As an OG player, I'd very much recommend what you guys are doing. I haven't bought any content in maybe two years and it's made very little difference. Pick packs that interest you and not just because people say they are must haves, I never touch anything related to supernatural as I hate how they are in sims 4 and are super broken but love the eco themed stuff because they have a lot of flexibility

I think adding Zodiacs now is just too late. In previous entries the Zodiacs were core to building your sim from the start and we just have soooo many systems going on in game right now (if you have all the packs) the game is just in a state of diminishing returns. Like sure, I could make my sim suddely a ‘libra’ but what would that even mean on top of all the other highly specific personality systems (traits, likes/dislikes, lifestyles, turn ons/offs). There’s too much going on inside these little pixel robots, some of it conflicting. Like it doesn’t make them deeper it just all basically neutralizes after awhile. And they still end up feeling same-y in the end.

Sims 4 has traits, likes/dislikes (which has its own compatibility system), turns ons/offs (which has its own compatibility system), and lifestyles to name a few. And they are all already doing more working against each other than working with each other. Honestly I already have to go into CAS and purge likes/dislikes occasionally to not have an insufferable Sim that hates the decor, hates the music randomly playing at the bar, and hates their outfit.

for me as an old time simmer TS4 started fine with missing items but after 10 yrs of packs it doesn't feel like a life simulation it feels like a management simulation, and all the bugs or little quirks just don't do anything but piss me off within an hr and i walk away from the game for wks or even months.

i actually like how they’ve basically “game-ified” life simulation, the overall direction of the game was a pretty fresh take on the life sim genre as a whole, people interact with the sims 4 a lot differently than the previous sims games, like challenges people come up with within the framework of the game are such a big part of the sims 4, most people play a challenge at some point or another, and to myself and a lot of other people it’s the most fun way to play the sims 4. i’m really not sure why they didn’t lean more into it and market that aspect of the game more, scenarios got close but i think they missed the mark on what type of goals to work towards actually make the game fun, it’s just too open ended and increasingly lacking luster as they go further and further with the cash grab route… and it just doesn’t have the same life and focus on details as the old games

My wishlist for this pack is: Ghost occult in the CAS menu. And expanded ghost gameplay (Like how paranormal expanded vampires in ts3 even though they were already in the game) Grim reaper career that ISN'T A RABBIT HOLE. And actually has things to do. How cool would it be to go to a netherworld lot or something like that? Funerals. PLEASE. A new holiday, maybe? Something like a day of the dead where ghosts roam the streets. Since it's a life and death pack i'd like new gameplay related to...Well...Life... That's just my wishes for the death side of things. That I know the sims team will never fulfill because even funerals are too much for them.

@@heath6802 when sims get sick now (with GTW installed) they don’t got to the doctor or hospital they just swig the universal “medicine” and are cured. You only interact with Sick Sims if you play the doctor career where they spawn illness just to serve you having something to do at work. Which honestly is the best way to do it…because loading screens. Imagine your doctor sims goes hime and then gets notified to come in for an emergency patient and sitting through the loading screen to get there and get back. The most immersive illnesses in Sims 4 are actually in Jungle Adventure which has very specific treatments/medicines depending on what you get sick with/attacked by going through the temples. Also a local “clinic” system would actually make sense. Generally you don’t see your private practice doctor at the hospital, you see them at their clinic or doc office. The only reason I would be annoyed by this tho is loading screens. Like going to the hospital to have your baby in Sims 4 is such a non-event its not worth the two loading screens so being able to have an easy cure at home for moat things aids not having to leave lot. With Birth in particular the baby magically zips back home anyway, so might as well just stand in front of the basinet at home and avoid the loading screens.

It doesn't feel like new features for a lot of us, I feel, because modders have already done it completely free and then EA are just doing it again for money. They have no creativity anymore. Lovestruck = Wicked/Wonderful Whims already did a dating app & an attraction system before it came out. Life & Death = If it does contain more things like funerals, there's already the Mortem mod for that.

The sims 4 team have been slowly trying to make the game micro transactional. i hope we get expanded family trees as part of the BG update. in an ideal world where EPs are value for money, this is what i'd like in the pack: - extended day of the dead gameplay, eg. ofrendas where you can put in your own food/photos. dead sims in the photos will visit you that evening. skull painting activity for kids. cross-pack compatibility w/ seasons for marigold flower arrangements. (vegetarian ghosts won't be happy if you don't have any veggie options for them) - funerals, duh - introduce "godparents" so if a child sim's parents die, they're moved to live with them - different type of ghost npcs like ghouls, poltergeists etc that can cause chaos in your house/museums/libraries - a fun-fair type area/lot that's not full of rabbit holes like HSY but you can acc go on rides and go into fortune teller tents, which could work a bit like wishing wells in how it affects the sim's life - semi-active fortuneteller career with an accompanying skill that allows you to alter the lives of other sims, or have a chance of backfiring if you have a low skill (eg. you tell someone they'll have 1 kid but they end up with triplets; you say they'll grow old but they die on the way out--then they can even come back to haunt you) - retirement homes...? -collectable family heirlooms; elder-exclusive aspirations - graveyards + active nighttime grave digger career. kick out teens being silly, call the police on grave robbers or fight them yourself--success depends on fitness skill. maybe u start in a run-down graveyard but part of your job is restoring it--at the top of the career you have a mausoleum, clean shiny graves, etc. - here is where i get ambitious. ^ grave robber career branch: try to not get caught by other co-workers--if you are, option to say sorry and be demoted or recruit them for your grave robbing operation. higher charisma skill, higher chance of success. chance of failing--being fired and having a huge fine, x2 the value of what you stole. if you get into negative simoleons bc of this, you die by "betraying death." grim reaper says u can either stay a ghost forever with NO chance of returning (overrides book of life/spells/etc) and leave your household with $0, or spend a week as the GR to "learn the value/sanctity of death"--so the GR career is temporary and harder to access than just via the job screen on the phone. this way u also get back half of the fine, so you only pay for what u stole (if it's still negative, ur household just stays with 0) - other avenues to become grim for a week: fight him and win; teen sims can ask him for an "internship" which gives them extra credit and a career boost as adults when applying to death-related jobs; instead of "plead for sim's life" you can offer to work for him in exchange for a sim's life (will always work unless he already has an intern that day); elders with a fear of death can ask to be grim for a week to get rid of their fear - ^ purgatory aspiration - funeral home lots u can buy like retail/rentals/vet/restaurant. hire morticians, ceremony leaders, etc. purchasable upgrades inc more types of coffins, extra guest capacity. upgrade CL skills to provide more types of ceremonies. but... we will only get rabbit hole funerals, a chance to date grim again and a fortuneteller version of the romance consultant career. a girl can dream though

My issue is, everytime I put a new pack in my game, it seems to only add BS that's annoying to me. Like infants OMG they're so bad! And dating, weddings, going out to eat, etc... are all such a task. The packs seem to make the game less fun for me instead of more fun like sims 1-3. Everytime I buy a new pack, I hate it and wish I could take it out within just a few hours of play.

Not sure how popular of an opinion this is but I have believed for quite a while that EA should stop with Sims 4 packs. What I always thought they should do is that they should just focus on Sims 5/Project Renee and only focus on fixing bugs in The Sims 4. Sims 4 may be light on content in areas but I’d rather have the game actually working properly than EA adding stuff in overpriced DLC packs in a game which already has $1k+ worth of DLC over 10 years while the game still remains a buggy mess, regardless of their efforts to fix it. I just see the game as a bit of a lost cause where I’d rather see EA make the next game as great as possible than to try and put more stuff in this game.

If they include a world, they call it an expansion pack, they could have a completely empty world with nothing but water, that has a few underwater lots and maybe some float loungers and maybe a recolor of the Island Living boat and they would call it an expansion pack. For a Life and Death pack, I'm kind of concerned about what kind of world will come with it, will it just be a neighborhood with a cemetery? I bet we will finally get a cemetery lot, Ideally it would come with a way for your Sim to become a reaper, and do the Grim Reaper's job, which there actually is already a mod that does that, and a world of the Soul Society where all the reapers and ghosts live, but I doubt they will have reaper gameplay, even though you can use a cheat to make your sim into a reaper, and Sims can already ask Grim to join the Soul Society, to which Grim will respond that there are no openings, but it will probably be a normal world with a cemetery, maybe a funeral home also.

I think it's gonna be very similar to the warewolf pack but for ghosts. And there's gonna be some kind of grim witty per career that you can do instead of dying. And I think they're gonna add some type of medium into the game for the tarot cards but my issue with that is the ghosts are already there all the time so I'm not sure what the medium would do.

Does it really even matter? There’s literally NO CEILINGS in the game right now because of incompetence. It’s been like 2 months since that happened and the sims people haven’t made a comment about it. They literally don’t care. Remember the windows and mirrors issue? there is your answer on why the sims 4 is still selling a lot no matter how broken and shallow it is "The Sims 4 is rated T for Teen by the ESRB. However, some say that the game is suitable for ages 12" thing would change a lot if the rating was 18+ or even 16!!!

Larian just released a huge free patch for a game they "aren't even working on anymore". Meanwhile EA keeps going "time to print more money :))))" So glad I never bought into TS4, I understand the sunk cost fallacy some people find themselves in.

I held off on getting TS4 until toddlers were finally added which (iirc) was 2018 - so at that point the game also had Seasons, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Pets, etc. Expansions that I'd wager most of the community would consider essential. I continued to buy packs that interested me through the EA bundle discount, but I haven't bought a pack since before Island Living was announced (which is around Spring/Summer 2019 iirc). My friends and I did the math a few weeks ago, and it would cost me over *$900 USD* to complete my Sims 4 collection, not even including the money I've already spent. It's absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. I will never buy another Sims pack for any of the games (despite owning most of TS3) until EA stops being so blatantly greedy, which I've mentioned to EA numerous times in their player surveys. It's so frustrating to see a franchise that I love turn to shit, but I refuse to support it until reviews for new content is overwhelmingly positive, which they haven't been in decades.

also in regards to your 'cant be assed vs EA forgot its 10 yrs' question, I think neither. I think they don't want to draw attention to the fact that TS4 has been out for 10 years and they're continuing to nickel and dime us for half-assed piecemealed content. modern day expansion packs are worth like $20, tops. Generations was $40 and has been split into Life & Death, Growing Together, High School Years, Parenthood, My Wedding Stories, Toddler Stuff, and Kids Room Stuff which totals $180. You could also argue that other packs/kits fit the category, such as Pastel Pop (for teens), Little Campers, & First Fits, which raises it to at least $195

EA seems to be too busy trying to increase things to put in Sims 4's filing cabinet but haven't bothered increasing the size of the cabinet so that it can cope.

I only started playing the sims 4 last year and I couldn't play for long cause it was so frustrating, it took me a long time to find the specific thing to say or do, I just couldn't stand it

I recently deleted the sims from my computer, i had been playing since the sims 2 but i have never really "played" the sims 4, i just made houses and pretty sims but the gameplay is non existant. I realised this watching your videos and playing other games. I feel like the sims 4 die hard players are not playing other games only the sims so they might not realise how empty it is

I used to play Sims1, when I was s kid/teen (yes, I am this old) and then stopped and just restarted with the Sims4 when basegame became free. I haven't bought anything yet, but the Life and Death pack will be the first I might consider, depending on what it actually includes...

If they are going to keep doing big expense packs, they need to condensed down all the different stuff packs that have the similar theme example the crystal kit pack and the paranormal stuff pack and add to the expansion, I remember the sims3 pets have cats dogs and horses and unicorns, Sims3 expansion packs more full

What's funny to me about all of these game packs and expansions is they're literally just taking content that moddeers have gotten people so excited about & now are charging $$$ for it for the people who probably won't trust third party content in their games. Or just getting us excited that "omg they're actually listening, they're doing something good for us" that modders have been creating for years and years.
