Mewtwo vs Shadow because Donimations just ragequit from Vs animations. It really was the most disappointing Death Battle. Themewise made most sense for both, but they had unique powers. Considered a close fight (Mewtwo transforming first or mind powers) and would be at SGC 2016. It had everything going for it. Sub-Zero vs Glacius basically had an animator who was learning, but he went on to make the Guts vs Cloud DBX which was great.

The Biolizard was initially designed to resemble Perfect Chaos, presumably as Gerald saw him in the ancient murals in Lost World in the Mystic Ruins. Afterwards Shadow, the finished ultimate lifeform was given the form of Super Sonic as seen by a different mural in Hidden Palace in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Gerald most likely reinvented his concept of what an ultimate lifeform is entirely. This is how "he went from a giant lizard to a hedgehog."

So far his record is participated twice, and lost twice. Basically people are saying "Make him lose a 3rd time, and we pretty much know where you stand." Remember, the win/loss isn't based on facts. It's based on someone's opinion. So someone made Mewtwo beat Shadow not because he could, but because someone wanted the circumstances to allow Mewtwo to win. So yeah. It is a bit of a popularity contest, and it does kind of ruin the whole motif of Death Battle. Don't forget, they literally changed the Sonic vs Mario so that Sonic beat Mario, so so far the only Sonic character to have a legit win is Tails against Luigi. Feels like DB has a bias against Sonic in general.

Idk bruh, they havent exactly gotten into his scaling yet but I smell downplay coming. They wrote off the egg salamanders, egg wizard, Solaris, and time eater last time in Sonic vs Mario. That's heavy downplay. Plus, the "black hole" sonic was running from wasnt a regular black hole, but concentrated Wisp energy. A statement said it was even stronger than the chaos emeralds(which have limitless power). Also, in generations, sonic runs fast enough to restore time. And in his base takes multiple hits from a being stated to ERASE time and survived. Factoring all this in and giving it to shadow WOULD be a stomp but I doubt they doing that tbh.

Gerald went from the lizard design to the hedgehog design because he was inspired by the murals he found when he went to the mystic ruins while there he came across two murals of prophecy one that predicted sonic 3 (where sonic was fighting eggman) and the mural we see in sonic adventure (with perfect chaos) he went with the perfect chaos design first (biolizard) but it had health problems so he then went with the sonic design which is how he got to shadow
