Great explanation as always. The XXL version is so worth it ! Everything is just so much bigger!

When we did the James Bond Archives, a lot of people bought the small edition, because of price, but after reading/experiencing the trade edition they many decided to get the XXL edition.

@@wordsmithpd yes, this is one of those books that when you get the smaller edition, due to lack of funds, you regret not going broke getting the larger one for the rest of your life ;-)

Hey Paul, just wanted to say thank you for both Star Wars Archive books. You really got into the nitty gritty of the film making progress and I loved how you demonstrated the collaborative process of film making and how George pulled it together. All the information was so beautifully displayed with beautiful artwork and full of hidden gems. I can't imagine how hard it would have been to sift through everything and think about how you would display it and what wouldn't make the cut. You can feel the love and care that's gone into the books by both reading and just looking at them, so thank you. I'm not the biggest Bond fan but but I'll be giving your book a go and look forward to your future work. Keep em coming!

Thanks for this. Yes, it was a lot of work, but great fun as well. As well as THE JAMES BOND ARCHIVES, I am also very proud of my work on THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN ARCHIVES, which includes a lot of rare and previously unpublished materials.

The XXL version on Tachsen's website coming out in September, is that exactly the same version as the one shown here in the video?
@wordsmithpd8 ай бұрын
The Trade Edition coming out Sept has the exact same content/layout at the XXL edition, but the page size will be smaller.

Mr. Duncan. I have a question. I have been reading this book lately and I noticed what looks like an odd typo during the part where George Lucas describes the Ewoks. He says "The point was that these cute little fuzzy bunnies end up destroying the empire. It's ironic that it's exactly what happened in Vietnam." Given the context of the previous sentence and the fact that the Vietnam war was what influenced the Ewoks in the first place. It looks more like the "That" in that second sentence was supposed to be a "and". In other words, I think what he actually said was... "It's ironic and it's exactly what happened in Vietnam."

Thanks for this. When people are chatting they often concatenate ideas in their head as they speak and they switch ideas/tenses mid-sentence. I try as much as possible to preserve the words and speech patterns of the conversation rather than rewrite. The text was sent to George for his input but he decided not to change it.

“That’s” makes more sense to me and the word I would have used in this context. “It’s ironic that…” is common parlance.
@rutgerlidgard7446 Жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed your video! Except for the first chapter, would you say that the text are pretty much the same between the two books?
@wordsmithpd Жыл бұрын
The appendices are cut. Also there are 700 fewer captions, and there is additional info in the captions that is not in the main text.

Hi Paul. Senator Palpatine. Did george base the name on senator palantine from the 1976 movie Taxi Driver?
@wordsmithpd Жыл бұрын
No idea. Over the years George would add interesting names into his notebook and then later find a place to use them.

Do we know that that Target Exclusive version of the smaller one contains all the same content as the standard small version? It’s my understanding that they are the same, just broken into 3 volumes (by film).

I was not involved in the Target version. My understanding is that it is the same text as the 40 edition. Maybe a few images different at the front and end. I have not seen a copy.
