@@anonymousanonymous-qx7mv I think there can be a middle ground between being perfect and being anti racist/ally. No ones asking people to be perfect, they’re just asking people to treat people like humans aka equally. Additionally, when you decide to go on a tv show, post pictures or posts on social media where public can have access to them, you open yourself up to some amount of criticism. Reality stars make money out of making their lives public, the public that makes them and pays for their lifestyles also gets the right to critique said lifestyle specially for something so relevant like racism in today’s time

I am so tired of this entire discussion. We are a society feeding on the breadcrumbs of trivia, "reality TV" and matters of complete inconsequence. In the meantime - Thousands of people are dying from a global pandemic every single day. People of color and lower socioeconomic class are being discriminated against by societal and systemic racist structures. And here we are wasting heartbeats on an reality show and an interview about a reality show, and some stupid decision made in 2018, and many Bachelor-derivative podcasts and podcasts about podcasts. Yes - words matter. Yes - symbols of slavery - such as the Antebellum parties and Confederate flags are offensive. But I challenge people - for every minute you waste on this in social media do the following: 1. Donate money and time to any charity or organization that helps discriminated members of your community 2. Donate time, money, and mentorship to schools and educational/economic /political organizations that are directly involved in REAL change, REAL lasting reforms 3. Write down the names of 5 people in your immediate circle who are being discriminated against because of race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status - REACH OUT to them and HELP them - with time, money, and advocacy. THAT is lasting change.

Unfortunate but true, KA is still a very popular fraternity especially in the south. Most likely, she was invited to attend the event and liked a boy in KA. She probably didn’t even process it realizing her actions were hurtful. The guys dress up on confederate uniforms and the girls wear antebellum dresses. KA was founded by Robert E Lee so I can see why this is upsetting to people who aren’t familiar with Greek Life. Rachael probably went to UGA where this is still part of the culture sadly. Chris should not be fired and Rachel Kc is obviously not that racist if Matt was her love-Interest. I Am Black and am never offended by our dark past or a confederate flag or statues. Why people are accusing Rachael , is it because Matt is in love with her ? They don’t want Rachael to be in Matts life . Who ever release any accusation against Rachel, maybe they just want to go viral and make money . We love Rachael and Matt , I hope they end up together . They both deserve each other . So Bitter people , please stop making gossip. Let watch the batchelor show to finish and please let Matt and Rachel decide what’s best for them . I don’t think Rachel is a racist. We love her . So bitters people back off , let’s all watch this bachelor till Matt propose to the girl he love ❤️.

Rachel Lindsay said on her Podcast that was not true. The Show doesn’t have any control over your social media. Rachel K cld have apologized on her social media platform if she wanted to. Clearly she finally didn’t apologize. I think that Diversity Consultant wrote it for her cause she hit ALL the points in that apology. The Show hired a Diversity Consultant for the staff. Either Chris missed the class, fell asleep in the class, flunked the class or just DOESN’T care. I think it was the latter.
@DaveNealComedian3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if this was the case. The show can pressure Rachael in many different ways to not speak out, including blackballing her from future appearances which is a way to cut into her potential earnings
@jeffrifkin36033 жыл бұрын
Our society is thankfully changing due to groups such as BLM exposing institutional racism. I am not making light of the fact that Rachael participated in optics which appeared to be racist. However, that was a few years ago and peoples' consciousness can be altered. I think we all need to show others grace and if she apologized, then her apology should be accepted. The nBachelor enterprise and brand has been getting old for me; the producers, like producers everywhere are all about ratings and if there is controversy, then more money can be generated for the rich people at the top. Again, I'm not excusing anyone's racist actions. I've been an active supporter of BLM and white people everywhere need to get an understanding of how deeply institutional racism permeates every aspect of our society. We all need to be forceful about supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity.

This is all insane. It’s like the more episodes that are released, the more crap comes out and the angrier people are getting. I am interested to see how this season ends to say the least. I just really hope all of this negativity and all that comes to an end soon. I feel like a lot of people are pressured to say certain things in order to not get hate and cancelled. It’s just horrible how you have to be politically correct in the eye of the public and if your opinion is unpopular people take it to the extreme and try to ruin your life. And I really love kaitlin bristows points. She went out of the way to discuss both sides reasonably and critically.

I was thinking that Rachael Kirkconnel has a very striking facial features. I could be wrong but I think she is up there with Cindy Crawford, type of thing, as like a Covergirl make-up model. The reality is that there were a number of other women in that sorority and they have not had this horrific condemnation that went on and on and despite her two appologies. It was like Rachael Kirkconnel was used as a whipping post for a lot of BLM anger. Also, Rachael Lyndsay did seem to grandstand on the issue and rather attacked Rachael Kirkconnel and did not let her reply actually. I think that the time has come for Rachael Kirkconnel to stick up for herself, get legal counsel and quite possibly seek defamation of character damages from Rachael L. I think that Chris Harrison actually had to defend Rachael K. If Rachael K. did not go on the Bachelor show she would not have received such damaging PR. Just saying...

I truly don't get why she couldn't speak. The "credible source" said you can't speak negatively against ABC or the franchise. The behavior in question is regarding actions OUTSIDE of the show. And I cant remember but it didn't seem like her apology indicated the network at all so I'm again baffled on why she couldn't speak earlier. Something is not right here.

I don't understand how people in general can say they need to be educated on racism. Why don't you know the simple difference between (right and wrong!!!!). I believe in second chances. Racheal is still young and has a lot of time to get her life together. Was this a joke you started and then found out the joke was on you because you found out a black man is loveable and loving. Now your conflicted. Can you love/like all blacks? or just Matt? You will now have major ethnic interactions. You were likeable during the show, there was no indication of racism from you. A hard truth to be recognized. You never once indicated your past. Matt will make the right decision, weather it is you or not. I trust Matt. I personally will except whatever decision he makes.

This is very hard to watch...because before this interview I liked the persona Chris displayed on his show. I knew I was reaching because America has 13% African Americans and 18% Hispanics and countless other mixed men and women and people of foreign ancestry...Which were never represented on his show, and I think being fair...We should beable to expect that atleast 32% of the bachelors and bachelorette seasons have black and brown bachelors. That didnt happen on his show. So it's obvious to me, if you are a trying to portray America as something other than the truth. You would not see it this way. And you would weed out those you see as not American as not right for your show. So I was obviously wrong about who Chris was and now we have the interview to prove it. He made some great points in this interview. Unfortunately in his mind they only apply to "white people' as far as the ideas of giving someone a chance. I'm sure there were black and brown bachelors and bachelorettes who wanted just a chance too. That he was not as opened minded about...IJS! there were 25 seasons of the Bachelor and if you do the math there should of been atleast 7 seasons of black or brown bachelors...That would be my case against Chris! It's also the case against the Party he is affilliated with and the President he supported...Just look at the numbers folks...There's no real debate here...There are only 2 black republican house members...I believe that's 1%. There are many black and brown people who are just looking for a "chance".

I've said way too much on this season already. I knew.. I repeat, I KNEW this season would be a huge clusterfuck, just because of the optics it was brought about. The first black bachelor is announced during the Racial protests... not a coincidence. also the pick a biracial bachelor. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows them highlighting him mainly having a white mother and not having a black father. not a coincidence. His last date with... whoever, they have a nice time at an amusement park, and then get serenaded... by a country group. Two black people, being romantic... by a damn country artist. Not a damn coincidence. And yes, it is the most diverse group of women they've had, but we know he's gonna end up with a white woman.... Again no problem with that either, but again it's about the optics. ABC blew it by waiting this long for a black bachelor and not making him be organic and authentic... not him, but the show itself. And I'm not at all bothered by what rachel had to say. The whole antebellem plantation wedding thing.... look, white people are going to do white people stuff without worrying about how it looks to others outside their race. how many times has this happened. So, she's ignorant... not racist... at least I hope not. One thing that I can't ignore is the conversations Matt is having, or not having. The bald lady talked about her hair, which was a very good conversation to have about black hair and what it means to black people, and Matt said barely anything about it... only to find out ABC cut out most of his dialogue about it. WHY???
@connieravezzani19453 жыл бұрын
I don't believe that "silence is complicity". There's a few reasons why people don't speak up. Maybe they don't care for whatever reason or they're tired of things getting misinterpreted or they're afraid of the cancel mentality or they don't see it as a big deal or any other reason. One would think that as a society we would grow as we age and not get so hung up on things or blow them up. At the end of the day does all this really matter or does every misdeed from the past need to be brought to the town square so those who erred can get stoned or beaten while the onlookers who also have skeletons in their closets cheer them on. Enough already can't we just get along! None of this matters.
