The first time I've ever seen this performance. Stevie's heartfelt inspirational speech during this song is priceless. This man was more than a great guitarist, he stood for the REAL DEAL as a human being and his words bring comfort in a modern era corrupted by greed and selfishness. Life without Stevie Ray is pretty bad here in the 21st century. We need this man today like hell needs ice water...

Today August 27th 31 years ago just minutes after 12 a.m. the Angels escorted Steven into the presence of almighty God. He was welcomed home by the author of love. Steven was always reaching for the Creator. The love of God flowed through him so effortlessly. We loved his music but we were attracted to him for the supernatural love he displayed. He's more alive now than he ever was on planet Earth. Steven was very special and we will always miss him.💖🙏

I was never was a big SRV fan when he was here. What a waste, I'm so mad at myself. Somebody said the music seemed to pass through him from am higher power. I couldn't agree more. He was annointed, and in my opinion a messenger of God's love. And he did an awesome job. God bless you Stevie Ray R.I.P.

Love the rap in the middle. The words he speaks are of a man who found redemption and was grateful for the new life he had and wanted others to be grateful for theirs. He was showing his true heart here. Stevie was on top of his game when he left us. He left way too early.

You have/had some excellent parents … imo 👍😎 M my older brother turned me on to him on a 4 hour drive to the Country to see our Gramomma. I was 15/16 and FINALLY old enough to get to ride with him in his car instead of with my parents and younger sisters!! So glad he did too, that’s all we listened to there and back; wore that cassette smoothe out! He also introduced me to Alan Parsons Project!! As far as music was concerned my brother was absolutely tuned in to the BEST!! Been a fan of SRV ever since..mid 70s or close! We had the greatest music right at our fingertips every day n didn’t know how lucky we were to have it!!! ❤️❤️👍😎

When Stevie died, I wasn't really into his music. I remembered them saying that Eric Clapton may have been on the helicopter and I was very upset about that. My, how things have changed. I cried like a baby when he died. It's still hard for me to accept he's gone. I was going through some crap during the mid 80's and we kinda got right at the same time. He was a God sent savior to my own guitar playing. As such, I was really discovering how beautiful player he was when he passed suddenly. The day the music died for me. This song captures perfectly how I felt about what he did for me. It changed my life. I hope to meet him in heaven one day.

I cried the day he died. I had never been able to express myself artistically. I had been playing a bass guitar that I borrowed from a friend. No amp. I laid my head on the body and listened for the right resonation. The first song that I ever played note for note, was Tin Pan Alley. I not only listened to Stevie, Tommy, Chris and Reese, I lived what they sang about. I hurt, all of the time, for everybody, when we didn't have much ourselves. This song lets my soul out when they come back from the talk. With you Stevie, died several generations of music that was n the cusp of being born. You and your bandmates, transformed emotion into music right before my eyes. I saw color in notes and felt emotion through sound. Life Without You. Thank you all, for a long look in the mirror.

My husband and I were holding tickets to Eric Clapton's final concert on his "Journeyman" tour. The show the weekend prior, in Michigan, was opened by SRV. Then, the music turned upside down, the tickets felt like stone. Would Clapton even go on ? He did. No one opened for him at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, he simply took the stage and did not stop for two hours. It seemed he was mourning through his guitar, the songs, the concert itself, but he played. SRV would approve.

Doesn't really matter who thinks who is better all he wanted was for people to love and take care of each other,out of all of the things he could have turned into a message he chose the one thing that he learned from almost dying,love is the one thing we've all got in common,and to give it freely is the one thing we should all do for one another . I'd wager that SRV,wherever he is watching from is smiling every time he feels his message gets through,and could care less about being better than Jimi or anyone else,and do I would even go on to say that if he were talking to you he would tell you that you are crazy that Jimi or albert or anyone of his inspirational idols were way better,because that's how humble he was,a beautiful person who went through hell and came out forged into one of the most influential, and inspirational Artistic minds of our time.So before you get all pissed of and argue over who is better at this or that,please remember that S R V was not just a guitar player S R V was one of the few people in history that used his own life and talents to say to us love is all we really have.
@wendyb55289 жыл бұрын
Jared hooker So well said Jared!! I don't think I have ever seen anyone understand what his message was like you. I feel the same way. I get shivers when he says we were brought into this world with love,,,, oh how true is that statement??Anyway, I think Stevie would have been very happy to see someone truly get what he was saying in this heartfelt song.Wendy
@lathosX9 жыл бұрын
I'm usually not much for comments,but to see people argue about who's better S R V or Jimi especially if you know anything about S R V,he was so humble and went through Hell and back and instead of becoming another tragically crippled superstar,he instead gave people who were way down the same road something that no one else could give them,Hope.Every time I hear his music,I feel that hope still coming through still today.In this age of online hatred,I was just smiling to see S R V still spreading his message,and though a viral video of something else of utterly no importance or significance will surely get a billion hits,here you find S R V ,and for those who really need it,hope.
