Fairy Tail, with all it's many, MANY faults, is an anime i still love and hold dear. Since it was one of the first anime I watched and tho i didnt mind the power of friendship powerups and stuff, yeah in the last fight. The power of friend was becoming a bit too much there

As a long term FT fan I think Fairy Tail got a lot wrong but the main issue that stems from the manga and therefore into the anime is that both wanted it to be over. Mashima rushed the ending and tried to conclude the series several times which is why the anime has the same stop and start feel to it

OK here's the definitive list of things wrong with fairy tail: 1. All Spriggan fights except Ajeel and Wall (they actually had good conclusions) 2. Natsu being frozen in time by age seal once, where dimaria had a chance to slit his throat or cut his heart in half, but chose not to, only to have it no longer work on natsu because END. Like why didn't END jump in for self preservation huh? 3. Aconologia's arc being compressed into 3 episodes because fuck you Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

😂😂dimaria didn't learn her lesson when wendy beat her ass and she also was surprised when brandish was alive like how do u fail to kill someone when u stop time and to this day I still think they shouldn't have won against the spriggan 12 especially erza vs Irene when wendy enchanted erza sword when Irene literally has the same power and she watched erza drop from the sky when she could just slapped her or move out of the way

Couldn’t agree more after watching this. Fairy Tail had all the right makings to be a great show, but it just kinda fumbled. Here are some of my peeves alongside the ones you already talked about: *Too much fan service. Just . . . way too much *It felt like it never went anywhere in regards to the characters. None of them developed that much, save for a few *Lucy is the protagonist, yet it felt like she was always losing or getting kidnapped or being used to make the others stronger. *And then what you already pointed out, pacing, animation, useless episodes/arks, power of friendship, etc, etc Definitely disappoints me, could’ve been a favorite of mine had it not dropped the ball so many times.

Honestly I think the first fairy tail anime despite its flaws was good, I like the looks of it thought the colors were used proper, certain jokes work really well, and then fights having some really epic moments that just look awesome, my personal favorite being nasty vs zero at the end where he breaks out of genesis zero it honestly gave me chills. Fairy tail 2014 doesn’t have the same thing, I hated the loss of color, I get why but it still doesn’t help with the anime, a lot of the animation looked really stiff compared to the first and other problems with that later, the character models for the females honestly all looked the same to me like they just used one female base and worked with that via copy paste, you can make the argument that it’s cause of mashimas style but I didn’t really notice the issue until Wendy was standing next to mirajane in a shot and is somehow almost the same height as her or looks taller than she should be. And then there’s the fight scenes they were honestly flat out boring, the first anime when watching a good chunk of those fights it was done well nothing top tier in anime overall but there was still something to feel a sense of impact to the fights, I can’t say the same when I tried to watch the grand magic games arc with the final fights the conflict between the dragons and even the later fights with the demons, it was just really dull and didn’t have anything to it to get me pumped for a fight in fairy tail, oh yeah and the comedy, there was some really funny stuff in the manga and it flopped in the anime, the big one being when nastu claims himself as king when the actual king was gonna make his debut, in the manga it was a quick funny shot that actually was drawn really well like natsu looking down on others smugly while he claims himself as king, in the anime…..it’s just a medium that goes on longer than it should be and the static movement returns with natsu, it’s painful and disappointing to watch.

I'll explain why irene is a dragon, as explained by grandyne in the end of tartarus arc (your fav arc) all dragon slayer have dragon seed in their bodies that makes them dragons irene is the first ever dragon slayer, and explanation why natsu, gajeel, wendy, rogue and sting doesn't turno a dragon because their dragons prevented it from growing

Fairy tail was awesome along the lines of "oh my freaking god, Natsu is a lighting flame dragon slayer and thats so cool" and it sucked in rhe sense "powert of friendship overcomes everything" and i believe that its more like game of thrones. I will usually read a Manga if the anime doesn’t complete it. So I started to do that with Fairy Tail. I never picked up the Anime again after the switch. And boy oh boy did that Manga go places. Not logical places. But it went. I never bothered to finish it. I think I got to fighting in cube ships or something. Some sort of Island fight that didn’t go well? It doesn’t matter. Which is the problem. This is also quintessential nakama power crap. I mean brotherly love is great. And there is no greater love than to lay done one’s life for another. However, that is not going to take the bullet out of your head once it’s in there. The manifestation of the power of that kind of thing is nonsense here.

For me, there is no character development in FT. Every single character is somewhat similar or just Natsu in other forms. They don't show each character weak point and how they overcame it, rather they just slapped 'for my nakama' and they got power-up. The author also destroyed the only arc for FT guild training by transporting them to Zodiac world to have a party? Even the cool and hardcore Laxus who in the beginning try to destroy and rebuild their guild also became 'Natsu'. What a major dissappoinment. I really like how the story starts, really adore it. I even put it on par with Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Boku no Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Fullmetal and etc. But not now.

I think fairy tail is actually good and the story and characters are good. Fairy tail is not a masterpiece or better than naruto and one piece but i concider it better than dragon ball z and demon slayer in many ways like characters and story. It also has good life lessons. If that is not the definition of power of friendship monolog or power of friendship in general, I don't know what it is. Luffy does it everyone applauds, Natsu does it FairyTail trash. I don't mind criticism but it is these kinds of double standards that get on my nerves. Specially the fake out deaths one. People act as if One Piece didn't have fake out deaths all the time. Like how the fuck are Kiku and Kinemon still alive? One Piece has fan service to the brim, they shove us Nami's boobs in our faces all the time not to mention the revealing outfits the femals wear nearly all the time, Nico Robin fought black Maria with a form that looked as if she was naked ohh but because it is One Piece its okay. Don't even get me started on Dragon Ball were deaths are a complete and utter joke but yet it gets praised. FairyTail is the prime example of mob behavior and socially acceptance. Since it is socially accepted to trash on FairyTail then everybody points out its flaws. And since the others are socially accepted even though they also have these tropes they let it slide. And this is coming from someone who's favorite anime and manga is indeed One Piece. But unlike other people I am consistent when it comes to these kinds of criticisms.
