Once I got the wrong order in a restaurant and I somehow ended up with a Schnitzel (yess I am German). I was to scared to say something and I am a vegetarian😂 so I ate the side dish and forced my friend to eat the schnitzel, because I was also too scared that the waitress would asks if there was something wrong with my meal and I would have too admit that it is the wrong order and I didn't say anything😂

I've been in the food service for awhile now, from a line cook to a shift manager, and I just want everyone to know, that nobody at the food service cares, that you ask for a new one, or have the wrong order and want it replaced. Nobody cares about fixing anything for the customers, period. The ONLY thing that annoys us is the attitude you have when requesting a fix/solution. Don't hesitate to ask for help, a replacement, or anything. It's our job. That's how we see it. Customers needing to be tended to is just, a part of the job. Just don't act self-righteous because "you're a customer". We're people too.

I agree with Ellen. It's really hard for me to be an inconvenience because I work around food and it's very discouraging for me because, I know exactly what it's like on the opposite end of that. Especially when it's really busy. That's just my personal thing though. Always best to stay cautious during a outbreak of a sickness :)

I had goosebumps watching this video. It's now September 2021. I still remember first hearing about Kobe Bryant's death like it happened a week ago, the memory is very fresh and it broke my heart. I'm not even from the LA area (I live in Oregon, near Washington) but still loved Kobe. And then, seeing you two talk about the covid when it was just beginning... wow, goosebumps. And here we are, 20 months later... this makes me so sad. It feels like a distant memory now.

Watching you guys talk about covid before it hit is surreal. I landed in Spain for a semester abroad the day this was posted, flew back on St. Patrick's Day to escape lockdown there, and left my quarantine on April Fool's Day. It's been a weird year haha.

Heads up about the collar you bought. The adjuster slides and clips on them are SUPER easy for dogs to snap in half. My dog busted two of them. It's a total safety hazard if your dog pulls suddenly and they break and you're on a busy road. I highly recommend Bison Designs or Lupine Pet. Their clips (quick clips like your collar, not the buckles) are heavy duty as hell, and guaranteed. (I also get collars handmade on Etsy from Fairy Tail Collars, and they use the same heavy duty quick-clips). :)

I completely understand where Ryan is coming from with the coffees. Thanks for vlogging during this time. I am really enjoying your videos and I am learning a lot from your signs. I sign too but it is British Sign Language. I'm learning a lot of new signs and different ways to sign from watching both of you. Sign Duo You’re right, it’s not about sex, I’m talking about gender norms (sex and gender are different). You’re also right about it being about upbringing, women and femmes are socialized to take up as little space as possible. Have you ever noticed how men typically sit with their legs wide open whereas women most often sit with their feet tucked under their chair? Obviously it’s not across the board, and I’m not saying that men can’t experience the same thing, but gender norms are definitely part of our society.

It is difficult sometimes to ask, especially in a situation like this, where the workers are busy and didn't really do much wrong as it was a customer touching the cups. Usually employees are totally fine, but I understand the anxiety; you never know how they're going to react, or if they're just being nice to your face but are actually annoyed with you. But I'm totally with Ryan, I feel like when it comes to something you paid for, especially something you're consuming, you deserve to get what you paid for. The Panera in the building I work ALWAYS gets orders wrong, and I never hesitate to ask for the right thing when that happens. I've worked in food service and retail for many years, and I would much rather have a customer tell me something's wrong than have a bad experience and not want to come back. Human error happens, and you can't expect it to be fixed if you don't speak up.
@redrosefell4 жыл бұрын
I love to watch you both sign. First, because you're probably the cutest couple ever, and secondly because you aren't rushed in what you say. I'm a mediocre sign student, but I'm learning a lot just watching your conversations. As a hearing person who has had little real life experience with deaf culture, I'll admit it's kind of intimidating when I think of interacting with someone who is fluent in ASL. However, I can say this with certainty -I believe the deaf world is much more accepting of newbies than the hearing world can be (at least in my experience so far). I work with people whose first language is not English, and man, what a prejudice there is against them. However, I'm embarrassed at times to communicate in my limited abilities with their respective native languages -because honestly, my coworkers really think it's hilarious when I stumble with grammar or mispronounce something.

I remember when I was a teen working as a server in a restaurant and I brought two drinks over to a table and the guy was really nice about it, but asked if I could replace the drinks because I was holding the glasses too close to the top. It wasn't over the top like you demonstrated in this video, but it was relatively close to the rim. And really, it was just something I had never thought about before, especially at that young age. But I have tried to be cognizant of that ever since, when handling a glass that isn't for me.

So I know this video is from a year ago, but I’ve been binge watching y’all’s videos and I wanted to suggest y’all take the enneagram test! It’s helped our relationship a ton and y’all already do so well knowing each other and this would probably take it to the next level. You’re supposed to answer the questions thinking about yourself around 20ish years old and think about what your impulse is, not what you’d actually do, because the enneagram is all about core motivation. It’s fascinating!

It was important to me to make sure customers receive their exact order the exact way they’d like it! But even though I’m willing to do that for ANYONE I *hate* asking food workers for the same treatment for myself. That said, with the coffees, if they had lids then I may have just asked for a new lid, but if it was open cups i definitely would have asked for new ones. Other people’s hand on your food/cup is nasty 🤢

As women, we are told to be quiet, small, and fit the status quo. This is most likely why you felt like an inconvenience. Men aren't taught that through childhood and adulthood. So very awesome to see another great video from you both. Seems like ages since last had a wonderful video. All unexpected deaths are tragic regardless of who it is. I hope that Kobe and his daughter Gianna are now at peace wherever they both may be. But in lots of ways what is making me sad is. Yes everyone is sad they have passed away and fair enough but we cannot forget the living who it is in lots of ways much harder on. Kobe has 3 other daughters if my information is correct and a loving wife. All of whom have not just lost a husband / partner / dad but also a daughter / sister My thoughts and prayers are with them as they go through this tough time. Those strawberries on the pancake looked so yummy Ellen!!!! I loved the look of "Oh Oh what can i not remember" on Ryan's face. I can understand that. I would not want someone else touching my cup of coffee either especially with this Novel Coronavirus getting around and so many unknowns about it. I hear you Ellen you prefer to just go with something even though it is not exactly what you were wanting rather than make a fuss. But it is also a confidence thing too believe in yourself and believe you ARE worth it always.. You have a right to expect to get what you have asked for, not potentially contaminated with others germs It is afterall a food place therefore food safety always.. :) Take care and be safe always both of you :)

I am that way as well with food items, feeling like an inconvenience. But I think of it like, what if someone put something on your dish that you asked them to remove before hand, and you’re allergic? You most likely won’t eat it because you feel bad? Haha that’s how I am with cheese, except I’ll still probably just try and scrape it off myself

It is just different, I mean, I am a person who never asked or complain, I will if it's urgent, but most of the time I didn't because it feels like it would get annoying to others. Because that's how I grow up, where u should be respectful and all, also to be that blunt is uncommon. And he did have a point, that's why I think I should adjust how I think about something and should do what is best for my own sake🙂. But it will takes time tho. Because in mine, it can be considered as rude 😭.
