You my friend are incredibly talented. I never would’ve thought of poking pin holes on the underlying layer. Beautiful job. I’m a huge chipmunk fan as well and about to embark on a mint CG chipmunk I scored not long ago. I had one 30 yrs ago and regretted selling it ever since. Keep up the great vids

I’m starting a 1/6 clipped wing cub on floats and a 1/3 space walker this winter. Absolutely love retro Sig kits. Just finished a scratch build of a Goldberg Bucker Jungmann from the original kit plans. Best plane I ever flew 20 yrs ago so I decided I wanted another. I actually have a puncture tool. Keep building!

Lookin' good, Andy. his will be a good plane for playing "transmitter toss." On sport scale cabin models such as this, I like to put in a removable deck and back panel just below the window line. It really gives the model a more finished look, and it's easy to do.

Nice work. I build three of them 30 years ago, one was 90% done and has been sitting in my garage ever since, scale landing gear out of a/c steel silver soldered .... a real gem. Have a 1/3 landing gear also but probably never use it... like you said Corona project after a 30 year break working to finis my 1/4 scale now... retired with no time until Corona. Your video are very informative and will get me flying again... I guess I need new radio, I think I can still use my servomechanism?

Great work Andrew. What a beauty! I’m getting really close to covering my Sig 1/6 scale fuselage so I’m being forced to address the aspects of the build I’ve been avoiding due to lack of ideas. Your landing gear fairings that cover the wire gear look flawless. I’m curious if you have any pictures of those before you covered them so I can see how you did it? Thank you for sharing your build!
@n1114v3 жыл бұрын
They're not covered. They're epoxied onto the wire landing gear then covered with fiberglass cloth with two coats of resin and then painted to match the blue covering

Ok. Thanks for the quick response. I’ll give it a go!
@tomwassmer98283 жыл бұрын
Gave it a go...no bueno! A couple questions if you have time. I tried doing the top and bottom with one piece of glass. I couldn't get the glass to stay down where I wrapped it around the edges. I bailed on the whole operation to do some more research. I was using 2 oz cloth. The epoxy is from Raka epoxy (similar to West Systems) a boat project I'm planning. Would you recommend using two pieces of glass? My thought was I'd like to use one so it'll span the joint between the balsa and wire gear. I'm now thinking maybe I should glass one side, let it dry, and then wrap the excess and epoxy the bottom. Also what weight glass do you use for your stuff. Maybe lighter than 2 oz would work better for what I'm trying to do?
@n1114v3 жыл бұрын
@@tomwassmer9828 3/4 oz is what to use. Do the bottom and overlap to the top about 1/2 inch, then glass the top. Once dry add second layer of resin then prime and paint.
