What do you mean "ALL he has is the power of the speed force??" The power of the speed force is literally infinite, thus making Flash potentially the most powerful character in the DC Universe. The Flash can destroy timelines, like he did in Flashpoint, and he created the New 52 universe. He is practically God.

It has been stated to be finite. As the timeline marched on they started to use it up making the flash slower and slower through out all of time (I understand thats makes no sense, but its time travel, it never does) as th flash got slower and younger versions of the flash also became slower and some people he saved died and he had to go back in time to do... Um stuff(didnt read that far). Also the currest reverse flash started killing a bunch of people who had speedforce based powers because they were using it up and he wanted to be faster.

I'm not really a comic reader. In fact, I dislike reading the comics (too slow, too much fluff, etc.) So all I knew from The Flash was from research. Just like any other superhero I may like. So, I've liked the concept of the Flash for a very long time. I've never been a Batman fan, I've liked Superman at some points, but I always found him to be over-credited. I didn't like the Flash from the animated series because 1. They used Wally West instead of Barry Allen. 2. BECAUSE they used Wally West, he was just like the comic relief - always goofing, and doing stupid shit. I'm here screaming at the TV saying "you could take EVERYONE on, stop playing around. I've taken up buying some of the comics that mean something to me from what I like about the Flash mythos (Flashpoint, Out of Time, Secret Files #3, etc). But I can't just sit and read them, I get bored easily.

Flash has some really silly enemies (most heroes have) and Captain Boomerang originate from a time when all Flash's powers and abilities hadn't been established yet.

I believe the best way to discuss the concept of energy constructs in relation to The Flash is to clarify that it's not quite like Green Lanterns'. He can't really manage projections per se, but.. He can create an aura to protect himself from the hazards of super speed like impact or friction, he can coat himself to suit up and support his body, and he can make steps where there aren't any like air or light. I do wish this aspect of his abilities were expanded further.

I have this Flash novel, written about a decade ago. The story is about Wally West fighting this creation of a scientist genetically modifying a human clone using the D.N.A. of a speedster. The being was called the Super Luminoid, a creature that could move much faster than the speed of light. Wally never had as great a grasp of the Speed Force as Barry, so he was getting his ass handed to him, and the side-effect of the Super Luminoid using it's powers was that it was destroying other dimensions as it passed through them to achieve faster than light speed travel. But, through the Speed Force, a being from another dimension who wants to save Wally West's reality as well as all other dimensions was able to contact Wally and show him what it meant to truly wield what they called the Quantum Power. With it, you could be anywhere at anytime in any dimension. Light constructs like the Lanterns would also be possible. Perhaps even more so than that, someone who possessed and fully understood the Quantum Power could bend and shape reality to their whim like Q on Star Trek. But the knowledge was only temporary as the being didn't believe Wally or anyone else in his dimension was ready to truly understand the power that they called the Speed Force until they achieved it on their own. Though the ability to fully use the Quantum Power faded, his grasp of using the Speed Force effectively reached Barry's level. **spoilers** In the book, the D.N.A. of Iris West was the one used to create the Super Luminoid. Turns out that Iris had the greatest potential for being a speedster, but for some reason it never triggered in the Flash's universe. And the being from another dimension that helps Wally win against the Super Luminoid turns out to be Iris West from that dimension, who was kidnapped by time traveling alien slavers when they invaded Earth in that dimension. They took her and all other captured humans back to their future to use as slaves and material for experiments. The aliens knew of her potential genetic marker for being a speedster, and in an attempt to awaken her powers they dropped her into a black hole seven times, and on the seventh time her abilities awoke and she was so powerful that she destroyed all of the slavers in the blink of an eye and freed all of the slaves, aliens and humans. She then helped create that dimension's Justice League, though it was called something different.

There is another aspect that is brushed over but has to be obviously happening, the speed force field that encompasses the speedster also has to be able to encompass objects they are holding and people, other wise when ever the Flash grabs some one running at super speeds he'd simply just kill them, so for that brief moment the person he's touching in sense absorbs some of that energy allowing them to also go super fast and have the laws of physics bent around them. I mean, the flash going 5 times the speed of sound, would be alot more impact then the ground the person was about to just hit. On that same note, that white dwarf star punch bothers me, because the Flash clearly never had the true kinetic energy his relative velocity would have, sure he's going the speed of light, but doesn't simply muderlize people he hits at those speeds, or terrain. Unless we're saying the same effect as before where the speed force energy leaks off of him, protecting the enviroment and opponents from his kinetic energy. Am I the only one slightly confused here about this?

The only-so-much-to-go-around thing was also shown in The Flash tv show, when Reverse-Flash travels back in time to kill Barry's mother but in turn, he used too much speed force at one time so he loses it. After that he only gets it back in spurts (an explainer, for anyone who was confused by how Eobard Thawne lost his speed)

It takes them to episode 17 to introduce the speed force. It returns at the end of the season. But they have scrambled the characters Eobard Thawn, Professor Zoom and the Reverse Flash. Comic-Con confirmed that Zoom will be the big bad in season 2 as well as introducing Jay and Wally and Earth 2.

I think the fact that the TV show is calling on so many different references that they pretty much have to go all-in and mention the speed force. They are setting it up so that Barry learns he can travel thru time and he'll of course try to stop his mother's murder. Either way, the pilot was good enough and I really like this version of Barry Allen.

The speedforce is all and every energy consumed ever in the entire omniverse/multiverse meaning that if flash used it to its full potential he would be on a level of God, he can literally make everyone and everything not be able to move just by speed stealing, and thinking takes energy which in turn is also controlled by the speedforce if used to its full potential

What I question is this: where does Superman get his speed? He has been established to not have the ability to tap into the Speed Force and the flashes have shown to be faster than he, but he's got speed that is on par with some of the weaker speedsters.

I have follow the flash comics and didn't read all the comment, so forgive me.I stopped when my first daughter was born, but I have loved the series for years. Barry is my favorite. But his link to the Speed Force is a circle. Granted everyone else dipped in the pool, BUT, no one ever said why it started. He started the Flash and then redid it again and again. And taking Max and jay out of the equation, it always comes back to Barry.

ok i think in THE FIRST 2:01 you actually SORT of answered my question however considering and realizing this was done three years ago.....first it has become clear OF LATE they seem to be doing the new 52 version of barry at least RIGHT NOW but my question is this does a speedster retain their molecular cohesion when THEY GO INTO THE SPEED FORCE??and you described it as the speedster afterlife WHICH GENERALLY would say no ESPECIALLY for FULL MORTALS. Now as an ILLUSTRATION I have seen a demi god as in Hercules in Hercules the legendary journeys REALIZING A) I am half greek here for one B) Hercules is a Demi god BUT still he was able to walk into BOTH afterlifes elysian fields and tartarus so both heaven and hell in christain parlance THE POINT IS he was still in his mortal body fully alive and molecular cohesion intact...DOES IT WORK THAT WAY FOR SPEEDSTERS??or does it depend on who we are speaking of??

I know this is an old video and no one may reply to it but it's more me thinking out loud, err typing out loud? Anyway, I know that much like Quicksilver, The Flash doesn't create sonic booms when he runs faster than the speed of sound because he doesn't have anything making sound like the engines of a plane. But what about the sound of his feet hitting the pavement or whatever surface he runs on, surely that's making sound. What about when he talks going that fast? Obviously they wouldn't be as large as a plane's but they should still be enough to damage windows.

growing up the only superhero I liked was the flash. I felt superman was overpowered but now that I understand his need to hold himself back. didn't like how green laterns power came from a song. I thought it was because of their love for one another that Flash "denied" the Anti-Life Equation on Iris. Its a logical reasoning that makes everyone give up their free-will, so I dont see how the Speed-Force could denie it...
