I know you guys say it all the time: "we didn't want to go overboard on this car" but you guys can't help yourselves ;) The wheel well/ducts, the relay cover, the upper bumper valance piece. I just want to commend you guys for always building top-notch vehicles, never forgetting the important details. It's those details that set you guys apart from the rest, every time! Kudos fellas!

so off the cuff, what do you think it could be. some people mentioned the switch from primary to secondary injectors or fuel damper
@RGHTBrainDesignDrive2 жыл бұрын
@@MelonTL_YH2 I could see it off of a log file pretty easily, but speculation without data is just a bad foot to start on. With diagnostics, I always go in with an open mind and ask a bunch of questions about where things are grounded, which spark plugs, timing at a given RPM/Load, staging location, etc. There are so many small factors that I take for granted after doing 200+ of these engines that I'd rather start with fresh eyes.

Regarding the missfire, which plugs was used? I saw you tried gapping, but as a matter of a fact the "propper" sparkplugs that should be used on a rotary according to Mazda is something like the NGK BUR7EQ for leading plugs and BUR9EQ for trailing which you can't gap like normal plugs. Best of luck investigating.

Probably some flow issue resonance or pulsing that doesn't play nice until the pressures/flow are at the top. The smaller turbo or tubing size or arrangement is causing the issue

Glad to hear that you aren't making the mistake that so many poor unsuspecting rotary owners made by trying to run full synthetic without deleting the metering and doing fuel premix. Full synthetic is great until you encounter an engine that actually needs to burn a small amount of oil.

What kind of spark plugs are you using? It looked like that spark plug you were gaping had a standard grounding strap. I've owned rotaries for almost 20 years and I've never seen that on a rotary. As far as I know (which I'm no expert) you don't gap spark plugs on a rotary.
@speedacademy2 жыл бұрын
We should have explained this, but we started the session on OE temp 9 plugs in all four holes and switches to the strapped temp 10 plugs to see if going to a colder plug would fix the issue. We are going to switch to the NGK strapless race plugs but the strapped ones were all we had available on the dyno.
@howzertech22222 жыл бұрын
@@speedacademy 9 range plugs should be good for ~400whp. My FD is a bit more powerful than your car and I've been using NGK BUR9EQP for three years without issues. You may want to look at the stock coils and their wiring harness (inside the main fender loom). My harness was causing issues so I bypassed the whole system with a set of AEM 1GN-1A coils. There's a guy on RX7Club that makes a plug&play RHD setup. I think his user name is "yourekillingmesmalls."

None the less it's a good build. And yes we do want to hear the car cruise down the road 👍. Good luck guys.
