Game development is a hard work even if its an empty world. And the state of their other titles as well. Their main issue rather was producing fake trailers, lying about revolutionizing gaming and selling it for 40€. (And honestly pretty much everyone knew that it was gonna fail and that they're lying based on the other games they had, there was no way that they're gonna pull that off - that it ended up being an extraction shooter was probably the only surprise to most)
@Unknown_Genius Жыл бұрын
@kaof-1958 Depends on how you look at it, if you look at their previous games then they definitely almost overworked themselves here. Also no one said there aren't any harder jobs or that it's a crucial task. It's generally hard work however - and even the buggiest AAA games got multiple lifetimes put into one project if you count together the working hours of everyone working on it from start to finish - should tell you a lot about why code is getting reused, you're not throwing away stuff you already did or someone else sold/gave you. If we threw it away and re-invented the wheel every time we'd not have made any progress in the past 40 years for anything software related, which also includes making workflows easier and faster in pretty much every field.

I got an idea. Its called the gamers blacklist. We go back throughout recent history and find clear-cut hard evidence of someone lying about their game. We name them and shame them, permenantly. Make sure the entire industry knows who they are. No calls to fire them, no harassment campaigns, no retribution. Immortalization. We cant sue these big companies, we cant do anything to them. But we can certainly shame them publically BY NAME. No more hiding behind company twitter accounts or behind faceless nameless "publishers".

I noticed red flags when they mentioned the "New Zealand venture called MytonaFntastic" because I'm from NZ and never heard about them but remember seeing job listings for a shitty game company a while ago that the name reminded me of. Upon more research it seems that the company was actually founded in Russia but apparently their headquarters are in Auckland NZ. Their website also contains absolutely no information except their privacy policy etc. So I'm almost certain that the company is actually a tax haven which is a thing lots of foreign investors do after our old right wing PM John Key changed laws to let his Chinese associates turn NZ into a tax haven. So that makes them even more fishy.

Typical scammers, blaming everyone else for the mess they made. One thing I really hope doesn't happen more in the future is this becoming a trend, where game devs drum up a ton of hype for a game with cool trailers, which is so easy to do with ue5, and then drop absolute trash and run away with people's money and their hopes for a fun experience.

WIth "bloggers making money shitting on the game" there's even simpler, literally one sentence long explanation than what Muta gave here: the bloggers wouldn't be able to shit on the game if there was nothing to shit on. In other words, even IF you take at face value the explanation "game failed because there was shitstorm of negative coverage" - it still doesn't shift the blame to bloggers, because they were covering the actual facts. And since those negative things were factual, the argument disproves itself: players didn't like all the negative aspects about the game, which were covered by bloggers - but those aspects would've existed regardless of blogger coverage (or lack thereof).
