In Bulgarian the word for squirrel is “ка̀терица” [katerica], whereas“белка” [belka] is an animal that looks like and is very closely related to ferrets (not sure what they’re called in English). Interesting! Also, we use both “сграда” [sgrada] and “здание” [zdanie] for building. To me, the second part of the Croatian word for football (“nogomet”) seems to have a connection to the Bulgarian verb “мятам” [mjatam] which means “to throw”. Thanks for the video!

In Slovakian we have no "zvučnik" (shame for us as Slavs), but only international "reproduktor", which Croatian has too.

Polish don't use international "reproduktor" and don't use "dźwięcznik" derived from "dźwięk" (as literal "zvučnik" derived from "zvuk" in other Slavic languages), because Polish use "głośnik" derived from "głos" (as literal "glasnik/hlasnik" derived from "glas/hlas" in other Slavic languages :)

@@Robertoslaw.Iksinski Yes, it's also opportunity to derive Slavic form of reproductor from "hlas" - "hlásnik", but at us this word names a guard, who was in the past walking through the village in the night and announcing every hour by blowing a trumpet.

Well, we may use the word ozvučenie for a speaker setup/sound system setup. It would be cool if we used zvučník or zvučiak for a speaker though.

Word "здание" may be problematic in Slavic conversations, because in Polish "zdanie" means "sentence" or "opinion" or "passing" the exam (as "zdanie egzaminu"). Sometimes in Polish word "zdanie" is used even as "delivery" of the building for use (as "zdanie/oddanie budynku do użytku :)

Hi! The Russian word zdanie may be literally translated as 'something which is built/constructed/created (, построено (postroeno)/создано (sozdano))". It is derived from the root' zod/zd/zid/zizhd'. For example for architecture there used to be the word 'zodchestvo' (the modern one is arkhitektura, зиждиться (zizhdit'sya) - to be based on, созидание (sozidanie) - the process of creation. There is no connection to another russian word sdat' (to pass, for example, an exam), which is related to Polish one, because in this case we have prefix s- and the root - da (to give).

In nowadays Slovak "zdanie" only illusion, impression, fiction, but in old Slovak (around the year 1700) only as "opinion".

@@user-nh6op5rq4y Old Pan-Slavic word "zod/zid/zed" (as "wall") in Polish was replaced by "mur", probably derived from French, but in Polish is still used one word associated with "zod/zid/zed" in the building sector. It's word "zdun" (as "tile-stove setter")

@@Robertoslaw.Iksinski I'm not sure whether the word zed/zid/zod in the meaning of 'wall' ever existed in Russian language. Have never heard of it. I looked through the Internet and found out that there used to be the verb зьдати (zedati) - to build, to create, which came from the word зьдъ ('clay') as the main material for building activity. I guess russian words came from that verb as well as the word for wall in other slavic languages. For a wall in Russian we say stena (стена).
