I know you guys say it all the time: "we didn't want to go overboard on this car" but you guys can't help yourselves ;) The wheel well/ducts, the relay cover, the upper bumper valance piece. I just want to commend you guys for always building top-notch vehicles, never forgetting the important details. It's those details that set you guys apart from the rest, every time! Kudos fellas!

I reckon it could be the transition from the primary to the secondary injectors, that is causing your break up, seems about the right place in the rpm range for this. They are very tricky to transition right.

@RGHTBrainDesignDrive
@RGHTBrainDesignDrive 2 жыл бұрын
@@MelonTL_YH2 I could see it off of a log file pretty easily, but speculation without data is just a bad foot to start on. With diagnostics, I always go in with an open mind and ask a bunch of questions about where things are grounded, which spark plugs, timing at a given RPM/Load, staging location, etc. There are so many small factors that I take for granted after doing 200+ of these engines that I'd rather start with fresh eyes.

Under tray should have gone under the front lip. I learned that the hard way. Wind gets between the gaps and damages the strength ultimately destroying the liner and puts a lot of pressure on the front lip and front bumper.

I ran Miata in SCCA and 24 hour races, I campaigned ist gen RX7 in ITA for 3 years and still own my 92 FD R1 which I used for instructing. Sweet. The FD we had air to water, then to large A2A. Good stuff guys. ( i usd 2 MSD boxes with hi power motorcycle coils up to 20lbs no issue) used Nippondenso plugs much colder fine wire.FC Datalogic did not use stock timing split.

Regarding the missfire, which plugs was used? I saw you tried gapping, but as a matter of a fact the "propper" sparkplugs that should be used on a rotary according to Mazda is something like the NGK BUR7EQ for leading plugs and BUR9EQ for trailing which you can't gap like normal plugs. Best of luck investigating.

Probably some flow issue resonance or pulsing that doesn't play nice until the pressures/flow are at the top. The smaller turbo or tubing size or arrangement is causing the issue

What kind of spark plugs are you using? It looked like that spark plug you were gaping had a standard grounding strap. I've owned rotaries for almost 20 years and I've never seen that on a rotary. As far as I know (which I'm no expert) you don't gap spark plugs on a rotary.
@speedacademy
@speedacademy 2 жыл бұрын
We should have explained this, but we started the session on OE temp 9 plugs in all four holes and switches to the strapped temp 10 plugs to see if going to a colder plug would fix the issue. We are going to switch to the NGK strapless race plugs but the strapped ones were all we had available on the dyno.
@howzertech2222
@howzertech2222 2 жыл бұрын
@@speedacademy 9 range plugs should be good for ~400whp. My FD is a bit more powerful than your car and I've been using NGK BUR9EQP for three years without issues. You may want to look at the stock coils and their wiring harness (inside the main fender loom). My harness was causing issues so I bypassed the whole system with a set of AEM 1GN-1A coils. There's a guy on RX7Club that makes a plug&play RHD setup. I think his user name is "yourekillingmesmalls."

Been watching you guys for a while but personally feel like the videos are getting super rushed... maybe uplaod less and spend more time on the videos. Would've enjoyed more work on the car in the beginning followed by the trip to the dyno to hear the car before and after and just over all more content with the car it's self. None the less it's a good build. And yes we do want to hear the car cruise down the road 👍. Good luck guys.
