plane has ever had the wings broken off from turbulence, it is physically impossible, you would have to flight straight into a tornado for it to even be a possibility. 2 years ago i flew from LA to Frankfurt. And after 5 minutes of mild turbulences the flight attendants ran around telling everybody to sit down and to put their seatbelts on. I don’t know. Storm turbulence you are expecting and the pilot slows the plane down. I was in a flight during typhoon weather near Taiwan and the plane was all over the place losing lift. Then recently I had sudden clear air rough turbulence and it was more trippy bc the flight was smooth.

As a Boeing engineer that works in QA for the wings of the aircraft, I can assure you that the plane is perfectly safe. People freak out due to the sudden drops and bumps in the sky. It’s like driving on a really bumpy road. Nothing to be afraid off. Happy flying. *mind you, I have to make sure that the wings don’t fall off and that all 500+ bolts are torqued correctly. *

I watch this to see how bad the turbulences can be and the plane can still easily survive this and land safely in the end. It's because I'm sometimes scared of even a slight shake during the flight. It is irrational and I'm trying to find reasonable arguments not to be scared of small shakes, when I know that no plane has ever disassembled or got critically damanged due to turbulences. Why should I be scared if it only generates stress for no reason, I should be happy to experience the engeniering marvel of being able to fly instead.

I'm not even sure a plane ever crashed because of turbulences, probably never happened. At this point AP (Autopilot) is on and it's doing insane computations to keep the plane as steady as possible. It's extremely safe. But people still get scared because, yeah, it is scary to be rocking like that at 37,000-40,000ft. Next time you're on a flight, just pop a pill to sleep all the way or wear noise-cancelling headphones and listening to chill music while cruising... even during turbulences you'll be just fine.

You would feel more turbulence if you were riding a paper airplane. These planes or any other plane are designed to withstand this type of turbulence.

In Spain, Ryanair passengers never experience turbulunces. Spain has the second largest high speed train network in the world after China. Ryanair pilots are trained to land the aircraft on top of the trains to save fuel

Whatever. I experienced that level of turbulence sustained for over 3 hours on the way to Barcelona over the Atlantic about 10 years ago. Even the flight attendants were nervous.

Turbulence is natural. It comes and goes. But kudos to Ryanair pilots for always scaring the daylights out of the whole cabin when they touch down.

For those afraid, go on as many roller coasters as possible like a few days before your flight to get used to the falling sensation. Or just go on a swing for like 2 hours

The staff should really reassure the passengers at times like these. People pay good money to fly (not the most on Ryanair but still), and the least they could do would be to get a pilot or member of cabin crew to announce everything is under control.

On my flight from osaka to vancouver the plane hit severe turbulance around 1 hour in but no screaming passengers at least! I heard some dudes say, "Ooh!" In front of me. Most other turbulent flights the back of the plane becomes a church while the pilots experience a normal day lol 😂

Physiologically, no, it is a tribe-alerting instinct that nature motivates you to do by making your body and brain subjectively less agonised and objectively less damaged by the rush of cortisol and adrenaline when you scream than if you don't scream. Don't suppress physiologically soothing mechanisms like crying when upset or screaming when in sudden pain or terror, it is very bad for you medically.

I had my very first time on an airplane a couple months ago the time I’m typing this, we had moderate turbulence and was air speed bump which was weird. My anxiety went through the roof and started to shake and got terrified that I was gonna die. I wasn’t screaming because I know it would scare other people

The bottom line is when your on a plane you have no zero nada control, your in the mercy of weather , the skills of the Pilots and lets not forget the quality of the plane so with this in mind just relax breath slowly in and out and enjoy the ride .

although it may look scary the only thing thats dangerous about this sort of turbulance of the chance of you being thrown to the floor if you happend to be on foot, hence why they turn on the seatbelt signs if they are expecting it. the aircraft itself is never going to crash from this, its designed to handle it.
