Thanks for your answers regarding weapons from different war eras. I've been called gun nerd. I deserve it. I know a lot of weapons. My favorite weapons from the WW2 era is: Type 99 LMG, Beretta M1938, STG 44, BAR, Bren, Pps43, M1897 Trench Gun and Colt. 45. From the Vietnam War era, my favorite weapons would be the CAR-15 and any revolver. In present day, my biggest personal favorite weapon is the russian Saiga shotgun, 12K or 20K. In a future episode of Lethal Antiquities I'd like to see you guys try out the world's first Assault Rifle: The STG 44. And: Smith & Wesson Model 29. If you feel lucky.

The problem is basic training is weak now. You are supposed to develop the mental fortitude in Basic but they're really setting young men up for failure now The conventional force is different than SOF
@gavinmangum94382 жыл бұрын
There’s a good quote that says the secret to mental fortitude is physical preparation. Constantly push yourself to be better and then when you encounter those things they won’t be as much of a challenge and it can take the edge off of some of the physical tasks. Ofc there’s always gonna be things you have to deal with mentally but being physically prepared is a big part. If you’re not physically strong enough to do something, mental toughness isn’t gonna be much help
@theaikidoka2 жыл бұрын
You only get better by consistently trying to do things that you are not QUITE comfortable with. Every time you find something that you don't want to do (for example emptying your trash, or having a conversation that might be embarrassing, or eating a meal you never tried in case you didn't like it) DO IT ANYWAY. You WILL be unhappy sometimes, but you will find that you CAN get through. Do small, realistic challenges often, and pass them - you are making a pattern of setting yourself a goal and beating it even if it's scary. If you aren't a runner, don't try to run a marathon, you'll fail and feel like a loser. Run for 10 seconds and celebrate. Tomorrow try 15 seconds. If you are overweight just miss out on your favourite snack 1 time a week. Then 2 times and so on - a huge diet change is miserable and likely to fail. Keep building your willpower like that.

Big chunk of metal at about 12kg, we used to fire it in teams of 2 with the tripod, you had to swap barrels every 200 rounds so it wasn't the most practical thing but it felt great :) Most Regiments were already using the new and more practical FN Minimi 5.56, modern but looked like any other gun around.

That's pretty difficult to do, at least in the Army. If you're saluting someone, you're outside. If you're outside, other than during PT, you and anyone you meet should be wearing a patrol cap, which has the rank insignia on the front of it. It's also on the center of someone's chest. That being said, I was on gate guard duty once, and a 1 star general came through in his car, and his seat belt covered the rank on his chest. I didn't salute, and he busted my balls for it, but was pretty chill. Only people I've ever seen get pissed over it are 2nd LTs just outta OCS or ROTC

I loved my MPX but I would only rate any subgun higher than a rifle if the subgun is a real SMG and the rifle was a semi-auto or lower. I've owned.....let's just say a lot....of guns. My "favorite" I suppose would be my CZ Bren2. It's super short, has a side folder, and it's set up with a 3 position binary trigger. I call it my favorite because I've had dozens of other guns try to fill thia role from an MPX to a Kriss Vector with a DoubleTap trigger and side folding stock to a MK18 to a custom Maxim PDX in 300 blackout and DFA short 4" buffer stock system. The reason I pick the CZ is because it's far lighter than the 805, short stroke gas piston, NR side charging, fully ambidextrous rifle that I can carry EVERYWHERE with the stock folded in a backpack. I can easily carry another 180 rounds in mags in the pockets, fire single rounds, fire in binary with over 600RPM, and it has a one piece aluminum upper with the 2M quad rails. It is about 1lb heavier than my 11.5" rifle (with the "giggle switch") but it's easily the most accurate and reliable compact rifle I've ever owned or built. If I played with some other gun, I might have a different favorite. But I've fired hundreds of guns. The reason I carry the Bren2 is because I've fired all those other guns and this was easily my favorite, especially for it's role.

for the weapon against zombies... I'd go with an axe. The issue with the katana is that it becomes useless if it loses its edge; an axe however, even blunt, can do some serious damage from sheer blunt force. And as a bonus, an axe can be used to break doors or other obstacles to open up routes or opportunities for precious supplies. Gotta remember making it in an apocalypse means having to think in the long run, and that you will have to face way more problems than just zombies
