Another great maker is monstrous encounters. They do brilliant fantasy minis for a variety of games.

I've picked up a few of the Monstrous Encounters packs and really like the design style they've got going. I've not been brave enough to get in and support them for printing yet! Mostly 'cause I'm too lazy...

I called that the two youtube chefs would be Max and Babish, I watch for the same reason you do, a fun and interesting video that I will probably never attempt. I'm glad to see you following in that same vein and releasing videos that you want to, not everything needs to be educational, and a lot of times you just watch these videos as a medium to listen to the presenters, and a lot of times I watch your videos for that exact reason. Do what you want, with passion, and you'll receive positive attention, as a positive passionate presenter can make all the difference. Keep up the good stuff, and I will continue to enjoy your content!

Really glad to hear it, thank you. :) Also excellent to know that you're already watching the other two guys! I doubt most would expect cooking channel recommendations from a dude that paints but it's really interesting you're not the only person to have said you're familiar with Babish and Max. Maybe there's something to that conversational style.

Nice to see that you enjoy painting "obscure" minis that might not go with anything. My son got me interested in painting Stormcast Liberators. They're just so freaking small! I found some minis from Russia on Amazon that are quite a bit larger than Warhammer models. I have fun painting them, stripping them and painting them again. They're relatively cheap and good to practice on. After some time with them I muster up a little confidence and go back to my Stormcast and Space Marines. Thank you for your videos. They're fun to listen to and your painting tips work for me (especially dry-brushing).
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
It's neat to have a handful of miniatures you can paint over and over - as long as they strip clean, why not go nuts? It's easiest to practice on a familiar figure, after all! The Stormcast are some of my favourite miniatures since they're relatively light on detail compared to some of the other overloaded GW designs, but there's enough there to really enjoy painting if you want to bump up the look a little. Great choice!

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Excuse me, not trying to sound overly demanding but could you please please pretty please maybe do a painting tutorial with one of the new Gaunts Ghosts models?? Please New Zealander Sonic dude, pretty please????
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
@@BasedGhoul Unfortunately, I'm not going to pick up the Ghosts. It's 55 euros for a box of figures where I'd only be painting one, and truth be told I'd really rather GW had put that effort into a new Imperial Guard range. If they'd launched the Ghosts with a new plastic Tanith range, it might have been a different story!

The Makers Cult have some of the best minis around for Sci Fi games 🙂 I also love how most things also have or are totally modular as well, easy to mix and match them (since they release other sets to expand upon them as well) as well as other STLs out there that are similar in scale but are also more chaos like so it makes it great to mix and match to get unique looking guys for any type of force 😁

Planning to use the Faudal Guar models for me Horus Heresy Imperialis Militia army, just need do some 3d converting and physical converting as I want me cavarly to ride on terror birds, which I might have found perfect models, but they have lizardmen riders on them and need to put Feudal Guard riders on them... Also some of the cavarly will have shotguns and chain axes instead lances, so more work...

I print at 0.04mm with 2.2s exposure time using Elegoo Water Washable Grey Resin. The little room I've got my printer in stays a fairly steady temperature, so I haven't had to tweak yet to account for cold. My support settings aren't much different to the defaults - I just tweak the diameter of the top of supports to get smaller contact points in hard to reach areas.

Yup, I don't own a single Games Workshop mini, but I watch lots of painting videos that feature them. I watch it for the people as much as the painting. I find Sonic's videos informative, entertaining and instructive, but I'm not planning to paint a Space Marine or fantasy golden Space Marine. In fact, I'm not sure I've painted anything Sonic has painted other than a Dalek. Still a channel to watch and enjoy.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
This is part of the reason I try to cast a pretty wide net when it comes to miniatures. Sure, GW's stuff is pretty ubiquitous and recognizable, but there's so massive a range of miniatures out there that it's a shame to restrict oneself to just their lines. Trying to gently nudge Space Marine fans out of their comfort zone is a secondary objective, but I'm working on it! ;D

There's some really great STLs out there for home printing these days. I think the speed at which the technology moves surprises a lot of folks to hear that a miniature has been printed; these are pretty close to the equal of Forge World resins in some cases!

I really really want to buy some of the makercults minis files when they print do they print at a good scale for 40k proxies? I'm new to printing and it seems every free stl that say "heroic" or 28mm print way to small and ive been having a really hard time scaling and want files that can be printed at the right scale right off the bat.

These are designed to print straight out of the machine at proper 'heroic' scale, or 40k-appropriate. No fussing around, no rescaling needed.

I might need to tweak the colour settings in these videos before upload, then. The paint on the palette looked way brighter than it did actually going on the miniature, so maybe it's still a question of lighting. Hmm!
