I have it more than ever…it’s unavoidable unless you live in a cave and don’t witness the violence and horrific climatic events that are decimating entire cities…this is not coming from our thinking..it’s it egoic…it’s that we are human beings who feel compassion and empathy for others..my anxiety stems from watching all these people struggling…how do you shut off anxiety over this? The anxiety I believe, stems from our lack of control over events that are almost an every day occurrence and the inability to help others who are suffering…how I wish Eckhart would address this issue that I feel is separate from what he’s describing here…this has to do with control of the mind and with the self..how do you “control” the anxiety over others suffering and the chaos that is occurring all over the world? I haven’t had success with shutting off my ❤ break over the state of our world…

@@pamchesler242 Hi Pam, you're definitely an empath and that's a good thing. Atleast you have compassion for those who suffer. But there is no point in beating yourself up over it. All we can do is pray for everybody and have faith that everything happening on Earth is for a reason and higher purpose.🫂

@@pamchesler242 At the risk of sounding like a medium sized "know-it-all" I may be learning to understand that "shutting" off those feelings is not the point. For me, the point is learning to stay focused on my breathing, in-breath, out-breath…then I am able to observe myself and my reaction rather than getting trapped in it. After 30 years of "trying" to do that (many years of "failure":), this is a first for me. Not that I can necessarily sustain the focus for long-as well as the intention-maybe just a a couple of breaths or so, but just those couple of breaths are showing me that I CAN do it.That is empowering! And, the intensity of emotion I feel can actually deepen as I get better at it.

I think Eckhart is brilliant at showing us how to find the silent space within us. Plus, I don't think he means we should all be constantly in a meditative state of being every moment of every day. We all have to do normal everyday things in our life but when the time comes to take a break from thinking too much, and the chaos of the outside world, then he shows us how to find peace from it all within ourselves. So the more we practice silent meditation at home the better ourselves and our lives shall be in the outside world. Thank you Eckhart✨

Yeah, idk why my brain is so interested in thoughts! Do u have an advice for adhd people that have trouble focusing? (Besides try to enjoy it, we CAN focus intently but only if we are interested in what we are doing)
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
I was diagnosed ADHD, prescribed Ritalin. (I haven't identified with that in a very long time. To me, thoughts or an eager mind isn't bad. What's bad is not having control over it, when it has a life of its own; as you said, "only if we're interested..."). As others have said: Eckhart's meditations are very guided with pointings, causing more thought than meditation should. For someone with a mind prone to thinking (about what it wants to), a less-guided meditation could be better. What worked for me was "Guided Mindfulness Meditation on the present moment. Be here now. (MindfulPeace)." What I learned is that it's just about being aware that your mind is thinking. Don't engage with the thinking mind without knowing you're doing it. Focus on the breath when you notice you're thinking (and don't want to). You'll figure it out in that meditation. The thing is, it takes time, practice (months, years). If you've habituated thinking as a way of being for years, it takes practice to have a new habit (one that's more observant, more dis-identifying with the old habit). People think of meditation as "filling up the fuel tank, then I'll be good for the day." But, this meditation is more participatory. You engage and observe yourself, seeking insight into how your mind works, "individuating" this observer from the thinker. Pay attention to the brief moments of no thought. That's you. You exist without thought. Practice (familiarity) leads to more of that, longer cessation. But, most importantly, you'll be able to "get there" anytime. Not just formal meditation. You'll know "I'm doing it again" and disengage from it, get back to the "me not thinking" experience while working, walking, etc. From my experience, the habitual/compulsive/excessive thinking emerges from the subconscious. When you practice/familiarize as I described, the subconscious will yield. It's part of the lifelong habit of being you, experiencing life as you. When you consciously observe your experience, your self, more familiar with the difference between "me in the moment" and "me thinking in the moment" (catching it as it happens), the autopilot nature of thinking reduces. You have more space in your mind. Not because you make it happen. Just because you're aware of it and have practiced "I don't need to think about that right now" and being familiar with the split second of no thinking before thoughts return. It starts with medtiation and turns into a way of being. But, can take time & practice. It's not about _trying_ to do it, fighting thoughts, judging them, etc. Just observing. Familiarizing with the difference.

@@markfullerthank you for pointing!
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
@@xmindk Let me say a little more: I said that I don't identify as adhd. That's because I came to realize that my compulsive, over-active, confabulating mind is actually overcompensation for repressed, dis-integrated trauma, anger, shame. My subconscious's prime directive (as it were) was (is) to keep me away from things that were too complicated or painful to handle. It led me to believe I was in control, figuring everything out, labeling & explaining everything to myself. Any gaps in that were "risks" that I might think about something else (something leading to what's been buried). Everyone walks around in a mild delusion (psychosis). That's the nature of being human (explaining your existence to yourself). But, some people are further across that spectrum, doing it for more necessary/existential reasons (not just because it's pleasurable.). It's like the old meme of a devil on one shoulder, an angel on the other (competing for your attention. "Don't listen to that guy. C'mom... we've been doing this forever." The angle says "I'll be here when that stops working."). To me, my adhd (diagnosed at 12) is that. It's a practiced way of not being present, aware, reconciled, letting the past go. It's a deeper psychosis than the "normal" self-talking person. "Make it go away! make it go away! If we just try harder next time... It's working... I just have to..." That may not apply to you. If not, no harm done considering it. If so, I could say a little more about how I saw it for myself.

does anyone from ekchart youtube channel team read comments and share with Eckhart?
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure they read the comments. There were comments impersonating Eckhart, soliciting fans to call him for more info (it was some investment scam). That was "called out" here in the comments, why these users couldn't be summarily banned (it's easy to do. 4 clicks, all past & future comments disappear. It was't like someone had to hunt for every comment. See one, done. The impostors would spend more time creating new ids than the person doing the 4-click ban.). It was kind of disturbing that there was no apparent concern for the safety of Eckhart's fans. Obviously, people were falling for it (or the impersonator wouldn't have been wasting their time doing it). That seemed to lead to something (the impersonating comments disappeared within a couple months, and have been consistently gone since then.). So, I'm fairly convinced that someone does read these. Not sure how closely affiliated they are with Eckhart (it could be a social-media "promo" company managing the channel for his company. May not be an internal employee.). There has been an air of minimal effort, suggesting an outside company operating to the contract, not making more work for themselves. A lot of stuff goes unnoticed. For example, people are always asking where they can find the full talk. It would be relatively simple to put the date/location of the talk in the video description. That would be hugely helpful for people to find it as "members" of Eckhart's group (the paid membership). Little stuff like that tells me the channel isn't managed by an internal person (pride of ownership that would come with that).

I just got sidetracked for years into Christianity I was doing well in satsong and my mind seeming to be God speaking to my heart fooled me. What a lie religion is what a lie the mind is. I need some help I think back to basics I've just lost 2 yrs believing my mindim going to read stillness speaks again today
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
IMO, the last two years weren't lost. They were what they needed to be as part of you being now. (I.e., if you go forward now with an underlying judgement that the last 2 years were lost, it won't be the same as accepting what is. You'll be craving what wasn't, a futile exercise.). If I were you, I would lay off the inspirational avenues (re-reading a book). IMO, going "back to basics" would be practicing a mindfulness (on the present moment) meditation.[1] You probably found the more spiritual or theistic teaching resonating because of a feeling it gave you. Now replacing it with something that gave you a feeling before (back to that basic)? There's something more basic than that. Pointings (books, teachings) can be overdone. All the pointings come down to "if you want to understand your mind, sit down & observe it" (Joseph Goldstein, a buddhist. Gives much the same teaching as Eckhat). That could be a good idea too: watch some other teachers. Hearing something slightly different can be very powerful. [1] This one worked for me: "Guided Mindfulness Meditation on the Present Moment. Be Here Now. (MindfulPeace)." It's simple, minimally guided. Develop the observer, individuate from the thinker.

I have to say the quality of sound on many of his videos is not very good. It stops me from listening to many of them. I think he can afford to put out good quality sound, even if it is free.
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
This one's not bad compared to many that sounded like he was talking into a can (garbled). People who complained about those would love this one. :) To me, there's a point in that. The talks could be heavily "produced" (with "professional" standards). I think that would change the quality of the talks. I see it on other channels. They're more appearance/quality oriented, and the talks are less spontaneous. Maybe an emphasis on appearance (perceptions) would carry into his delivery of the talk? More self-conscious? Maybe another way to look at it is: home movies? documentary? Just sitting in watching? Fortunate to "be there" (when we weren't). It wasn't produced for us. Just recording what was (low-key; then made available as-is).? If someone won't hear it for the quality of audio (which is magnificently better than those tin-can talks), then they probably weren't going to hear it at all? Right? The mind/ego will find a reason if it's threatened with exposure. ("Why ruin a good thing?"). If that's the state of the mind, then no physical quality of the talk will be good enough. If it's not the audio quality, it will be that he makes smacking noises (when the audio is _too_ good). Or, the pauses are excessive. One person made it through a 15-minute video only to have it entirely ruined by a shadow at the end. I think if everything was as perfected as everyone expects it to be, it wouldn't be the same. That emphasis on quality would overshadow his freedom to talk as he's led to do. It wouldn't be organic access to him. It would be highly produced for us. I think it would be different in a not-good way.
@osbo54

This was so beautiful. I do wish you would pass along to Eckhart that reinforcing the binary idea of "man or woman," is extremely dated and not inclusive.
@chiptowers1
@chiptowers1 Жыл бұрын
Let me break this down as I see it. If nothing is said, then its not meditation because meditation means a written or spoken discourse expressing considered thoughts on a subject, where as to meditate is to focus one's mind for a period of time in silence. So what is the purpose to meditate by the teacher here because by doing that will not explain overthinking because you're not speaking. I would say by not speaking here is just a gimmick acquired and used by the teacher to justify some kind of knowledge within which has never been proven by the teacher where and how that knowledge derived in the first place/instant. The sense of self and identity being said by the teacher has never been explained how that identity derived within every human being, being the intelligent species. So what in the mind prompted the mind to be aware of an identity to say "I" , "I am". This teacher does not have a clue what that physical source that formed the intelligent species body and brain is. There is no dimension or space between the physical source and the brain and body that it formed. The physical source imprinted knolwedege is advising the brain and the body it formed of its physical presence within. For what purpose, to evolve. Evolve thee.

Stop charging people for you work shops on so called enlightenment its blasphemy, abomination..take a page out of Ramana Maharshi's/Nisargadatta way of behaving, these true wisdom whisperers, not like the many new age gurus who hold enlightenment workshops for high fees often in expensive settings, hotels etc... forgive them for they know not what they.. do.
