Id argue that the latter end of gone with the wind makes criticism,as well as the fact that Scarlett's treatment is not meant to be good. Rhett straight up says that southern arrogance won't win a war. There's the mockery of "king cotton". Sure the North is bad, but the bickering aloof racist southerners who change so quickly in their opinions isn't much better. Just my two cents though, your perfectly entitled to your opinion

She was even a Goldwater Girl, the furthest right you could get at that time. If that's the best the Democratic Party could do, I'm not impressed. I don't care what gender she is. If she wasn't doing anything for women under a certain tax bracket, she was of no value. Snyder and Co. simply don't GET Superman. They don't. They don't see the appeal of the character, their understanding of Batman seems based on fucking channel surfing by the tv-show in the 90's and good lord the rushing of the justice leagues introduction was horrible. Had I worked at Warner Bros. I would've looked at Man of Steel and Dark Knight Rises, Cut my losses, fired the fuck out of Snyder, Nolan and Goyer. THEN I would've waited a couple years for the right writer and the right director before giving Superman another shot.
@JeremyLeal16958 жыл бұрын
Ankford I disagree. superman is more than just the boy scout image that most think he is. in the comics, he has an inferiority complex. always worrying about what's the best way to take a situation. worried about being seen as some kind of god. personally, I think they captured that very well. as for Batman, were we watching the same movie? they got him just right, from his paranoia to his guilt over the death of Jason Todd. during that time in the comics, his methods were getting more and more brutal because he was clouded by vengence, and I think they translated that very well. but, that's jus me.

Brad, your thoughts on Collateral Beauty match mine almost exactly. I wasn't expecting much from the film, but the concept of being visited by embodiments of Love, Time, and Death was interesting in magical realist way. I had the fact that these people were actors spoiled for me by a review, but even that didn't prepare me for how mean-spirited and terrible this film is. And the twists at the end were absolutely ridiculous. I was in a somewhat full theater and the fact that people were actually moved by this...thing drove me absolutely bonkers. I usually stay for the credits out of respect for those who put their time and effort into the film, but I almost stormed out of the theater right when the credits started. Suicide Squad made me feel bewildered and frustrated; Collateral Beauty legitimately pissed me off.

also Clint's group of soldiers surrendered peacefully only to be put on a line and got shot down. 1:09 would you say Gone With the Wind qualifies? Granted I haven't seen the entire movie, so the movie could've been more of a neutral look at the southern reaction to the civil war. But it still covered the southern perception with a tragic lense, and from what I remembered the folks of the south were the intended sympathetic protagonists that endure the effects of the civil war. In particular I remember a southern town filled with injured patients, the main woman yelling "Oh dem terrible Yankees!", and a bunch of happy slaves reassuring her with some like "Now don't you worry miss sally [or whatever the fuck her name was], we'll get dem Yankees for ya".

It's because Warner Bros. were more concerned with using this as a setup for Justice League than telling a single, coherent story, because they were painfully aware that they were nearly a decade behind Marvel and needed to get to their big team-up movie as quickly as possible if they wanted to seriously compete with the dominating force in superhero movies. Honestly, they've screwed this whole cinematic universe up too much for it to be salvaged at this point, so they should just abandon it and start over from scratch. When only one movie in your whole series has generally positive reception, something has gone horribly wrong.

lol no worries, I had such hopes for Hosers after Tusk. I love Tusk, but you're points on Hosers are indeed on point. Tusk had Long, Michael Park, Johnny Depp, and a solid modern Osment performance. Also a super surprise in Genesis Rodriguez who is really really good. And they were all real characters in ridiculous circumstances. Those actors were treated like cartoons upon their return. It bears the greatest resemblance to an episode of the Clerks animated series than anything.

I liked BVS, but I get it. It stated fantastically and then it got gradually worse. The Batman scenes were the best, the ending was just terrible. Lex is like "Superman is a threat to humanity, so I'll create an even bigger threat that can't be reasoned with." That's the crap part of BVS, not freakin Martha.
@annnee68188 жыл бұрын
Laurentiu Badea Martha might not have been the biggest problem, but it was still dumb.
@LaurentiuBadea8 жыл бұрын
Ann Nee It was, but it was dumb in execution. It was actually the first time I realized that indeed they have the same name. They could have done it differently, but the movie still should have been strictly about Batman versus Superman and just that.

Laurentiu Badea lex is basically the angry atheist that some Christians think all are angry at superman (god) since his dad beat him

I think that the idea of MARTHA was that it was the first time superman was humanised to bruce, and that he was seeing someone in his position all those years ago and he has an opportunity to stop it. But yeah, like you said, the execution was awful.
@annnee68188 жыл бұрын
Statyk Elektricity I've heard this reason so many times but it doesn't seem right. Batman knows Superman saved people after man of steel, knew his alias, therefore knew he had salt of the earth parents. He even asks "Did your parents tell you you're special". Does a mother who's called Martha make you more human than all that?

The protagonists are indeed southern, and the Union is definitely the looming threat throughout the movie, but to the movie’s credit, it gives plenty of criticism to the very flawed southern characters and their flawed, dying culture

Hey Dave, I'm calling you out. Read my shitty comment, I fucking dare you. ------- Go ahead. ------- Keep going. Both you and Sarah are awesome people, and I legitimately enjoy seeing you two with Brad, Brian, Irving or any of the rest of the Midnight Screenings crew when you review the films you just watched. I usually watch the videos just far enough to get a general idea of what the movie is like, and click off when it starts getting in depth so I'm not spoiled, but hilariously enough when it's either of you with Brad I tend to forget to do that even when it's a film I want to watch. A much belated congrats with Sophie, I'm sure you two will make for great parents (if not you two will at least be ones that aren't boring, certainly), and I hope the three of you have a great 2017. Also, in case Brad himself doesn't read this, tell him I say thanks for, among many other things, helping get Crystal Pepsi onto shelves again; I was always curious about the drink, but was just too young to ever get the chance of trying it (I tried _Crystal From Pepsi_ when I was three, and I remember hating it). Anywho, I hope you weren't too disappointed that this comment wasn't the piss boiling shitshow you were hoping, and I await to see your starring performance in Jesus, Bro! I'm out.

"For those who liked BvS... fuck you! You're wrong." Dave Dave, no offense, I like your reviews, but all I can say is; grow up. It's perfectly fine if you didn't like the movie, but insulting those who liked it's just immature and arrogant. When it comes to personal taste there's no "right" or "wrong". Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that everybody in this world should do the same. That's the main reason I avoid converstations about comicbook movies today; there's no room for constructive debate anymore, just for a bunch of geeks, filled with ego, insulting each other for no good reason. Seriously... grow up.

I hope you're right about Dave. As I said; I like his reviews, but sometimes he's acting a bit arrogant, especially with comic book movies. Maybe it's just an act, who knows. :) As for comic book talk; yeah, it's getting worse each year. Too bad people don't use their energy for something producitve.

Anthony Sanchez Really? They hypocritically criticize Hillary v.s. America as being propaganda but don't even point out that practically all mainstream media and Hollywood is heavily slanted to the left, yes even a large percentage Fox News ran by left-leaning Murdoch. The only true independent/conservative media anymore is available via radio/podcasts.
@StonedGremlinProductions8 жыл бұрын
Slanted doesn't automatically mean bad. There's plenty of movies I've recommended that are made by conservative filmmakers. A good movie can still be a good movie even if there's still politics involved. And I'm hard pressed to think of a left leaning Hollywood film that equates consensual sex between conservatives with slave rape, which is something Hillary's America did. I'm aware that I'm saying this knowing full well you didn't actually listen to what we said, especially the part where we say propaganda doesn't automatically mean bad.

Tyler Livingston what sold BvS for you/didn't sell civil war for you? No hate btw, we're all adults here
@tylerlivingston26378 жыл бұрын
Nikolas Mokalis Well, my biggest problem with Civil War was that it's pretty much just the latest in a long line of formulaic Marvel movies. I'll give it this in that at least it's the first one to have consequences. At the same time, that's the same thing I loved about BvS. It is all about consequence. Granted, Civil War was a much better movie coming from an objective sense. But I felt more for the characters in BvS than in Civil War. I cared more about Batman's grief-driven crusade against some alien demigod than I did about RDJ trying to make the world see him as a better person by repeatedly punching his friend. I cared more about Superman trying to see if the world really needs him than Bucky being emo. Also, as much as I hated how he played the character, Eisenberg was at least more rememberable than Zemo. I liked both movies. I just personally liked BvS more.
@anikmonette21406 жыл бұрын
Tyler Livingston That's fine with me, but personally I don't know. Civil War was kinda okay... I think? I'll probably need to re-watch this one, BvS is more fresh in my mind so I remember what I didn't like it.
