You're probably right, but that poor soul couldn't be responsible for the same oversight Jobs had! Not foreseeing that over 500 connected devices to one wifi network might be a problem!
@sireuchre5 жыл бұрын
@@Simple_Jackass It wasn't over 500 devices connected to one network, it was over 500 'base stations', as in hotspots or access points, showing up. People were providing their own wifi connectivity via mobile hotspots and such, and it was creating wifi congestion on the band. At that time, basically everything was running on the 2.4ghz band, and there's only 14 channels in that band, and they overlap. Radio transceivers (which wifi is a radio device) can only handle so much crosstalk at a time, so the effective throughput drops to nil. In the new Apple owned auditorium for their press events, I'm going to bet they provide an extremely robust wifi service, which would help avoid this issue. At the time of the event shown here, they had to rely on someone else's infrastructure.

Even when the product isn't working, Apple somehow still makes it look good.

You have to understand that the 802.11 wifi spec only has a limited number of frequencies available. If there are ~500 different networks all looking for different wifi channels, you'll run out of unique frequencies pretty quickly. When this happens, devices have to sort through multiple networks on the same frequency and interlace data, in effect slowing any networks on that specific frequency. It would sort of behave similar to a DDoS attack. No mobile device would handle it well.
