Storytime: Dealing with Depression | Being Overweight | Knee Injury

Lately I've been feeling down and a little depressed. They do come in waves and I try my best to deal with them the best ways that I can. This knee injury has put on a pause on my daily life and I'm trying to learn how to deal with it without letting depression take over my body. Doctors think I am overweight. I’m late seeing this video but it was meant for me to see. I’m currently on bed rest for 5 days due to my knee. I have big knees like you but I’m much heavier than you(I believe) and the same happen to me. I was simply walking around In Walmart and my knee popped I didn’t hit the floor because I was pushing the cart and it held me up. I continued my shopping with a limp but after about 10 mins I couldn’t walk. I went to the ER and they said it’s arthritis in my knee. I hate this for both of us but it’s nice to know I’m not alone so thank you for sharing and I’ll keep you in my prayers

I know exactly where you are coming from Dominique. The same thing happened to me and then having surgery was worse. So I was down for 12 wks and the only thing I could do is used the bathroom and try to take a shower without getting the stitches wet. I totally understand why you did it and I’m praying for a speedy recovery for you. The fact that you were able to come on your platform and apologize to those that were hurt about it speaks volumes. When your feeling depressed, continue to look at the blessing that came out of it. You were home safe instead of at the lounge. Remember God never puts more on us than we can bare. I been there. Tore all my ligaments. I am praying for your healing physically and mentally. Commit to working hard on the physical therapy when you get to your rehab phase. Even when the doctor release you from rehab, keep working. We don’t realize how important mobility is until we lose it and as we age we must prioritize it. I walk practically everyday now. I work hard to keep my weight down and do leg strength and muscle building exercises. You got this ❤❤❤

God does things that may be beyond understanding sometimes. You stated that you’re an outside person, your injury could be to sit you down for awhile. Don’t look at it as an delay /rejection, but instead as elevation to something greater(even life). I hope you feel better! I know what you going through because I had to have knee surgery because something similar happened to me while I was walking down some stairs. I tore my ACL and meniscus. So keep the joy and laughter coming and don’t worry about the rest.

So let me tell you what happen to me. 2021 I was walking to my car and my knee gave out in October 2021! Fast forward to October 2022, I fell again getting out the car. Went to get an MRI in November 2022, November 17 the doctor said I tore my meniscus. Surgery day was December 14!!! Surgery went well with therapy, still kinda hurt when I don’t move around a lot but it’s a lot better then I was. Hopefully no surgery for you…. Keep your head up.

Hey Sunshine! One thing about it people are STILL going to have something to say even after this video and that is okay. They are not in your shoes and don't know what you are dealing with when the camera goes off and you living your real life sitting there 23 hours a day in that bed looking at the walls. You have to do whatever it takes to make you happy and keep your sanity and if making jokes lifts your spirit hunni make as many as you need to. I can't imagine what you are feeling I have never had that happen to me but my heart goes out to you. Speak on it I had shoulder surgery right after I lose my mom; so I understand how you feel about being depressed. I often make others smile, but right now I’m just going steer crazy. Dr's and Specialist always say we're too big, carrying too much weight, etc. Skinny people have just as much if not more problems than overweight people. I got the April Fool joke to your dad and cousin, but you quickly told them you were joking. You know God sat you down for a reason! Your dad has prayed for all of his children's safety. That happened to me in 2021. I was getting out of the car and my knee twisted and I felt a pop. The only thing that saved me from hitting the ground is the car door. When I tell you that pain was so unbearable, it was!!! I ended up having surgery because I had a torn meniscus. Praying all is well with you.

Hi Dominique I'm praying for a speedy recovery my knee gave out on me one day when I was standing I didn't break anything they say it was sprung I was on crutches for a couple of weeks that pain ain't no joke thank God you wasn't at that club God works in mysterious ways I never would've knew my 4 year old had a cancerous tumor in his brain if he didn't get sick from the flu cuz he was a normal healthy little boy 😢 but God continues to give him strength everyday he always happy thank you for sharing & prayers for your knee to get better💗

Hi Dominique, I understand how you feel having to be stationary for such a long period of time. I had a knee replacement a few years ago and ordered a shower chair before my surgery. That was extremely helpful so you might want to consider buying one off Amazon. That way you can sit down in the shower and take your time. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
