Alyssa, thank you so much for all you do for us. As you can tell we are older and not all well to do on SSI. I drove 40 miles one way for PT and paid $25 co pay for each session and finally quit, when i realize that nothing is improving. I had calf cramps for the last 10 years and was told multiple times to stretch couple of times a day - it did not help and due to pain i could not walk past 10 min. Then i discovered one of your videos and you adressed specifically my issue. Now i walk 10,000 steps on most days and in 2 weeks going to Sequoia National Park with my husband. I am 67, had several heart attacks and open heart surgery, followed by breast cancer and mastectomy. I am grateful for your videos, you gave me back movement and joy of life.

How much weight should you start with and what is the maximum a person with osteoporosis should use? Thank you. Great videos!
@arthritisadventure Жыл бұрын
how much weight to start with heavily depends on your current fitness level. When trying something new, I highly recommend starting conservative (maybe 1-5lbs max) then increasing from there once you gain more confidence and if you don't experience soreness.

Hi! I'm new. Have a question. I recently read an article from an arthritis medical clinic that said that squats put pressure on the joint tissue which meant it wasn't a good activity ( Photos explaining anatomy of a knee in different stages of osteoarthritis). But you advocate squats (with modifications for pain, of course). Bet you get this question a lot! What's the basis of both recommendations? Are squats totally bad as an exercise? Thanks!
@arthritisadventure2 жыл бұрын
You have to be able to do squats to live- sit in a chair, sit on the toilet, etc. squats are vital! And it’s totally possible to modify and get back to doing them without pain!
@irishrosa61152 жыл бұрын
@@arthritisadventure yup, I hear that. I just mean, as an added exercise on top of daily-life squats . I'm recovering from meniscus surgery ....
