Fun fact Aileen. Dolores O'Riordan wrote the lyrics to Linger while auditioning for the band as lead singer. Band members asked her to see what she could do with an instrumental track they were working on. She took it home, penned the lyrics to Linger, based on a real life experience of her first kiss and being rejected by her first love at 17, and came back a week later to sing along with the band, adding her lyrics and voice to the chord progression. They were awestruck at her talent.

I totally agree with your analysis of this beautiful but sad song, Aileen. 'The Cranberries' have so many great songs, ones which I recommend are: "Pretty", "Dreams", "I Still Do", "I Will Always", "Ode To My Family", "I Can't Be with You", "Ridiculous Thoughts", "Daffodil Lament", "Put Me Down". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.

I hear this song and instantly I am transported back to my 20's Dolores had the most unique voice and using the Irish 'keening' sound in her singing was just something that captivated me. The band put out some absolutely memorable songs during their time that will always remain on my playlists somewhere. Glad you enjoyed this one so much Aileen.

Hi Aileen 😊 Absolutely outstanding reaction and analysis to The Cranberries Linger. All the instrumentalism and vocals aside the telling of your story will definitely resonate with so many women who are caught in that cycle. The man in the hat is their "John". The men in the hallway are waiting their turn and grab a key to the room. All too many women fall into this trap when they come to the city looking for an opportunity of success and then find themselves needing to make a living any way they can to just survive and unfortunately there are predators waiting for them. Again, absolutely great analysis by the best reactor. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️👑👑

Can never go wrong with the Cranberries and I will always tune in when I see they are featured. Dolores O’Riordan meant alot to me growing up, her voice and music were amazing and I was totally devastated when she died. One of her lesser known songs but more lighter and fun is the Cranberries - Just my imagination if you ever wanted one to check out. ☹ It's sad to think about because she definately had more to give, her voice, beauty and soul were a gift to us all. Thanks for what you did give us though girl so much love for you, rest in peace. 😭💜🎸

Dolores' voice was out of this world and beautifully ethereal. Yes she did all the angelic backing vocals too. If you love the ethereal I would highly recommend Liz Fraser guesting on the atmospheric "Teardrop" by Massive Attack which is a gentle impulsion rather than a massive attack into your soul. The video is oddly compelling too!

For most of us, THIS SONG was our first introduction to Dolores and The Cranberries. They appeared on the music scene like a whirlwind, sweeping us off our feet. That voice. THAT VOICE. Truly beautiful and haunting at the same time. To say I became obsessed with The Cranberries is an understatement. A band and a voice that evoked truth and heartbreak. Love, love, love them to this day.

The fact that she lets her natural Limerick accent come through in her vocals has a huge beneficial effect on her delivery and gives her vocals a wonderful lilt and accent that does not happen very often

I absolutely adored The Cranberries. Such a unique sound and powerful stories. A Senpai keep up the great work on these vids. Sometimes you really take me back to memories I thought I had forgotten, but they are still there. When this song came out it spoke to me because of a bad relationship I was in, and stupidly tolerating. I found some strength in this song it helped me break it off clean and I refound my happy place in my life.

Delores' tone and inflections were amazing but the thing i especially love is that you knew she was Irish. Her accent was so prevalent in her singing. So many UK singers grew up hearing USA music so they sing like USA singers. Not Delores. She sings like she grew up singing Irish folk songs. When i sing along, i pronounce my "th's" like "t's"!

This one is their first hit; that I can remember...and w/♥. There's a video of this one being performed in 1991 - Live 'at the Waterfront' for BBC Network...two yrs before their debut album arrived in 1993. Dolores looked so nervous...but she did very well. Anyhow...all Dolores fans should watch it. Also, I believed someone else did the backup vocals. So I searched and found this; "Johanna Cranitch sang backup vocals on "Linger" by the Cranberries."
