The writing in "Message Recieved" is really clever: If you go back and re-watch the episode, you can tell Peridot ALWAYS was intending to try to get Yellow Diamond to cancel the Cluster: Peridot sees YD as perfectly rational and reasonable, so she thinks that by pointing out the Earth has a unique ecosystem she can convince YD to do so: Peridot's dialog throughout the episode is just written in such a way that that's not apparent unless you already know that. Once Yellow Diamond made it clear she IRRATIONALLY wants the Earth to be destroyed, Peridot puts her foot down with her.

I love that H-man pointed it out with the call to Yellow Diamond, Peridots reasoning being so clear all along was something I didn't pick up the details on until my rewatch of the show. Peridots redemption arc is one of the best I've seen in any show! The way she doesn't abandon her previous beliefs and values, she just learns more things that challenge what she thought of as facts. After switching sides, she's still very much herself, she just has her own reasons for switching sides now, things she came to the conclusion to without being explicitly told them by someone else. And how it all came to a breaking point with Yellow Diamond NOT being a "rational, reasonable, efficient decision-maker", but instead very emotional and petty. One of those "broken pedestal" moments.

The s2 finale is in a way the end of not only Peridot's redemption arc, but also the entire arc of this season. It started with the Crystal Gems cleaning up the mess that was created when Peridot arrived and ended when Peridot joined the team. So it's a really good and poetic end to the season.

I love these Peridot episodes so much, her slowly starting/trying to understand Earth, its life forms and each of the Crystal Gems, etc is both super funny and incredibly precious and then the moment where she tries to sway her Diamond into a decision that'd be beneficial to both the Gems and the Earth, which YD refuses and the way she blows up at her, just- perfect!! Log Date 7 15 2 is probably one of my favorite episodes simply for being so stock full of Peridot fun (I can never get over the part of her shoving Greg off the roof XD)

peridot's character is meant to represent an aroace person (even though fusions dont have to be romantic), she like romance in fiction, but when it came to trying it out in real life, she knew that she couldnt and was uncomfortable with the idea and stopped.

And this is why Peridot is my fave Crystal Gem. She has one of the most extreme character arcs in the show; like the Peridot we have now is a very different character from the one we met back in season one... but all her development feels completely natural. It also helps that she's hilarious. ^_^

The scene where she winds up not fusing is often seen as ace/aro representation, a very beautiful scene that shows understanding without necessarily participating. Though such a relationship intimacy is mainly for gems I like how there are still relationships without fusion shown, like with Garnet and Amethyst avoiding fusion but still care for each other, Rose and Greg cannot fuse yet still have a very intimate relationship, it's a beautiful part of a relationship but not needed to have a relationship. I think its so beautiful.

The word "Clod" is really cleverly used here, it means a stupid person, but it also means a lump of dirt or soil, which is a double stab at Yellow Diamond, as she is called a stupid person and also, as a diamond, which are formed by immense heat and pressure for years, is merely referred to as a lump of dirt

It was never blues planet it was pinks she was having problems with the crystal gems rebelling(there were also thousands and crystal gems that died during the war) so blue came to help and then pink got shattered and blue and yellow had to destroy the rebellion in the war which they lost
