I think this would look really great in southwest colors. Gonna fool around with the colors..I'll send you a picture. Like the spiraling tip. I'd seen it done, but couldn't quite figure out what was going on. With Christmas coming up, a 6 week break will probably be required. Thanks for your tutorials, really enjoy your approach. My thoughts - I just got done hiking the French Alps and this pattern screams out to me. I would take the last design you did (the offset, horizontal) and do it in icy blue fabrics with a white, tone on tone, with snowflakes background fabric. Then it is a frozen winter scene to me. Anyway, it is on my list of quilts to make. d

Actually, I didn't try making one row horizontal and one row vertical. That sounds like a fantastic idea. I am not able to try every possible layout so I am glad when creative viewers like you suggest additional designs. That will probably look really good. Keep giving me great suggestions! See you in November!

Very nice. It looks hard; but, it isn't. Wonderful. I wonder what his pattern would look like in Southwestern colors?

LOL! This was my attempt at southwestern colors. 🤣🤣🤣 I was going for copper and turquois, but this was the closest I could find at my local quilt store. I would love to see it made in other colors. What would you suggest?

I UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU HAVE A 4X4 INCH BLOCK AN YOU SEW DOWN THE LINE [[AFTER YOU PENCIL IT IN]] YOU GET A 4X4 INCH HST... [[THIS FINALLY DAWNED ON ME HOW THAT WAS DONE BUT THE REST IS SO FAR OUT THERE THAT IM LOST FOR THE MATH PART]] ... NOW HOW DO YOU MEASURE FOR A 2 HST BLOCK SO THAT YOU CAN DO THE DOUBLE CUT... ... I AM MISSING SOMETHING VERY VITLE HERE AN CAN NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS.. ... ITS NOT SO MUCH THE 1 BLOCK [[OF 2 FABRICS FOR THE 1HST]] BUT THE 2, 4, 8[?] ETC ETC... HOW DO YOU DO THE MATH TO MAKE THE SAME HSTs IN THE SAME SIZE IN THE 2,4,8 [[MANY HST]] IN A PIECE OF FABRIC X2 TO GET THOSE SAME SIZE HST YOUR WORKING FOR???? ... THE MATH IS WHAT IS MAKING ME CRAZY.... I WISHED THAT SOMEONE MADE A HST MATH BOOK SO THAT I DIDNT HAVE TO BE SO STUPID IN THE MAKING OR HAVE TO ASK SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THAT FOR ME AN NOT TELL ME SQUAT ON HOW THEY DID THE MATH... UUUUUGGGGHHHH ... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY GOD HAVE MERCY ON MY MATH SKILLS.... [[I HAVE NONE BECAUSE I AM DYSLEXIC & DYSGRAPHIC AN MATH WENT OUT THE WINDOW IN SCHOOL]] I AM LUCKY IF I I CAN UNDERSTAND; SIMPLE ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY, AN DIVIDE ,THE REST IS LIKE A MONKEY DOIN A MATH PROBLEM ITS JUST NOT IN ME TO UNDERSTAND IT... AN TOO OLD TO START NOW TO GET SCHOOLING TO UNDERSTAND IT... I HAVE HAD SO MANY HOURS OF TEARS BECAUSE OF MY INABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE MATH THAT IS NEEDED.... SIGHHHHHHHH LETS JUST SAY I AM VERY HEART BROKEN BECAUSE OF MY NON-SKILLS IN MATH BECAUSE I LOVE TO QUILT.... BLESSINGS & BE HOPE FILLED ...........................F-R-A-N-K-I........................... 💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔

Don't worry Franki, I will help you if I can. The most important thing to remember that 4" X 4" squares will NOT make 4" HST's. Because of the seam allowance the HST will be almost 1/2" smaller than the original square. So: I use a 4" square to make a 3 1/2" HST. I use a 5" square to make a 4 1/2" HST. I use a 5 1/2" square to make a 5" HST. 1/2" is all you have to remember. The HST will be about 1/2" smaller than the squares. I always trim to make it exact. VERY IMPORTANT. Don't sew on the line. Sew 1/4" on either side of the line, then cut on the line. This will give you two HST's about 1/2" smaller than the original squares. I demonstrate this in my first video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJbIkqCCr66XqNE
