I have been listening to this on and off for 10 years now. I still think this is one of the finest pieces of electric guitar ever. It has everything: great melody and sound, fusion rock-jazz, skill and dexterity, virtuosity, different techniques well executed, precision, innovation. Oh, and I met his nephew on the Camino de Santiago once!

Just watched this for perhaps 15th time, ever since discovering it about 3 years ago. This time I made sure my desktop had a piece of thick foam right at the edge, to cushion my jaw dropping...:-) His impeccably clean technique, the computer-precise phrasing, the mastery of tone and dynamics - absolutely world class. And on top of that - tons of soul and swing... There's only a handful of guitarists our there who can play with such clarity and precision without sacrificing an ounce of feel and expression. That combination - unique and precious - is the mark of a Master. Utmost Respect.

It's probably the best guitar piece i ever heard. I grew up listening to my dad's music like Deep Purple, Led zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Nazareth, and so on... then i started playing guitar at 14 and fell in love with Metallica, yengwe malmsteen, satriani, and so on.. but if i had to play one song to the rest of my life on my guitar, it is it! I stoped olaying guitar about 7 years ago when my first child was born and now afterll a birth of a fourth child i just picked up my guitar and im trying to re learn this piece :) i used know how to play 75 percent of it 🙃 I have the original steffans tabs and backing tracks for it that i bought when this piece came out. Steffen, thank you for your passion for music and for composing this song for all of us to enjoy!!!

Ironic to be reading the comparison to Eric Johnson - a few years late on response yet yes - been following Stephan for years - EVERY time I listen and watch his nuance - classy tension in his style and range of skill. A great balance.
@whitelotus80810 жыл бұрын
Ive been listening to this song for years now and im finally a good enough player to attempt to cover it. Ill just say this now: Its a deceptively simple song and it takes a fair amount of chops to play. Not to mention nail... Fingerstyle, hybrid picking, some shreddy bits, alternate picking, strange stretches and chordal shapes, little nuances, etc. I appreciated its musicality when I was younger, but I now can appreciate it further from a technical standpoint. This is a fusion work of art, played before fusion got really popular amongst the modern virtuoso type players you see today on lick library and such. It really shows that Steffen was an innovator back in the day, around the time when drifting became a huge sensation. This guy will always be a huge influence on my playing style. Too bad only this one album is available for purchase on itunes. Shame really..
