Back in the 1980s/90s in NYC Chinatown, we used to call it Yi Chuan. "Mind Boxing" It was said to be still as mountain, powerful as thunder. This was done before physical martial arts, like Wing Chun. I still do it today 30 years later.

Hello, dear LuChin ! After your Sunday class on IT Live , I felt motivated to continue with the Zhan Zhuagn practice and I managed to do it for 30 minutes !!! It was an amazing experience ! ! After a few minutes I felt my right shoulder acting up but as I persisted in relaxing my shoulders and my muscles , the pain went away. I moved my body, guided by the chi, from time to time, to alleviate the pain but without completely dropping my elbows. After a while, someting wonderful started to happen. My ellbows started to lift by themselves, my fingers to spread, my arms to open their embrace (like hugging a beautiful tree), my horse stance to widen, my feet to anchor themselves better on the sides... As you said, I felt that the chi was correcting my body position ! I usually get a bad back pain when I stand without moving for a longer period ! Not this time !! I feel so calm now and a feeling of happiness is surrounding me ! This is trully a wonderful gift ! I also love your video, with clear, step-by-step explanations. Your voice is so soothing ! Thank you so much, LuChin ! ❤❤❤

Is there a recommended best time of day to perform this?

Just remembered I haven’t responded to your question. Sorry! To nourish health, a 30 consecutive-minutes of Zhan Zhuang would help maintain your good health. But if you have underlying conditions, chronic disease or injuries, then you should try to work up to 40 executive minutes each time. I’m not sure where you are in Zhan Zhuang, please don’t be discouraged. it takes time. Start with five minutes, add a minute each day, and you will make it there. 🙏❤️🩹.

Zhan Zhuang is a fundamental training in martial art. In the old days before a master teach a disciple combat skills, he will probably have to practice Zhan Zhuang for a couple of years. In martial art, they hold the pose much lower. But for health and healing, we hold the pose high.

Dear LuChin, I’ve done this routine today for only 7 minutes because after about 2 minutes my body (especially the lower part, from the pelvis to the legs) started to trembling. I’m practicing this routine everyday with you, but the shaking happened for the first time. I’ve also changed the place, usually I’m doing the morning exercises in my living room, but today I’ve done it in the corridor, in front of the mirror. I’m not sure if the place of doing the exercises matters… - Shall I do the practice longer regardless the trembling body? After I finished those 7 minutes I feel nice and relaxed. - Does the place of practicing the qigong matter a lot? - How many times a day one can practice this meditation? Could you please comment? Thank You in advance, I wish you fantastic day 🔆❤️🔆
@Puils7 ай бұрын
Trembling is a natural way for the body to release tension and accustom to the right patterns of movement. I'd just go with it, it can even get a bit intense, but its perfectly normal (look up TRE exercises for example), and then it should go away after practising for a while

Seems an absurd way of exercising from a Western or Japanese point of view until you try it.....can't do it that well I also practice it seated and lying down I first encountered it in 1995 in a park in Osaka early morning.....I used to suffer severe asthma and would do ken suburi in a park nearby.....saw this foreigner doing some weird exercise turns out he was studying Taikiken created by Kenichi Sawai who in 1931 in China challenged Wang Xiangzhai in a park in Beijing to a match he was a judo and kendo practitioner.....soundly defeated he started to study with the master and took Chinese culture back to Japan After WWII.....10 years later in 2006 I ended up in China and started doing taichi and would alternate between moving practice and stillness.....the stillness was missing from my Japanese martial arts training now I feel especially older stillness or posture holding training is especially important to calm jangled nerves in a chaotic modern world something many young people will find out hopefully
