a classic pistol battle-tested all around the world. During the Warlord era of China, they used a lot of these (chinese copy chambered in .45).
@WellBattle62 жыл бұрын
And many of the Chinese copies were converted into carbines by adding a stock (since rifles couldn’t be imported).
@SSD_Penumbra2 жыл бұрын
Even cooler (and more dark) was that the Chinese variant was used in full auto. Because it could typically kick vertically, they would hold it sideways so that the recoil would force the gun horizontally. It was basically used to mow down enemies. They nicknamed the technique "bandit shooting".

Forgotten Weapons has a lot of great videos on bootleg Chinese pistols and they're all fantastic.

Wait, a chinese copy of a weapon is actually better for once?
@SSD_Penumbra2 жыл бұрын
@@bored8321 Well, considering they came in full auto and used .45 colt, I wouldn't call it "better". Imagine trying to accurately shoot a full-auto m1911, then make it twice as heavy since the Chinese c96s were made from pure steel.
@colbunkmust2 жыл бұрын
C96 definitely saw a lot of combat, and it wasn't just issued to officers. Trench raiders, cavalry, artillery, and naval boarding parties of multiple countries all used C96s. Churchill had one in Africa. And they were used extensively by Chinese paramilitary forces during the warlord period of post-Qing Dynasty.

I'm more partial to the Punisher. The FN Five-seveN in RE4. Mostly due to my playtyle of lining up ganados and blasting them away with the shotgun. And since they're knocked down close together its easy to knife multiple dudes to death. The punisher works well with my playstyle since it can pierce theough multiple enemies. So even headshots can hit another head. They're also hilarious against the shield ganados in the castle. Kneecapping them and then pulling off a clean hit to the head.

He was wrong about polymers. The first commercially used polymers predate this gun! The oldest polymers I can think of are: 3) Bakelite (radios, gun grips, and magazines) 2) cellulose nitrate (billiard balls, guitar picks, films storing photos or movies). Note: this one can explode or burn violently. 1) milk-based duroplast (similar to Bakelite, but even older, it was used among other things for buttons on clothing). This is probably the only one you can make at home with kitchen materials.
@Sneakyboson2 жыл бұрын
Is the milk based one similar to casine? I remember making it in science class in high school. Yeah Bakelite was used on the MP40 grips I think, and used extensively for those old school ring dial telephones.
@edi98922 жыл бұрын
@@Sneakyboson Indeed. Bakelite was used for these things. It was at the time the only commercially successful polymer that was also robust. I'm not 100% sure about casein, but it might very well be the one I forgot the name of. If I remember correctly, you need to acidify the milk and heat it a little, separate the solids and then you can further dehydrate them, shape them, and harden them by heating them.
@M-1996A12 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong, but when I bought my Remington Model 11 and was researching it and the browning auto-5, I read that the fiber cushion in the back of the receiver to absorb the impact of the bolt was “the first use of polymer in a commercially produced firearm” being first released in 1905.

5:45 the one exception to that I would say would be WW1. In the days before semi auto rifles, the C96 with the stock was used in close in trench fighting to good effect as an early sort of pistol caliber carbine. Although the Luger was the better option for this.
@hallofguns81742 жыл бұрын
What made the Luger better in your opinion? I would have preferred the C96 myself.
@ottovonbearsmark88762 жыл бұрын
@@hallofguns8174 biggest thing is during WW1 the Mauser would not have had detachable magazines like the one in the video, the Luger did. You would have had to reload with stripper clips. The first pistol I ever shot was my dad's old S&W 469, shortly before a 357 Magnum (can't recall the model but it's full stainless, 4" barrel, made in the late 80s/early 90s.) Some of the old (after the C96) designs were actually pretty comfortable like the Bergmann-Luger pistols, nambu, and even the 1911. It's always crazy to see the progression of firearms through the decades. It definitely makes you appreciate how awesome everything is today.

@@Timberwolf581 Same. I do feel that the effect of the big daddy was a little lost (Bioshock 1 did the big daddy better) but I loved the partnership you had with Sinclair and how they approached the moral dilemma of harvesting little sisters with that one mission where you be the little sister (which was far better than how the first game expressed it). I think the only criticism is that killing the guy who became a cancerous blob was considered a morally bad choice even though that clearly was the right choice since he even asked you to kill him since he was going insane. The only reason game journalists gave it a bad score is because it was critical on socialism. To that end though, I think Sophia Lamb really embodied the ideology she represented just as well as Andrew Ryan embodied capitalism. Ryan was cold but at the same time truly believed in his city (to the point of letting his competitor usurp him), while Lamb radiated a veneer of compassion and understanding but enacting the most horrific punishments on whoever was in her way.
