i hate the implication that if the girls turn him down after hearing his true identity then they’re superficial and only care about money/status like no... maybe they just dont want to date someone whose been emotionally manipulating them the whole time 🤷🏾‍♀️ the entire foundation of your relationship is built on a lie

@@saffrontaylor3070not a fan of the way u described these women for multiple reasons ... but obviously theres a level of drama to these shows thats elevated but that isnt my point. the shows entire premise feels like its based on the fact that this hypothetical girl who gets to the final round is only making the “right” choice by agreeing to continue dating him (like by how they’re “rewarded” with money as a surprise if she does this for example) even tho she would still be 100% in the right if she wasnt comfortable dating him anymore

@@demiclown yeah, I learned this the hard way when my mother took me to a “therapist” who did nothing to help me. I think that if you pretend to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist that’s illegal, but unfortunately anyone can call themselves a therapist. I think what gets ppl confused is that people refer to going to psychologists as “going to therapy” so they assume all therapists must be medically trained or something
@tigs6639
@tigs6639 3 жыл бұрын
Hi guys, I don't know if you are from the UK or not, but you definitely can't call yourself a therapist if you aren't qualified here. After training + qualifications you have to apply to the HCPC (Health Care Practioners Council, or something like that), only then are you licensed to call yourself a a therapist. Example: I worked with someone who did music sessions for people in care. He was a musician, doing 'music therapy' but he was NOT qualified as a therapist, so it would be misleading/illegal to call his services Music Therapy (but he could call it 'theraputic music sessions' as long as he made it clear he was not a qualified therapist). I want to train as an Art Therapist so I've researched this a lot. At least in the UK, you are NOT allowed to call yourself a therapist unless you are qualified and a member of HCPC. Hope that's helpful 🕊💕
@tigs6639
@tigs6639 3 жыл бұрын
1 second ago @Gabrielle Fu, hello, I just left a comment, I don't know if you read it? I just thought I'd add, specifically to what you mentioned - therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists all do DIFFERENT specific jobs, so unless you were specifically reviewed for needing a psychiatric evaluation, for example, most people wouldn't go straight to this level. It really depends on the specific situation, but for most people going through normal human difficulties, a therapist is the right starting point. If you need further evaluations from a health point of view, then you would be referred to an expert in that area. There's a difference between trying to diagnose an underlying mental health disorder, compared to someone who has experienced trauma, and wants therapy to help manage their lives better. Like I said in my first comment, at least in the UK, it's definitely illegal to call yourself a therapist if you aren't trained, qualified and a member of HCPC. It could be that you did not connect with your therapist, in which case try another one if possible. Sometimes it takes more than one attempt, as it's not easy to open up your most difficult emotions to someone you don't connect with. But don't give up, and don't let a bad experience put you off therapy completely. I hope the information I've given is helpful in some way, hope you have a good day wherever you are in the world 😌

And you can also do that without insulting because it's not like i said something insulting i (according to other comments) just said something you can't agree with it and that's fine and you don't have to. Im an american and i don't know how many people are in the royal family or what they even do besides live in fancy buildings with fancy lawns. I think. The only one I'm remotely familar with is princess Di because i heard so much about her growing up even tho she died before i was born, and only a few months ago did i realize what she looked like. Only found out just now from Google that Harry's her son, and from this video that he's the queens grandson. Its obvious in retrospect but thats how little i think about them. You could show me any plain faced, clean cut, middle-aged white guy, tell me hes Harry, and Id believe you. The idea of queens and princes here in american seems so incredibly archaic and irrelevant to modern life that whenever I see or hear something about royals my eyes automatically start to glaze over. I'm not into celebrity culture in general tho so I'm sure lots of Americans wouldn't be tricked. But also a lot probably don't know that Britain even still has a monarchy. Poor education + focus on only America = a very ignorant population indeed. Plus as Jordan said, the idea of a prince going on a dating reality show isn't even questionable here. It even kinda makes sense since I'd think with every year they become less and less relevant to the new generations

So my friend knew the casting directors for this and he recommended me and I was interviewed for this show. We knew it was a Seacrest production and a dating show but they also said they were interested in “former pageant girls”. During a few interviews they asked a lot about how much I wanted to get married (how desperate) & about former relationships. The last screen test was a lot about luxury brands and how rich I expected my partner to be. I didn’t get cast (obviously) and my friend found out later that it was this show and that myself and other interviewers didn’t get cast because they could tell who would instantly spot that it wasn’t the real Harry or go along with the Dream Date implications. I was so excited to see you do this video. Love your stuff!

the whole drinking on reality tv reminded me here in Spain there was a sexual assault on big brother after a contestant was drunk and the whole thing was recorded and no producers intervened. The woman’s name is Carlota Prado if you want to read about it. It was horrendous.

I was watching an interview with Shandi (the woman in America's Next Top Model cycle 2 who "cheated on" her boyfriend) and according to her, that night the producers encouraged them to invite the boys over, gave them alcohol for the first time during filming, and all of a sudden, the hot tub that had been broken since they arrived at the house was working. In other words, the producers basically set the girls up, hoping they could get someone "doing something naughty" (in my opinion, being sexually assaulted while drunk) on camera. Reality TV always seems to be awful to their talent.

🤦🏼‍♀️ NO. Even though the exact specificities vary between some states, and there exists a range of severity/degrees, the crime of "assault" requires an element of violence/physical harm being done to the victim, or, in some states, the imminent threat there of. Regretting your actions because you believed a liar is not an assalt. Upsetting, sure. But not a crime.
@beanboy5963
@beanboy5963 3 жыл бұрын
@@Reesicup By assault, the op means sexual assault. And having an encounter, even just kissing, with someone when lying about who you are is assault, because the victim did not consent to having that encounter with you. If you had sex with someone in a mask who said they were your partner (think Revenge of the Nerds), they would be assaulting you because you consented to sex with your partner, not that person. Sexual assault is still a crime. In most if not all US states, and many other countries, the situations described would be criminal, and considered sexual assault.

The bit about alcohol consumption was interesting to me because here in The Netherlands we had a big scandal as well around a reality TV-show and a sexual assault.. Only in this case the woman was blackout drunk in her bed, the producers asked one of the guys to go up to her and he assaulted her while she was blacked out. The bizarre thing is that this was captured on nightvision camera's and they AIRED IT. So a huge amount of people saw this assault happening and people shared clips of it with others over Whatsapp to talk about this scandal, there was instant outrage of course. The producers had to formally apologize, the guy who assaulted her came out with some really shitty excuses as well and the poor woman was just really upset that they aired her sexual assault on TV. This happened in 2019 on the TV show 'the villa', backlash continued after the shitty apologies and another TV producer from a different channel decided to confront the producers about the incident. That led to people calling for the show to be cancelled (which they did) and eventually the TV channel that aired these reality TV shows made a promise that they would stop producing this type of 'guilty pleasure' reality show altogether. Other TV channels are still producing these types of shows though and unfortunately it seems the incident is largely forgotten about at this point, though I wouldn't be surprised if TV producers now restrain from feeding contestants so much alcohol in order for drama like this to happen.

@@saffrontaylor3070 i mean, i can understand her accent fine, personally. but if i'm not paying full attention or reading lips *in general* often i'll find myself not processing the words properly. that's for me personally but i've found that a lot of people relate & use captions for that reason too. no need to make fun of her dialect.

@ßussin ßussin on gawd! No, you’re stating your opinion, on someone you don’t know’s accent (which is something most people can’t help). Don’t be coming on this young lady’s channel and then try and insult the way in which she speaks 🙄

I would love to hear your commentary on 2004 reality show "There's something about Miriam," a dating show where contestants were dating a transgender model called Miriam Rivera without knowing she was trans. I think it tells so much about transfobia and making entertainment out of it.
@pacjentPS
@pacjentPS 3 жыл бұрын
Or maybe do not open this particular can of worms? There's enough transfobia and transfobic content still around us today, affecting trans people in everyday lives... and it's absolutely certain that this kind of commentary will pull in all of this into this comment section and will make many people feel unsafe and disphoric. Also, I learned just now that Miriam died of suicide in 2019 - that would make commentary such as this that much harder and comment section even more vile.

If anyone sitting with me said "I'm bored" though i do think that's very rude. However in this situation the other girls just bullied her too...and saying she had an "attitude problem" just does feel like racism

But the only people they had to talk to were each other and she wasn’t there to make friends. I bet it would get really boring having only a couple people to talk to and you don’t even really like them or have much in common. They also could have been waiting a long time for the dude to show up or whatever they were doing. But only the people who were there really know how it unfolded. I do agree it definitely seemed like they didn’t like her from the start and they could have been a little racist towards her.

I came across this dark reality tv gem on KZbin and I clicked as soon as I read the title. Back then I loved the concept bc it sounded fresh and funny to watch, but now I feel so bad for all the contestants. I just found out this year that they only aired the first episodes to later go straight to KZbin. I highly recommend The beauty and the geek, it's funny and wholesome and no one got gaslit (that I know of)

My mother and sisters were so obsessed with this show but I was immediately like “This is kinda fucked up how the show runners are manipulating them into thinking he’s Harry” but they didn’t seem to care or consider that in the first place. Glad it got cancelled after four episodes

When you were mentioning the racism in the show, the way they treated Chelsea made me realize how racist my highschool art project group was. I was the only black girl in the group and we were randomly paired up and had to create a bald eagle from paper mache n stuff. Every time I brought up any idea, it would instantly get voted off and dismissed by the group. They didn't even have any good reasons to write them off either, they just kept saying "it would be too much work" (which doesn't even make sense). It made me so peed off that I eventually lashed out at them which led to the whole class ostracizing me until the end of the semester. They basically did the same shit those other girls did to Chelsea.
