Yeah, they have this unrealistic image of a guy who gets all the women he wants, that it is given and genetic, so they might as well give up and be pissed off at women for not wanting them and guys for getting them. All of that instead of looking at themselves and trying to improve. Ultimately who it damages the most is them, being so obsessed over relationship, 'cause that's what it is. A pure obsession subliming into envy which sublimes into the contempt and wrath towards those who don't deserve it

@lordofuzkulak83082 жыл бұрын
@AJN_RULES_50 - in their own minds they probably cast themselves in the role of the protagonist of a rom com; you know, the sort of character that’s in the friend zone at the start of the film while the main female character is in a relationship with a clearly abusive/assholish guy, but she doesn’t see it until the end of the film where she dumps him and hooks up with the protagonist after realising he was her true love all along? Ironically they themselves have more in common with the asshole boyfriend but are selectively blind to it. Also, they don’t seem to realise that those films are unrealistic in their portrayals of relationships anyway.
@liamdalemon15252 жыл бұрын
I think the hardest part of being in that position is that pretty much no matter what you do, you can't get what you want and you can only watch as the person you loved drifts further and further away from you for the new guy on the street, struggling with the fact that you might have been so close, but now you can't make any moves or else you seem like the bad guy. It's just depressing, but what do I know, I don't even have any experience in dating to begin with.

Story 1: A lack of a filter is not an excuse to act like a horrible person. It's a common fallback that makes no sense. Heck, I have no filter and yet I'm not a monster about it. I don't accept that as a reply for someone being a jerk, as its clearly targeted malice. Especially if you didn't learn your lesson and keep stepping over the same exact lines while using that excuse. Take responsibility for your actions and grow up instead of making excuses for being a horrible person.

For the last story, people from a gaming background just might not understand the concept of meta gaming. To them it's only natural that you be prepared. I used to be one and my whole group snapped at me when I sayed that the banshee should only have one death scream. Instead of assuming the worst and being passive aggressive the op could have pulled them to the side and explained what meta gaming meant in rpgs and why it was disliked.

For those unfamiliar NEET is "Not in Education, Employment, or Training", and is basically what the OP on the first story said. Unemployed and not currently being trained or educated. As for their arrangement, it seems similar to a sugerdaddy but less glamorous. I've heard of some similar arrangements being similar to the patronage system of the old days allowing creative types to produce without the pressures of working just to survive and leaving no time to create what may take time to be profitable, but the vast majority of the time (almost always) it ends up...well like this or worst. If it were to be done ethically, you'd need to have some money for the "adoptee" to leave at will...like say, a month or two worth of rent and expenses kept in a safe or account they won't touch unless they wish to leave, so the adopter can't hold the adoptee's livelihood (for lack of a better word) over their head should they wish to leave. But even that still feels borderline, and unfortunately you have far too many guys like this who'd still try to take advantage somehow.

Wow, that first story shows how the person in the wrong is very messed up to the point of not taking no for an answer. I mean, he adopts a random stranger from one of the most controversial message boards to live with him for that, and when she finds a girlfriend, he gets so angry, on a trip to Disney World, he goes as far as to send the OP to the hospital when he stops him from getting near her. I hope the perv is rotting in prison for what he did (even though it will just be for assaulting OP since the "adoption" and payment was done with consent).

For those who have never heard of it, being touch-starved *is* a very real thing, and it can very much effect the mood of someone for the worst. I am someone who is generally easily touch-starved but also dislike being touched out of nowhere(I happen to be on the spectrum, so I work out with my friends that we make sure that either of us are about to touch each other. We are also very very affectionate in very wholesome physical sense, usually hugs.) Having explained what touch starved is, I will now give my opinion on the rest of the story: I 100% believe that this Hal guy was weaponizing a very real thing to get what he wanted, making those who do experience it for real look bad. In fact, it feels as though everything he did was in the name of weaponizing and emotionally/mentally abusive *at the least* after all, behind closed doors, he may have also been s**ually abusive, and it definitely seems he would be that type of guy. For those who have managed to get through this entire comment, I am so so sorry for the length, and I 100% hope everyone is having a very lovely day/evening, staying safe, and staying hydrated!

I don’t know, something about OP Went about this did seem like the best way to handle the situation. Like after finding out about “he’s-my-friend” and penny doesn’t tell the others in there group and try’s to handle that on his own without no input from anyone else. Like is OP majored in psychology or to be a therapist? And if not I say he took too long to address the issue and his worries with the girl, knowing letting her stay with the creep like that. “Oh but their consenting “””adults””” it’s alright” still don’t feel right.

Why is it that people who claim to not have a filter get butthurt when you give THEM the unfiltered truth?!? Also, there is a big difference between self depreciation and talk of suicide! I self deprecate. I am extremely good at it, considering that I grew up during a time when busting contests (Snaps) were popular. If I pull the end battle from 8 Mile then what can you say to hurt my feelings?!? Also, if you can't laugh at yourself, then you have no business laughing at anyone else. The first time I ever played DnD ended up going south, see I have very bad social anxiety, that too the point if people ask me what I'm going to do and I have to voice it I clam up and am unable to talk luckily these were all my friends and understood my issues I ended up ruining the first session due to a trigger being popped when none of us knew all of them It was kids going missing, and it was so bad that I completely crashed and went non-verbal for hours and after all of this, during the night? I ended up splitting from myself due to this google document being written about me by three separate people and two other friends sent me DMs about one of the trio messaging them I may have ruined my first DnD session because of an unknown trigger, but I also ruined the reputations of very bad folk at the same time! And lost a very close friend in the process I don't like thinking about that day, for many reasons, but I am currently giving DnD another shot with the same friend who ran the first session I was in, and we know all of my triggers this time! Eclipse of the Moon is an aberrant mind sorcerer who follows Cashetl the stellarstream pack leader, a homebrew god for my Tabaxi! Close companion to Lynette, a wood elf ranger. So, for the first story, Hal is 100% the villain, but if we're gonna talk about taking advantage of people, does anyone else feel like OP intentionally took advantage of Hal's anger issues to force him into committing a crime? It's like taunting a mad wild animal until the animal bites you and then going 'oh why oh why did the animal bite me?' It's like a civilian form of entrapment which... is a moral grey to say the least. I think it's not that controversial to say that OP brought the physical assault upon themselves by goading it. As someone who has a family member with anger issues, the last thing I'd ever do is intentionally goad them into being angry.
@DnDDoge2 жыл бұрын
A slight insult doesn't excuse physical violence. That'd be like saying Chris Rock deserved to be slapped over a joke.
@chtholly80842 жыл бұрын
@@DnDDoge Will Smith doesn't have actual neurological anger issues though. If you can get angry enough to assault someone in a public place to the point the victim needs hospitalisation, you're either 1) a hardened criminal, 2) an angry dad who's child has just been messed with, or 3) someone with neurological anger issues, and clearly Hal isn't one of the first two. Having neurological anger issues isn't an excuse to do anything you want, but it is at the end of the day still a mental disorder and should be treated in the same way as goading someone on the spectrum or someone with clinical depression. It's really sad that people don't see neurological anger issues for what they are, a mental disorder.
@chtholly80842 жыл бұрын
Like, I'm not even remotely trying to say Hal was in the right, but it's not like they assaulted OP out of nowhere. OP goes into great detail about how they systematically goaded a mentally unstable person into snapping. How is it even remotely controversial to say that intentionally goading someone with mental issues into assaulting you isn't a morally good thing to do?
@Sigilstone172 жыл бұрын
I noticed this as well. OP's therapist was correct in OP seeing himself in Hal as they're both maliciously manipulative (also: OP having a therapist is a huge red flag that OP himself isn't a stable person)
